You mean a church close to you or a faith? If a church attend a service virtually, if a faith then you are doing well in your search. Start in Orthodoxy.
As a reformed Presbyterian, there is much wisdom to be learned from the early church. Videos here and there about eastern theology, have been edifying and a breath of fresh air! God be with you!
I randomly discovered this channel and I love it so much. I'm also Easter Orthodox Christian ☦️ so I enjoy your videos a lot. Thank you for making these beautiful videos and God bless ☦️💕
Excellent information and perspective ❣️ I was taught early Christians changed the Sabbath day to distance from the Jewish traditions. Never even considered Easter Sunday❣️ How Delightful 🌹🙏💛
I would add too this verse. It speaks about meeting regularly with other believers which is important. Allows you to grow, praise God, learn of God, and help others. Hebrews 10:24-25 KJV And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: [25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
We are growing! It's very exciting, thank you! And yes, the tea is back. We forgot a few times, and we filmed a lot of episodes before we launched the channel!
Stephan, Thank you for your teaching. Putting into words and visual aides the truth and why of our faith is extremely helpful and encouraging. I will share your videos with our brothers and sisters. God bless you.
Could you also make videos to explain theological questions towards Orthodox Christians for example why having icons, the history of them etc etc that would be really nice, God bless ☦️
Hi Alexandra! We are definitely planning several episodes on the Early Church's teachings around images/icons. And some interesting information about WHY certain icons exist. Hope you enjoy them when they come up!
After looking into Messianic Judaism and the importance of Sabbath in both testaments I started to view Sunday as the 8th day, like that mentioned in the laws of circumcision, whereby creation is set apart... Or as an 8th day in the (re)creation of man. Nice to see I've not been TOO far out there, haha. What does the Orthodox Sabbath look like?
I love the 8th day concept. A day beyond our grasp, but it's there. I could never understand in my heart, why the day is important. Would it matter to Jesus if I/we took one day in 7 out for holy reasons, so long as it's the same day each week and treated as holy? Bless you, and thank you for your work.
For me it's all about worshipping Him....He died for me, BRUTALLY, not only is it the least I can do, but I WANT to. I want to glorify Him. I want to thank Him. I want to LOVE Him! As for what I receive...I have to say, even if I don't feel like being there for whatever reason, honestly, I ALWAYS walk out feeling better than when I walked in. The Spirit of God is there! I received my Lord! This is a Holy Mass, not a service. I can't help but be changed. It's not even a choice, it just happens ❤
I just discovered your channel and I'm enjoying and learning so much from these videos. My best friend's favorite animal is the same as yours. She has a whole collection of penguins!. 🙏❤️🐧
YOU STOPPED THE VIDEO ONE SECOND BEFORE YOU DRANK IT!!!! We were so close to #FreeTheTea I can't take it! Also, yes, best video yet my friend. See you at church sometime
It's likely that is how it started, and Jesus was so named on the 8th day. But we do that in Orthodoxy for both genders (in Jewish tradition the naming rules were different for girls), and it's added to our understanding of 8 rather than just being a carried on thing from before. And you're welcome! The mug was nice too.
"Why Orthodox have beards" or "Why has everyone else shaved theirs off?" Will definitely do a Creed video and maybe a bigger video on the schism, though I go through the basics in the 'Brief History' episode. Thanks for watching!
Sunday was chosen for the Resurrection as the Lord’s Day but I heard references that Sunday was also a day of rest & worship for Romans who worshipped the Sun God that why it’s called SUN Day….and hence the implication that Christians adopt pagan days of worship.
Many references tend to float around, though very few hold up to scrutiny. Sunday wasn't a Roman rest day till Constantine in the 4th century, by which time we have a clear Christian use of Sunday for over 2 centuries. And despite Constantine, records show it wasn't widely accepted as a rest day for decades. Also Sunday is a Germanic word, not a Roman one. The Romans used the word 'sol' for sun and Greeks 'Helios'. The Sun Day interestingly seems connected to a week based around the '7 celestial bodies' which included the sun rather than to specific deities which in English have inspired the other 6 days of our week.
@@Patristix Thanks for clarifying. I heard a Bible teacher (probably Messianic Jew) say that in a class and perhaps implied that Christians adopted pagan days of worship. The point being made was how man plays with God's law. God instituted the Sabbath (Genesis) before there were any Jews - Sabbath was given to mankind and not to Jews alone (God declared which day would be a day of rest). God reminded the Jews to keep Holy the Sabbath (Exodus), but man changed God's law (Canon XXIX). The reason for the change came at the Council of Laodicea when it was felt Christians must not Judaize by resting on the Sabbath and that's why we have the Lord's Day. I don't think that was the sole reason for the change, but I'd like to hear your comments. I think Christians see the Lord's Day as a renewal of creation in Christ. But interesting point on how God instituted Sabbath for mankind and not Jews only. Hmmm 🤔
😆 Glad you like it! It's a replica of Anduril from the Lord of the Rings movies. Belongs to Andrew, the brother that created the lighting and does the filming for this show
Luke 2:21 NLT Bible. Jesus is Presented in the Temple: Eight days later, when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived.🙏❤️✝️
@@Patristix btw, fyi, the japanese (I say japanese because I am not sure chinese treat it this way, or ehat is the symbolic or spiritual context) kanji for 8 (八) also has a connotation for infinite.
It bugs me when people say that Christians celebrate the sabbath on Sunday, or that Sunday is the sabbath. We go to church on sunday and rest on sunday because it is the Lords day not because it is the sabbath.
Love that part that “going to church is not about you, it’s about Worshiping God!

The "Arabic" symbol for 8 is actually of Indian origin. However, helix-like symbols appear in other places too.
I love your logo!
Thanks Jim!

I thought announcing on the eighth day was because that's when circumcisions take place.

The numeral 8 yes, as in the figure 8. But the number eight is everywhere whether it is 8 or IIX or anything else
