I held a vote on Patreon to choose the next cover to record, and this mystical, soothing track from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won. I love this song. It's so relaxing. It immediately takes me back to the game. Exploring... the sounds of nature... the sunsets. I absolutely loved The Witcher 3.

Stepping onto the Isles. It’s certainly a literal breath of fresh air after the swamps of velen or the close stench of novigrad. Plus most Skelligs actually treat you with a measure of respect rather than mistrust and contempt like on the continent.

This song has saved me from post Army suicide. I’m talking finger in the trick, glock in my throat, 1 pound of pressure left on the soft safety before brains on the wall. I have listened to the original version for a thousand hours, night after night for years, and this version dozens more. Insane to stumble on this and see how amazingly well my life has changed since the year after Witcher 3 came out. It gets better friends.

The Witcher 3 is a game that I will never forget. A true masterpiece.
Nothing beats it :D.
There’s something about the Witcher games that others just don’t do... from the music, to the fact that Geralt can die and the world won’t be effected as a whole.. it’s YOUR story, you’re not that hero the Gods have chosen.. you’re just a man going through a broken world with a broken past... your only friends slowly going extinct... you’re a dying breed, and that’s what makes it so beautiful, once all of the Witchers die, that’s it, they’re gone for good... the stories make you actually want to partake in them.

Toussaint is my fave place. Skellige follows second tho. Too bad we are limited to very few regions.
The first time I played witcher after enjoying and doing everything in Velen and Novigrad, I didn't think anything could top it, then I ended up in Skellige, and this song started, and I sat in silence, taking it in. Utter bliss. Speaks to the soul.
I did the exact same thing looking at the wind boosting through the mountains it was just peaceful and bliss to come from Novigrad to this
This makes me wanna travel to a Scandinavian country, go on a mountain hike, and once i reach the top, I'll reward myself with this song.

@Susan Moran I believe Batkowski wanted to mix the cultures. A viking setting with Gaelic influence. Well they also mixed in real history but none the less
This is pure Gaelic, and Scotland is the inspiration for Skellige in the world of the Witcher. Scandinavia is ok, but just travel to Scotland. That's where we should listen to this song.

This song is one of my all time favorites of the Witcher, one of the best relaxing and somber tunes I have ever heard, but that's not surprising because the witcher has raised standards for many games over the years, mostly because their developers love for both their games and their fans, and it shows, CDPR, the most respected game developers in the world.
Oh man, even after all those years…sitting in the woods with my dogs, listening to the wind and that song…that feeling I can not describe🫡

First time i got to skellige i just walked through fields and admired goosebump inducing music and beautiful scenery. Spent almost an hour just slowly walking from one field to another forest over a hill and listening to this blissful mesmerizing beauty of sounds. Best game ost ever! And best game ever, after cyberpunk 2077 ofc.

Ima do the same quiet often in cyberpunk 2077. Taking in the details, realism, ambience and feel of night city. Gonna spend hundred of hours just driving around badlands in my high tuned nomad car and blasting those trippy synthy punky wavevy vibes out of my cars speakers or just slowly walkin or sneakin around and getting lost in futuristic trippy ambient tracks.
I hope cyberpunk has even half the magic witcher 3 had .. I'll be happy ..
EDIT :when I say magic I mean the beauty of the game, not actual magic wtf ..

Wish I could just delete my memory playing it. Im not calling it a game, cause it is not a game. Its pure art, its a life within a live, a world you can feel, breath and touch. You dont have npcs, you have friends. Its such a deep experience. Thanks for your cover!
I remember my first time going to Skellige. This song played as the night settled in with the snow, and the glow of the moon painted over the world around me. The quiet whisper of the wind whistled through the trees. I followed a winding road with no clear destination until I came upon a hill to stop and listen. My mouth was open and I felt an absolute rush of emotion as I struggled to even blink. I’ll never forget that. Absolutely stunning memory…
Just finished Blood & Wine DLC.. and I thought to myself, Malukah would do an amazing job on "Song of Woe" but then she does the only other Witcher 3 tune that brought tears to my eyes! Always amazing!! Thank you so much! You make an old geek very happy! ☺️
And here I thought the original ‘Fields of Aard Skellig’ was perfect enough... I never would have thought it could be covered even better than the original. Guess I should have known better when it comes to Malukah!

There were two instances when the game nearly lost me:
- In the beginning in Velen. So depressing... But then I saw the big cities and kept playing.
- And that time when I thought Ok, now I´ve seen it, now I can stop. And then I got to Skellige...
New lands, new theme, new everything it felt. Just wonderful.

It was a beautiful cover, and I just wanted to give you props on how good your pronunciation was. You've either listened very, very, very carefully to the language to get correct phonetics, or you already have some of the language. Not quite sure which it is, but your dialect was very good!

I've been listening to this on repeat for a few days now. It is just so hauntingly beautiful. The goosebumps, the atmosphere, the voice. Everything is just top notch!
I LOVE this soundtrack. I listen to it when i wake up. I listen to it when i go to sleep. But its one of the lesser known soundtracks as far as i know. Its really amazing someone liked this enough made a cover for this.
There is something about this game, about the music of this game, about the story and especially, about Skellige. It's my favorite game of all time, and I just started playing it the 5th time (game +). There is no game nearly as beautiful as Witcher 3. I just wish I could play it the first time again. Malukah, you did an amaizing job!

Irish language is very similar to it decently reminds me of ireland everyone on Ard skellige has a northern irish accent.
After playing the Witcher 3, I would find myself singing this song all the time. It is such a classic... long live Sparrowhawk!
Hearing this track stepping into Skellige for the first time ever really washes over you more than a wave of water ever could. It's unbelievably surreal. It's really telling that The Witcher 3 was a product made out of love not just for Witcher fans but for all gamers. Even for ones that favor gun-based first-person shooters like myself, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game unlike any other. And I will say that it's been an absolute honor to experience such a game.

I did find a 15 minute extended version of the witcher 3 version on SoundCloud with no ads, which I would play all night long many nights.

The first time I ever touched a Witcher game was this one; The 3rd one. Once I reached Skellige, it became immediately one of my top favorite scenic places in a video game. Wonderful cover! The ones that disliked it must have been Nilfs!
I was sick Yesterday. So i heard this and the calmness put me to sleep.
Now: its 3 AM. I got up and first thing I m doing is to hear this and get teary eyed.

Man, I love the game and it's music. You simply want to roam through its world, but then remember that it's a sh!thole which would get you killed, if you're not the hero or a higher monster...
PS: I really love their attention to detail both in consequences but also the details of the attires giving away status, use, care, etc. Such as gilded, and etched, but scratched and dented armor, or Olgierds beautiful silk brokade Kontusz.
