Now this is titanium! Watched an entire video of a guy who said he was working with titanium only for me to realize it was steel. If anyone is wondering how to know the difference it’s in the sparks, ferrous metals like steel produce orange sparks and titanium produces white sparks. Sick knife
As someone who used to work in a shop that specialized in forging titanium, and having been the guy that made the tooling to forge it as well as being a blacksmith this was really interesting to me. I can tell you though from experience seeing the color of many titanium parts in forging that you would have had a much easier time had you got it hotter before forging. Most of the forging I saw happened around 1700 Fahrenheit and higher- and that material did not look hot enough to me while you were working it. I would recommend if you do more titanium you try to get it hotter before forging, it should be closer to a whitish orange. I really like the half Rubik's Twist on the handle you did, that style twist always looks classy
Thanks for watching he says..... as if the pleasure wasn’t all ours. What a great video. Thank you for sharing. Such a humble guy too. Notice how nonchalant he stamped his name as if it’s not important. This is the first video I seen from this channel but I’m hooked.
Glad to see someone do something with titanium. I was dreading an upcoming consignment and may still regret it. I have a guy whose father has passed but he was cremated. He had titanium pins in his leg and the family is requesting two knives from the to pins.
that belong to a museum, a jeweler made me a titanium cuff bracelet, never take it off, is so light and respond to nothing, plus at night it comes alive look like a silk ribbon due to that unique gum powder titanium natural color.
Make a titanium-steal combo. Make the edge high carbon steel to stay sharp, then have the middle be titanium for strong support, and pattern weld the two together.
Enjoyed this video, really like the knife. A little surprised at the heating though. When titanium is heated close to its melting point, it reacts with the oxygen in the air. This reaction can be violent. Is this knife for sale and if so, how much?
perfectly balanced, as all things should be
Lol
