    Is there a way to sound the alarm without using the pull-station? Say if I wanted to set the alarm to do a fire drill at my house, could I set off the alarm just by pushing a button on the panel?

      If you use an addressable sounder you can replace it with addressable call point with same address as that of sounder. But the problem here is you should reprogram the panel or else it will show unidentified device or unknown device. If you think you don't need to program it which is no need to see which floor or office the detectors operated then you can go to the panel settings where you can find engineering options there you can find auto learn option which after which your panel takes all detector address and will be in normal condition.

    I have a question, it might be really stupid. But I'm new to fire alarms... I'm thinking about getting this exact panel, I am going to have pull stations hooked to it. My pull stations only have one positive one negative not meant for series can u hook more than one wire to one zone on a panel?

    • @firealarmperson4774
      @firealarmperson4774  7 років тому +2

      To be honest, I would not get a panel yet if you are just a beginner. They can fry easily and there are certain procedures you must follow when wiring power, devices, etc. I fried one by knowingly wiring up the power with the power turned on and had to buy a new one. They also run on high voltage which can be dangerous if not careful. To answer your question, yes, you can hook up as many pull stations as you want to a zone. For this panel, as far as I know, each NAC can support up to 24 devices. But don't quote me on that. I think it is great that you are starting fire alarms, glad to hear it! But I would not get a panel quite yet. I would start off small and get bigger the more experienced you get. I am just giving you advice and precautions because I don't want you to buy a panel and pay all that money and fry or damage it. So again, I would start off with just mini systems with 9v adapters or so and then get a real panel later when you have more experienced. Just as some advice. Great questions, and I look forward to your awesome fire alarm videos! If you want to know how to wire a pull station to a notification appliance without a panel, I made a video specifically explaining and showing how to do that. Just go look for it on my channel, it should be really easy to find. Good luck!

    • @quedub9968
      @quedub9968 7 років тому

      I'm not getting one for a hobby system, I'm getting one for actual safety but... I have been researching these systems since I was a kid but.. I just got my first alarm and am not used to wiring, thats what i meant by beginner so if u have any videos that would help me learn how.... or anything please let me know. I sort of need a panel to get pull stations and smoke detectors, but I still am not very good at the wiring part, Also I have been trying to find a good video on how to make your own power supply for it but I cant figure out how but I would like to make my own DC adapter that is grounded for it's more safe for power surges and stuff. Just let me know if you know any videos that help making power adapters for them cause like u said I don't want to short out my panel :)

    • @firealarmperson4774
      @firealarmperson4774  7 років тому

      The adapters you can just buy online on Amazon, or any supply place like that. I would not recommend MAKING your own adapter or power supply. The wiring part is the part where if it done improperly, it can fry the device you hooked up to the panel's NAC circuit. If the power is done incorrectly, then the panel will short out. (fry). I will send you a list of videos that might help you with wiring, fire alarms in general, etc etc etc. ;)

    I prefer to use speaker wiring on conventional fire alarm panels for demonstration because they’re cheap and easy to find everywhere compared to Honeywell Genesis wiring which might be challenging to find. In fact, I used speaker wiring to hook up my Notifier SFP-1024 FACC which has 10 zones and is conventional and got the wiring from Home Depot and Amazon

    what are the resistors for and how do you wire them

    • @firealarmperson4774
      @firealarmperson4774  8 років тому

      So there are two screw terminals in each circuit that require resistors. So to wire them, you just bend the resistor and put one end of the resistor in one screw terminal and the other end of it in the other screw terminal. It does not matter what end you put it into on the circuit. The only terminals in the panel that need resistors are the NAC Circuits and Zones. Nothing will happen if you don't put resistors on. But it is highly recommended for a system.
