    Wow, it makes me happy to see talented people like you do complex things like this. I would never be able to wire something like this on my own without repeated instructions, but you make it look so easy. You are the most subscribed to fire alarm person on UA-cam, with more subs than even NewAgeServerAlarm (no disrespect to Andrew). Is this what you want your future career to be? I want to work for Chubb Edwards as a Fire Alarm Tech

      Yes, I do plan on going into the fire protection & life safety industry when I come old enough. Thank you for the view and comment!

      I worked for Edwards and I can't think of anything good about the company or it's product. After the 6500, it went down hill from there. The absolute best product and company I worked for was Simplex.

    • @CJ9899
      @CJ9899 3 роки тому

      @@karlkontractor6561 Simplex had and still somewhat has a VERY solid product. Back in the 80s and 90s they had the best customer service. The old conventional systems and devices is what made simplex so great back in the day. Simple and reliable. However, IMHO Edwards still made some ok products past the 6500. The EST-3 has been a very solid panel for them, considering it’s been out for 25 years now. Plus The 66 series panels were also built relatively well. And the ESA-2000, while very quirky, did have some interesting features for it’s time

    Your board looks good however I would like to see grounding so ground fault detection will work and can be demonstrated.

    So would you use a regular monitor module like for your pull stations when using something like a 4 wire detector or duct detector??

    Great video but why did you hook up the 24v power? Isn’t the smoke 12v and powered from the SLC loop?
    Thanks

    • @goalie2998
      @goalie2998 5 років тому

      The smokes he is using are conventional smokes that require power to operate.
      The module is the equivalent of a zone card in a conventional panel.

    Great video! Did you test this module with ES-50x or ES-200x, I did it and have a problem, the MMF-302 open the conventional loop (not only for reset but permanently)... I did this test with the old module like you have in your video and also with the following version.

    I’ve wired mine up just like how it’s done in the video, everything does work, how ever the led light on the module turns steady when I activate the smoke detector ( like it should) but stays steady after I reset the panel. The detector does reset. And I’m also getting a trouble that says open conventional smoke. Please help. My system is a Notifier NFW-100x and the smoke module is an NZM-100. I’m also using an i3 two wire smoke.

    Why is there 2 sets of wires at smoke base?

    • @leoschneider3570

      Because he used a class a circuit which uses a loop type setup rather than a single set of normally open contacts

    Why using power module and why using resistance in module can you explain.

    • @petrithalili7253
      @petrithalili7253 6 років тому

      power is used when smoke detectors go on fire mode. they need higher electrical current. In class A circuit you install the end of line resistor on the conventional circuit side.

    • @Screwdriversteve1
      @Screwdriversteve1 5 років тому

      If they are in the same area or zone all you do is add the new detectors into the Class A loop. There is a power limit to how many conventional smoke you can add due to power supply limitations.

    why would a conventional smoke detector need to be wired on an addressable circuit? why not just add an addressable smoke instead of doing all of this work?

    This is why you always change the passwords to keep people who have no idea how to service fire alarm systems out of them.

    Great video but fast forward music is Barney-esque and way too loud. Seriously did you take that music from a Kiddy show? Always drop the volume of fast forward music in a video. The first occurrence made my dog jump off the couch and run upstairs.
