Raleigh summers definitely nicer than Ohio Valley, but it was the critters that were untenable. I lived near the new Top Golf construction in Morrisville when I first moved so I attributed it to that, but the random roaches, silver fish, newts, frogs the lake in apt walls and breezeways made me a little crazy. I lived on the first floor so I put a seal around my entry and large heavy door mats i hoped bugs couldnt crawl over. I used irish spring, peppermint spray, sonic bug/rodent repellant, kept Zevo traps for gnats that got into my apt from a crack in the wall my complex found started in the roof 3 floors up. That first summer was rough. I don't recall a mosquito issue but I would put salt in standing puddles after rains to curb that.

Ooh the salt is a good move! We get our house sprayed for other critters about twice a year and it's thankfully worked great.
