What a beautiful family....Christian is so handsome....looks like Mary's family didn't attend....they must be so proud of her....I couldn't understand a word of it but it was so great to watch..I loved how they family sat among the guest...watching from Australia 🦘🦘🐨🐨
Mary's sister and two of her nieces were actually there! They were the woman (I guess with her husband) and the two girls that entered together dressed in navy, right before Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and Princess Estelle of Sweden. I think it was at the 5:29 minute mark. ❤
@lindagerman1782. Since you mention the US, I can tell you, That Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez looked very classy and elegant, when SHE was at a Royal Dinner in that very same ballroom back in October 2019. AOC was a guest speaker at a Climate Forum, that the Crown Prince couple were Official Protectors of. They also held a Royal Dinner for all the participants, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was seated at the table with then Crown Princess Mary, soon to be Queen Mary of Denmark.
The Norwegian royal family is my favourite, followed by the Swedish and then the Danish and then the British... and I'm British! I like the Norwegian the best because they're so humble and down to Earth. They call Crown Prince Haakon 'His Modesty' because he's so humble. He even takes public transportation!
What a charming young man with such regal bearing at such a tender age. I feel sure his future shines bright. The resemblance to his mother is wonderful to see. Happy birthday Christian & many healthier & happy ones to come. xo
Except these days none of these people are proper royalty. They all marry commoners so they're not truly "royal." Christian's mother was a commoner. How does that make him Royal? Same for the Wales's in England and so many do Europe's royal families. They shouldn't marry commoners because it changes the bloodlines. To me, they're not Royal if they're commoners. There has to be a distinction. Yet these days everyone wants to do whatever they want. No one can be told. One of the scandi princesses married an African American new age guru. So much nonsense. Shouldn't be allowed. Imagine any of those African ro Asian countries accepting a white commoner in the midst of their royal families? They wouldn't. Yet we allow anybody and anything. It has ruined western culture and diluted our societies.
All the very best of wishes to Christian on his special day and far into the future. Hopefully we will have the option to hear the speeches in english in future. As Australians it would have been lovely to understand what was being said 🇦🇺🦘

How beautiful is the queen/grandmother ❤ she also spoke in English too 😊 beautiful royal family I have followed for over 20 years as princess Mary is from my country Australia 🇦🇺
The Queen speaks 5 languages fluently. Imagine when you wrote this and the difference a few days do! A girl born in Tasmania will become the Queen of Denmark in 2 weeks. I can promise you the Danish people have full trust and confidence in HRH Crown princess Mary´s abilities and although we are in semi chock over the announced surprise abdication of the Queen that chock are related to what we loose alone and not what we gain. If you have a question or two please feel free to ask. Cannot have been that easy to follow this without translations.
God bless the Queen of Denmark, beautiful traditional Respect. Well done!!! I just love watching the royal. I am from the smallest Pacific Islands the Kingdom of Tonga. We still have King and Queen and princesses and princes!!! I am proud of our Royal family and Respect them heaps. God bless Princes Christian. U are all growing fast!!’n All the best for the future!!!!!
Happy 18th Birthday Prince Christian. There's a rainbow that showed-up behind Christiansborg Palace on your birthday. As the future king of Denmark eventually, it symbolizes hope, love and friendship. May you be a good KING , when the time comes.
So wonderful to see this. It was an auspicious day when a rainbow appears in the sky. Belated congratulations to Prince Christian for his 18th Birthday. 🎂🎉🌹🎁🙏🥰❤️
@@ЛюдмилаГоберникhis great grandfather Frederik IX was almost two meters! Queen Margrethe is not short either, 182 cm! Christian got their genes. He is 191 cm.
i love the respect that they show the soldiers, looking at them as they pass. so much impact. i would feel so much honour as one of them, to be so close to them. long live all nobel and royals families of europe.

Huge shout out to All 😅Royal Household Staff on every level and all Organisers and Royal. Officers. Happy 18th Birthday Prince Christian from Scotland 🌌🌎🏴💜🏴
If any non Danish watch. This is basically "Grandmother" throwing a party for her grandson. 200 young people of age 18 from the entire Kingdom were invited to "Ball at the palace" besides the invited dignitaries from Denmark and abroad. Those of the 200 young people that came from Denmark itself were 2 from each municipality in Denmark. They were selected in many many different ways, from writing competitions where they should argue why they should be invited to lotteries between everybody in a municipality turning 18 same day as the Crown prince etc. So if you spot a few that looks "out of place" or have open mouth and staring eyes, there are plenty of reasons he he. As spectators we get to peek but if you are looking for the food you will look in vain since we do not find it tactful to film people eating. But I am sure you can find the menu somewhere. The colour full tapestries on the walls are a gift to her Majesty when she turned 60 and are 1000 years of our nations history woven into tapestries as they were made from around the late Middle age but with a modern expression as designed by the Danish artist and more, Bjørn Nørgaard. Weaving them took a decade for a lot of people, if I remember correctly. I wonder if any on earth have placed a tapestry order as this one in the world in this generation? Tapestries of this magnitude typically are hundreds of years old. Wikipedia introduces him: Bjørn Nørgaard (born 21 May 1947 in Copenhagen) is a Danish artist who has been active in a variety of fields. He has significantly influenced the art scene in Denmark both through his "happenings" and his sculptures in Danish cities. Although he has specialized in sculpture since 1970, his greatest achievement is perhaps his work in designing Queen Margrethe II's tapestries.[1] Nørgaard was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1985 to 1994.
Thnx Mike for the information. Especially the info on Nørgaard. Impressed by the Danish royals, they seem friendly, modest and very dignified. The "Grandmother" stole my heart with her incredible smile. greetings from Amsterdam
@@heatherleslie5874 You are welcome. There are reasons we appreciate our (constitutional) Monarchy so much in our modern democracy. The continuity pole through our Kingdom and societies, they represent so well, are why even outer left and right politicians here call themselves "non practising republicans".
I just know how humble prince christian, and he said "wow" to the music performance, he such a joyful prince, a handsome prince, a lovely prince, i thinkhis birthday the best ceremony on this era, like so many younger ppl and prince or princess, i like the concept

*H.M. The Queen's speech at the gala dinner at Christiansborg Castle on 15 October 2023 on the occasion of H.R.H. Prince Christian's 18th birthday* [Danish] "It is with great pleasure that tonight I welcome you to this festive evening in the Knight's Hall at Christiansborg Castle, where we celebrate Prince Christian's 18th birthday. It is a special pleasure to be able to welcome all the young people from all over the country and from the Faroe Islands and Greenland who are gathered here tonight. [English] "A warm welcome to all our guests from near and far who have come here to celebrate Prince Christian on his 18th birthday. [Danish] "Dear Christian, your 18th birthday is an important day, with it you come of age, just as it happens for all other young Danes. But there is still a difference. Your path in life is already set, for one day you will follow your father, just as he will follow me one day. You become a link in the long historical chain that has bound our country together for centuries. "It can sound violent when you are eighteen years young. It is a challenge, but there is also a sense of security in knowing where you are going and in knowing that others have been in the same situation and have followed the same path. We have always had to feel the responsibility, but we have never failed to feel the warm support that has surrounded us, as you have also experienced from the Castle Square at Amalienborg today. "This summer you become a student, so your school days are over; but your apprenticeship only begins here, regardless of what you choose to do. You have good skills, you are physically active and you are aware of your responsibilities. You have empathy, you have always shown that, not least towards your siblings. The good qualities that you possess and the ballast that you bring from home will follow you everywhere. "May your 18th birthday be a good and festive prelude to many good years as you expand your horizons and develop all that lives within you. "Those are my birthday wishes for you today. "May I ask everyone to rise and bring forth a threefold life for Prince Christian!" *HRH The Crown Prince's speech* Dear Christian Some would say that you are now putting your childhood behind you. My bet is that you will always carry it with you. You will grow and add, but something goes again. Since you were little, you have loved company. Already in kindergarten you were told that you were good at getting everyone involved. A unifying figure you were called, which made your mother and me proud. You attract people and people attract you. That is why it is also absolutely right to celebrate you by inviting hundreds of young people to the party. It's your style. You are yourself with others. It may sound easy, but it is far from it. Not at all when young. Because what do the others think? Do they like me? Am I falling through? Everyone in this room who is or has been young has probably asked themselves those questions. I know I have. It's no different for you, but you don't let the questions change who you are. You are carrying something solid that does not shake easily. A core. I think that's part of your appeal. Because we like people who dare to show who they are. You dare. Keep doing it. The daring has come stealthily, because you were - if the truth must be told - not the most fearless child. You walked forward quietly like a little one. You were curious and observant, but also very careful. You'd rather go an extra lap than plunge headlong into something unknown. You, on the other hand, happily passed on the many rounds to your siblings when you became a big brother the first and second time. Isabella, Vincent and Josephine have listened many times when you generously shared your head start in life. You will always have that edge, but be aware that it is experienced less over the years. We also feel that as parents. Before, you always looked in our direction when there was a question you couldn't find an answer to. Today, you also look elsewhere - for example, down at your phone. Remember to look up from time to time. It is only natural that you orientate yourself towards others and other things, because our advantage is also diminishing. We don't have all the answers anymore. You have to learn your way around - rather than doing what your parents would have done. And even though your mother and I will probably never stop thinking a whole lot, and even though we hope you'll keep coming to us, you're going to have to make more and more choices on your own. If I have to sneak in some good advice, now that I have the chance, it's that preparation and practice will never hurt again. The two together form a kind of life pocket knife, which is always good to have in your rucksack. There is no situation where it cannot be used. Preparation and practice give us something to fall back on. So regardless of whether it is: “New life, new style. New car, new gear”. So remember to keep "that knife perfectly sharp". Today marks a transition. Today you embark on the future that you do not choose yourself, but that has been chosen for you. You are obliged. You are the heir to the throne. You are also young and the new in line. Can you prepare and practice for it? Yes, you can and you do. Does it remove all doubts and all strays? No, by no means. The art is to be able to be with the doubt. As a rule, it evaporates little by little. But sometimes it lingers because it is part of being human. Like the wild roads. If you lose your bearings, stop, put "Promise me one thing" on the system and hum along to the chorus: "To fail is to learn". Because it's not the mistakes that slow us down, but the fear of making them. So fear not, only believe and above all, never be lazy about life. Being young has never been easy, but something has changed. You and everyone else your age are growing up in the most enlightened time ever. Still, you can get lost in the dark. Far too many young people are under pressure and stressed and struggle to keep their balance in a sea of expectations. We know more than ever before, and yet we have not managed to get rid of the discontent. There are no simple solutions, and every young person necessarily lives in a new age. Only you know what it's like to be young right now. That is why we must listen to you. Søren Kierkegaard said in his time that if you keep going, it will work out. It may sound trite, but conversely, any change depends on movement. An after that differs from a before. I realize that the possibilities can be so many that they strain each other, but they are also what they are; opportunities. So go with what you can do something about. And invite others to join you. Any one of you can be something to someone else at any time. You are each other's railing. Use it! And use us who were young once. Because something is the same. For example, that we best keep our balance by standing close to others - both when things are going well and when things are going badly. Dear Christian, you carry your childhood with you, but you also add to it all the time. You still check the water depth before you jump. As parents, we are infinitely grateful for that. If it is deep enough, on the other hand, there are no limits to how high you can climb. It sometimes makes your mother nervous, but most of all you make us both proud. You were born with a responsibility, and it gets a little closer from today. You can't stay whatever you want. But you can enter the ranks in your own way. Stick to being yourself with others, keep exploring life and pack your backpack right. Then it should go. Congratulations on your birthday.
*HRH Prince Christian's speech* Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses, minister, dear family, dear everyone - not least you, who have come two by two from all corners of the kingdom. It is great for me to stand here today. Thank you, Grandma, for the kind words and the beautiful celebration. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for supporting me and being there for me all the way. And thank you to all the young people who are here today. It feels really good to be surrounded by so many peers. We are not the same, but we stand in the same place in life. We have something in common. And tonight is new for all of us. That makes it a little easier. And I need that right now. Last summer I had to start 2nd grade at a new high school. I was nervous. Really nervous. Everyone in my new class had known each other for a year. I was the new him. So there I was, with a high pulse and a dry mouth, on the threshold of something new. I got over myself, got to say "hello" and introduce myself to my new classmates. They welcomed me and one step at a time I got to know the tone, the routines and the other students. Today it is hard to understand what I was so nervous about. It happens often; we fear something that lies before us, and as soon as we are past it, it seems perfectly harmless. I remind myself of that when I get nervous. I reminded myself of that before I had to stand here today. Because it is great to stand here with the country's highest order and a special responsibility resting on my shoulders. Fortunately, I don't have to carry it alone, nor from one day to the next. I am excited, but also comfortable and proud to be part of my family, and I take pride in having to serve my country. So even though I shake my hands a little today, I have my heart in the meeting with the future. Many of us young people experience that there are high expectations of us. Both from ourselves and from others. To a large extent, expectations become a pressure. Too many people don't feel they can live life the way they want to. But in reality we can only be who we are. You may not be the funniest or the smartest in the class, but then you are something else. We don't have to be the most or the best to deserve a place. And I say that, even though there are a few handfuls here tonight who are at the very top when it comes to culture and sport. You are a huge inspiration - and I myself love both watching and playing sport - but I would never get on the field if I demanded of myself that I should be at your level. Think how much we miss out on if we don't dare to try new things. We don't have to be a talent to join in or have fun. We like to practice and go for the win, but we are more than our defeats and victories. No matter what course they take place on. Of course I want to be the best heir to the throne imaginable, but I'm definitely going to step aside. There might not be holes in my socks on my first official visit … dad … but then it will be something else. I can't deliver perfection, because what is perfection anyway, but I can promise dedication. I will give everything I have and learn everything I can. Dear Mom and Dad, You have always looked after me and Isabella, Vincent and Josephine. Everyone in our family knows that we can turn to each other and find strength right there. If one person is low on energy, there is always someone else in the family who has surplus. We count on each other because we have always been able to count on you. Like when I had to give a speech to my godson at Berleburg a few months ago. Without a word, you got me up at the right time despite my nerves. You have always both guided and given freedom. You have always given me the opportunity to take one step at a time. Today is one of those steps. There are many more to come. Because we come of age in one day, but we become adults along the way. I would like to thank everyone who helped celebrate me. Both you who are here and all of you who have sent greetings and gifts. I will never forget today. But maybe I will remember it as less challenging already tomorrow. I have to find my way, even if it leads to a familiar place. I have roots in many places in the world and I enjoy traveling. But home will always be here. Because I love my country. I suggest that we rise together and raise a toast to the Kingdom of Denmark.

I loved watching the 500 kids come in, the dresses and folk costumes were lovely and so good to see the boys show up in sneakers, their own personal national costume!
They were selected in many many different ways, from writing completions where they should argue why they should be invited to lotteries between everybody in a municipality turning 18 same day as the Crown prince etc. So if you spot a few that looks "out of place" or have open mouth and staring eyes, there are plenty of reasons he he.
Why should "her majesty" live long? She is the most unimportant official person in the country. Monarchy is an obsolete, ridiculous institution. It is scary that people take such big interest in unimportant people. Greetings from Sweden who also - unfortunately - is a monarchy.
@@karinbackstrom2909 people like there kings and queens because there countries have been governed by them for many years and now just because they have become constitutional monarchy’s it didn’t mean that people should stop loving them.

I don’t know… with the exception of the queen, the elders’ dresses seemed a bit old-fashioned to me. Not to say they need to look like Hollywood’s red carpet walks but they could use some advice on choice of colors. Some are too just closed to their skin tones.
@@BoadiceanTruth well it's true. 🤣Isn't it refreshing to see a more authentic representation of royals without this Hollywood so-called A-list television garbage?
Glad to see there’s no mix of non royal celebrities specially those who have money by luck, by hardwork or stolen money ,they don’t belong to this ceremony!
Any idea where we could get an English translation? Mum and dad can be proud of their kids. Never hear of them behaving other than respectfully. It’s great to see the Queen interacting with him in such a loving, natural grandma type way. Hopefully he will be a levelheaded king when his time comes.
Dane here. No sorry but when looking at the view numbers I think our broadcasting station should consider making them. For us Danes this are a national event that we basically consider relatively private despite Royals and dignitaries from other nations are invited. But this celebration are for the close "friends". I do not know if you understood this without the translation but 200 young Danes from around the entire Kingdom were invited to "ball at the palace" on top. 200 young people representing same generation as the future King. The 200 people were selected in many different ways. Each municipality in Denmark had two invites to hand out and some made open competitions where applicants should point to why they should be invited, others had lottery and many other things. If you have a specific question to anything then write the time mark, if its linked to a specific thing above or just ask if a general thing related to our monarchy and I will answer if possible. Our Royals have always been able to throw a party and we like that here, he he.
Thanks for your helpful reply. Considering Mary will be our first Australian born queen we will be following her husband’s elevation to the throne fairly closely. English translations may become necessary don’t you think?@@Mike-zx1kx

*H.M. The Queen's speech at the gala dinner at Christiansborg Castle on 15 October 2023 on the occasion of H.R.H. Prince Christian's 18th birthday*
[Danish] "It is with great pleasure that tonight I welcome you to this festive evening in the Knight's Hall at Christiansborg Castle, where we celebrate Prince Christian's 18th birthday.
"May I ask everyone to rise and bring forth a threefold life for Prince Christian!"
*HRH The Crown Prince's speech*
Dear Christian
Some would say that you are now putting your childhood behind you.
So regardless of whether it is:
“New life, new style.
*HRH Prince Christian's speech*
Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses, minister, dear family, dear everyone - not least you, who have come two by two from all corners of the kingdom.

"May I ask everyone to rise and bring forth a threefold life for Prince Christian!"
*HRH The Crown Prince's speech*
Dear Christian
Some would say that you are now putting your childhood behind you.
So regardless of whether it is:
“New life, new style.
*HRH Prince Christian's speech*
Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses, minister, dear family, dear everyone - not least you, who have come two by two from all corners of the kingdom.
I suggest that we rise together and raise a toast to the Kingdom of Denmark.
imagine Her Majesty The Queen herself patiently greeting all their guests🥹😍 they are the most humble Royals👑
This queen and kings are so beautiful to see and your history to i love them keep doing your job for counrtys.

Muchas bendiciones 🙏🙏 para todos ustedes 🙏 mis respetos 🙏

Princess Elisabet of Belgium... I'm screaming!!! 😮😍
I loved watching the 500 kids come in, the dresses and folk costumes were lovely and so good to see the boys show up in sneakers, their own personal national costume!

Sim, existe. Às custas da subjugação de outros países onde governantes corruptos vendem seu próprio povo.

It explains how guests were selected…2 from each town, by contest, also 18 years and same Birthday as Prince Christian..😍200.. 18 year olds
Congratulations to Prince Christian and to the Danish people.
Wishing Prince Christian a Happy 18th Birthday.😊
Sincerely
SIR ROBERT.
Happy birthday…. From sri lanka
Very excellent event, the Royal Family are very beautiful and very humble, God bless all of you. 16.04.24.
I love how he was able to invite his friends also. I bet once the Queen (Granny) left it got LOUD
They were selected in many many different ways, from writing completions where they should argue why they should be invited to lotteries between everybody in a municipality turning 18 same day as the Crown prince etc. So if you spot a few that looks "out of place" or have open mouth and staring eyes, there are plenty of reasons he he.
SO MANY young people! Future subjects of King Christian!
Long live her majesty the queen
Why should "her majesty" live long? She is the most unimportant official person in the country. Monarchy is an obsolete, ridiculous institution. It is scary that people take such big interest in unimportant people.
Greetings from Sweden who also - unfortunately - is a monarchy.
@@karinbackstrom2909 people like there kings and queens because there countries have been governed by them for many years and now just because they have become constitutional monarchy’s it didn’t mean that people should stop loving them.
Such a handsome family!! And Queen Margrethe II has such a warm & welcoming presence--like everyone's favorite granny.
Prince Christian is 18. Wow. Time flies. Happy birthday, sir.
I’m here for the dresses and jewels and I have to say the younger girls could learn a thing or two from the older ladies 🙌🏼
Agree😮
I don’t know… with the exception of the queen, the elders’ dresses seemed a bit old-fashioned to me. Not to say they need to look like Hollywood’s red carpet walks but they could use some advice on choice of colors. Some are too just closed to their skin tones.
White sneakers with a long gown ? 😂😂😂
One fellow came in a white hoodie. 😮
@@cindymaceda2999 I wonder if it had some kind of modern indigenous design to it?
Finally a royal event without Oprah, George Clooney or Elton John.
Ooh! Harsh! X😂
@@BoadiceanTruth well it's true. 🤣Isn't it refreshing to see a more authentic representation of royals without this Hollywood so-called A-list television garbage?
❤❤😂
Glad to see there’s no mix of non royal celebrities specially those who have money by luck, by hardwork or stolen money ,they don’t belong to this ceremony!
..... without. will they won't they attend amid demands for extra security.
Very lovely!
I love the fact that the SMILE
The Queen's chair should be on a platform, like a throne, so she can be on eye level with her guests. and a small pillow to support her back.
Wszystko jak należy.
@@nolasmith7687 This was simply an upload of the live broadcast from the National Public Danish TV ( DR ). This was not produced for the international "market".
