I remember seeing that clip in the trailer on TV before the movie came out. Everybody was going to go see Bad Boys just because Will Smith & Martin Lawrence were in it anyways, but when I saw that scene I was thinking to myself "Wow what'd they get into that has them standing on top of a skyrise in downtown Miami looking like gangstas?" The way it's shot you can't tell they're standing on the street level just by looking at the clip.
When will was running 1:34 was pure bad ass. As a kid I would literally go outside with my shirt half way open and be hauling ass down the street like this. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

Fun Fact: They wanted Will to shed his Fresh Prince image in this movie and make him look like an Action Star. Because Martin was already a goofball, they didn't want 2 comic reliefs, so they made Will unbutton his shirt. Will complained to Michael Bay. Bay said to Will you either do it or your biggest career will be Fresh Prince. Will started unbuttoning his shirt and started going to the gym.
In director's cut on the DVD, during the scene where Will slow-mo runs through the shot, Bay says something according to that. He credits that particular shot with helping to launch Will Smith as an action star in the late 90's. He was a good looking guy in good shape and this was his first big action movie where he had a lead role. Having the benefit of hindsight as we do now, we can see it was the right call to make. He's pretty smug about it in the commentary, but I suppose you can be a little smug when you turn out to be right in the end.
This is still one of my favorite chases and the one on Enemy of the State(movie) the guy with the tape when he was on the bike getting chased that was cool
3:11 This shot of Marcus running in this area kinda reminds me of the end of The Sandlot (1993) where Benny returned to the titular environment while being pursued by the Beast. And fun fact, The Sandlot and Bad Boys were both released on April 7th, only the latter was released two years after the former.
The only thing that doesn't make sense about this is why they keep Julie alive after they get away. They don't need her alive. Quite the opposite. The whole reason they're after her is because they want her dead. She's a witness who saw them commit a crime, so they need her gone to tie up that loose end. So why are they keeping her alive after the chase? During, I can understand. She's a hostage they can use to leverage with the police, in case they get cornered, but once they get away, she's no longer useful to them. She should be dead, but she isn't because... well, no good reason for it storywise, really.
Because they have a big money deal at the end of the film. With a private jet to get away. They know the cops are on to them so they keep the hostage until they do the deal and can flee the country.
