The salutation was beautiful as the song, thank you much for your service and your kind heart.
Love this vocalist. So sad that she died so young.
Rest in peace, sweet girl! Happy to have found you, sir...born in 1956 and loving music all the way through. Our generation will always be able to say we grew up with the best of it. Great content and you have a thrilled new subscriber!
Thank you for the kind words and for the sub.
This is the live performance from Blues Alley.
There will never be anyone like Eva Cassidy again and she was taken much too soon but her musical prowess will live forever.
Thank you for sharing and commenting.
While Eva's fans long thought Eva was not aware of her cancer, her family's site tells us that Eva had had the same skin cancer about 2 years earlier. Eva was a brilliant young woman. She knew what she was up against. And her last performances were her parting gift to those who love her spirit and immense talent.
Keep going down this artist......Autumn Leaves....Fields of Gold....Danny Boy....Great job sir
I always loved the Judy Garland rendition. It was from the viewpoint of an older child, I feel. Eva just owns her version as an adult in her arrangement. Many beautiful songs of hers to discover, not all so melancholy.
Eva Cassidy was based in Washington DC, a vocalist and guitarist, who sang blues, jazz, and folk. Unfortunately Eva passed away from melanoma In 1996 at the age of only 33, before she was even well-known to the population. It was only after her death that her work became known and she sold over 20 million albums since.
This performance at the Blues Alley lounge in Washington took place approximately 10 to 11 months before she passed. She did not know at the time what her prognosis was, but watching her eyes and listening to the tone of her voice, it seemed as if she were looking to the beyond over the rainbow, and to me it was beautiful and haunting.
Eva did one more performance at the Blues Alley several weeks before she died as she wanted to perform for her friends and family. She was using a walker and had to be helped onto a stool in order to perform. Again, she passed away just a short time after. Eva is a legend that everybody should know about as she had the voice of a true angel. RIP Eva.
The last song she sang WAS WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD .
Thank you. That is true!
Every one of Eva's performances will tear your heart out. Listen to Time After Time, Autumn Leaves, Danny Boy, & Fields of Gold.

Eva was another true talent and had a beautiful voice. Like Angelina, she emoted a song.
I have to ration how many times I watch this performance, because it always wrecks me. She died of cancer the same year this was recorded; she didn't know about the cancer at the time of this recording.
I think we hear a real angel singing here.
I never really paid much attention to the words of this song until Eva opened my ears. Hauntingly beautiful, and yet hopeful. RIP Eva.
She was absolutely amazing, one of a kind.
Eva claimed this song and made it her own, taking nothing away from Judy Garland. Another huge talent is Dawn Sears - Sweet Memories live in the station inn. the same as Eva, also taken from us far too young
What a BEAUTIFUL performance! First time ever hearing her and so sorry reading the comments that she has passed. Enjoyed this one...needed this tonight.
I am 75 years old and have listened to this for over 20 years. Also played at my daughters funeral 2002 from injuries in the Gulf War. AFC Tara Bohrer
I'm sorry for your loss. May your daughter rest in peace.
I've been listening to Eva Marie sing this song since the late '90s, when I first discovered her. Back then, it was one of the most beautiful and affecting performances I'd ever heard, and it still is to this day. Talk about taking a timeless classic and absolutely making it yours! Love her guitar work, too. Keep up the good work, sir - I'm an Angelina Jordan fan and stopped by your channel to see who else you've been reacting lately; great choice with Eva Marie Cassidy.
God bless you, sir…for your heartfelt reaction to this marvelous singer and for your beautiful prayer!❤️
When you talk about going to downtown Washington DC/ the performance you just saw was "live" over at Blues Alley Jazz Club in Georgetown in 1996 not too far from the place you were describing ❗🙂
Sadly the beautiful Eva passed away so very young, aged 31 I think. Such a very beautiful song from her. Love you Eva 💝💝
I don't think anyone can listen to this and not say "Wow!" While getting goose bumps, too. She's amazing and absolutely the best. Please check out all her recordings. Thank you for your prayer.
This is a beautiful rendition, my favorite version. So sad that she passed so early.
I love this and Eva Cassidy… Thank you!🙏🏻🫶🏻🙏🏻
Great Reaction 🙏👍😎
Eva made this for all the folks who want to hear perfection. RIP Eva
Beautiful reaction. I haven't seen anyone yet react and not melt away by the end of the song! All the very best, Sir!
Wait til u hear AUTUMN LEAVES!!!! ENJOY! God bless you.
Eva Cassidy ❤❤❤
I've been a fan of Eva's for many years - so sad she was taken from this world far too soon - but her voice and music live on. This recording was about 3 months before she passed - rest peacefully Eva, you left this world a better place through your music.
FYI this was the live performance recorded at the spur of the moment and it was said Eva was sick, and died at a young age of 33, this song shows her emotion, I would also suggest you watch Lucy Thomas's tribute version of this song to Eva, you know how good Lucy is and Enjoy !!!
Autumn Leaves and Fields of Gold are exquisite too!☮❤Sea Point, Cape Town
Would you mind adding those to my list?

This is the most exquisite thing that was ever recorded. I have always believed this song was about heaven, and I think Eva knew that when she was singing it. sadly it was only a few months later that she was taken. But I love to think that I will hear Eva singing this again when I enter the gates of Heaven. Thank you for doing this reaction.
I love Eva's take on "Over the Rainbow." She did some others you will definitely love as well such as "Autumn Leaves", "Field of Dreams" (a cover of Sting's song), "Danny Boy" and "What a Wonderful World." I'll be watching to see if you do more Eva and am subscribing today.

Beautiful rendition, she left us way to soon. Gorgeous performance.
Great reaction
Couldn't agree more
Love Eva ❤❤❤
"Urge For Going," a Joni MItchell song done by Tom Rush. It goes back a ways to his 1968 album, Tom Rush. The album also included "The Circle Game" but I really loved this song. Tom rearranged the song and made it his and don't tell Joni but I think his is the best recdition of this song. Maybe it's just me...From one old guy to another! Loved your response to Eva! She really was one of a kind! I always wonder what we missed because she left us so soon...

@@paulschmehl2124 I saw that after I posted here and then went there and posted my request there. Thanks!
Thanks for the play, and the prayer. And THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
@steve,,,, - who could have guessed we would get a "thank you for your service in the comments " 😂
Service is something you bet in a restaurant, blowing people's face off in an illegal invasion,,, not so much . and yeah i was in the military in the sixties but let go of any identification of that one minute after i was discharged . how can a person so many years later still be living in the past .
oh , Eva Cassidy is spectacular !! ❤️
@@siriosstar4789 People who wear the uniform might see it differently, sonny. There's a shortage of real men joining the military these days. Show me some real guts, keyboard warrior.
Lucy Thomas in a tribute to Eva, recorded her version of Over The Rainbow, quite spectacular I must say.
Would you mind adding that to my requests?
