Amazing car, I can finally upgrade from my Bolt, which has been great for last 3 years. So fun charging at work and home and never going to a gas station.
I have a 2023 Bolt EUV and was planning on upgrading to a Blazer or Equinox EV. My local Chevy Dealer has had one of these on their lot for 3 weeks. Stopped by yesterday and they told me not even one person has asked for a test drive to date. Even though the car looks good to me at $60k it is totally overpriced. The Equinox EV is now priced at $52k and also does not have Apple Carplay or NACS charging. Wanted Chevy to succeed, but their strategy of charging $10k over reasonable prices, will mean no meaningful sales for both the Blazer and Equinox EV vehicles.
Seriously, the Blazer is about 10k more expensive. It’s slower, slower charging, no front trunk, no Tesla charging port. I don’t know why anyone would want one of these.
@@silverlex1well you sound like a Tesla fanboy and you may even think their vehicles look good, so that’s why you can’t understand why someone would want this - for starters…

Thanks for the review and vid! BTW, current Tesla EVs work w/a phone key and don't require you to 'turn on/off' the EV; the key card is used as a back-up. Kudos to GM for adding more variety to the EV market, but this Chevy trim seems too expensive for most Canadian buyers. Would have been great to have some questions answered though: - What is the charging speed? - What are the video streaming or gaming options when charging? - Is there a native nav system or do you have to use CarPlay or AA? If native, are DC chargers clearly ID'd w/ charging speed, charging time required, and nearby amenities specified. - Does the EV pre-condition the battery for an optimal charging experience? For inter-city driving the unreliable (non-Tesla) charging infrastructure and added cost for SuperCruise ADAS may be non-starters for informed EV buyers.
8:25 - there's a digital OFF button for the entire vehicle provided on the touch screen, it's the car icon labeled "OFF" just beneath the large round knob.
I canceled my order because GM mislead us on the trims. in 2022 we were told the RS will have super cruise and sunroof standard. Then recently they modified the trims and now all RS that are out have neither of these features and still asking for 60k plus. When its sister vehicle the Lyriq has these features for around the same price
I feel you I just bought a car myself and I feel everyone’s pain. Interest rates are not going to stay the same forever. Eventually, they will come down and I believe right now the car market is slowing down a lot. I see it online I see it at dealerships I see it through the amount of cars they’re bringing into dealerships I see the car sales on dealerships I see cars that were almost 20-30,000 more six months ago now you can buy them for under MSRP. I see the price on the new Mustang coming down in some cases because they can’t sell them, you pay 10% interest rate to lease a mustang for $55,000. Things will change soon!
Overall, the exterior looks aren’t too disappointing. It’s rather nice but at the same time a bit uninventive. Interior leaves a bit to be desired, but definitely better than the prior generation that had a terrible interior. If it weren’t an EV, I probably wouldn’t mind driving it.
Great review, Sam. I’m not an EV fan, but it’s very interesting to witness how far Chevy has come with this new blazer ev. Trust me, we drive a 2017 Chevy traverse as a daily and this seems light years apart
I own a 2023 Bolt EUV. I bought it after GM lowered the price to the point where ROI made sense. Honestly, I was shocked researching this vehicle because GM did a lot of things for their customers- and that’s not like them. The EUV body has 39.2” (99.6 cm) of legroom for rear passengers in a compact car, and in the case that you do carry people in the back seat- GM put in a high mount camera that uses the rear view mirror as a display! It seems to be a very well thought out vehicle for daily use. GM shouldn’t focus on following Tesla. Affordable Teslas are harsh riding rattle traps that force owners to swap voice commands for muscle memory to change climate settings, don’t get near their advertised range on the highway, and are expensive- if not difficult- to service. During the summer, my EUV got it’s advertised range or better on a highway trip. I see some evidence of GM screwing up their own good ideas in this vehicle. For example, what if I leave my daughter in the car on a hot day, AC running, while I run into the store to buy milk? I can do this with my EUV, but how with the BlazerEV if it senses the driver in the seat to stay running? I assume you can remote start the BlazerEV, but how long will it run? My EUV only runs on remote start for 19 mins. If you leave the key in the vehicle- it won’t lock. You can use a phone app and OnStar services to unlock the vehicle, but that takes time and what if the satellite can’t connect to your car because of obstructions? Hopefully GM will add functions like this into the Infotainment so you can prepare the car for odd situations like dog or child in car on a hot day. I also see evidence of GM’s future mistakes in the re-design of the Bolt EUV. One generic problem with EVs is weight, and that increases tire and suspension wear. From what I read, GM will use the EUV body style, but make it bigger, and use LFP batteries from China. Both of these additions will increase weight, and the car is already heavy for a compact vehicle.
That price may be a problem, but it's larger than the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, VW ID.4, or Nissan Ariya, one does wonder if Chevy is planning a 1-2 punch with the Blazer EV and smaller Equinox EV, it's like about 2 inches shorter in overall length, wheelbase about 6 inches shorter, width about 3 inches shorter
This is definitely a consideration for my next vehicle; my lease will be expiring on my Tesla next year. That said, at that price point, I wouldn’t hesitate to go with another Tesla as it’s still the best EV on the road, although the Blazer has lots of great features, and I’m enjoying my Bolt EV immensely. For turning the car off and on, sounds like it’s like a Tesla where it’s never “off”, it just sleeps; you don’t actually have to tap the card with a Tesla, you just get in and go, or stop and get out. I wish the Bolt EV had that possibility. The screen in the Blazer looks pretty nice, but the dash seems very busy overall between buttons, stuff on the screen, and climate vents. It’s a shame about the camera. I love that the Bolt EV offers 2 different cam views when in reverse or drive; great having the overhead view automatically. Love that! Something I wish the Tesla had. Still don’t understand why e-pedal is just not integrated. I find it unnecessary to be able to turn it off and on. I must say the e-pedal in the Bolt EV is very good, and the added regen paddle makes regen braking even better, and adds that nice, extra ability to brake via regen. I wish Tesla had regen paddles or something on the steering wheel. It’s really unbelievable that there’s no frunk! Can’t imagine why. This car’s certainly big enough for one. I love my frunk on the Tesla, and definitely miss it on the Bolt EV. Not having a frunk is actually something that would make me think twice about buying. That said, I like the auto trunk open feature on the Blazer. Again, another thing that would stop me from buying the Blazer is the pricing. Might as well get a Tesla. All other EVs at that price point are just cars that aren’t Teslas. Just the cruise control alone on a Tesla makes it better and safer than any other vehicle, not to mention no other EV has full auto drive. The Lane Keep Assist in the Bolt EV is completely useless, unfortunately. I imagine the Blazer might be the same. LKA on the Tesla is incredible! All in all, I would certainly test drive the Blazer, but I have my doubts. The Chevy app has improved, but is still greatly lacking when compared to Tesla.

Only Tesla superchargers stand out. There’s a reason why manufacturers are switching to the NACS port on their cars.

When I added in Ontario sales taxes bringing it to at least 85K, hell I pushed myself off the chair. I don't even think the RS qualifies for the 5K rebate as it's over 70K.

I don't get why price keeps coming up like this is uniquely expensive. The RS trim is similar to a nicely optioned Mach E Premium and so is the price. At least hear in the US.
