As a consumer I would gladly pay a little less and risk a creaky bracket once every ten years or so. Hambini is nice, but he is 5 and doesn’t understand the economics side of the house.
It’s very disappointing some Chinese manufacturers are doing this. My friends and I have been buying Chinese frames for years, but raw carbon ones with no branding. They are really good, we have had no issues with them whatsoever, and that’s mountain bikes, gravel bikes, road bikes and TT bikes, frame and forks only.

The truth is their CF frames are manufactured in mainland China in Xiamen using dirt cheap sweatshop slave labor before being shipped to Taiwan for paint.
I know I’m gonna take heat for this opinion, this is an issue because bikes are severely over priced. Even these so-called knock offs are overpriced. An axle on my car cost $280 when I purchased it, it has about 50k miles on it now. My buddy built a “knock off” bike he paid about $2k for. He’s done thousands of miles and taken some KOM’s. I ride a specialized but I love when I see people killing it on a “knockoff”. Try to explain to someone outside of cycling about the price points of bicycles and watch how shocked they are. Getting people involved in the sport is most important so that means there needs to be an accessible price point.
maybe if the bike is steel or aluminum, but cheap Chinese carbon has injured many on the trails when snap city happens. agreed that bikes are rediculously overpriced, but you can get some great bikes that are just over 1 thousand that you can smash trails with.
@@mrbubblebuns3994 That’s the thing, It’s all Chinese Carbon, I can’t call a $400 bike frame or a $400 wheelset cheap. Did the owner give any detail about how it actually rides and handles? Has he ridden an S Works and is able to give you a comparison? That would be great to hear.
A very common sense response. The Winspace/Yoleo/etc Far East brands who are going their own way are doing so by trying to be reputable through transparency, warranties, etc. A knock off that was made by some unknown source is questionable at best, as they've already compromised any trust in them by being unethical enough to make a fake.
Is the frame good and does it work well. I am a cycling enthusiast so if it rides well I would love to have a fake pro bike vs trying to afford a real pro bike.
I‘m all for high quality chinese brands who try to differentiate themselves and build a brand name internationally like „Winspace“ over the past couple of years. But I would NEVER trust a knock-off bike brand to just sit on it and ride down a mountain at 70 km/h. I‘m not dying on a fake frame.
I think it would have been an even better video with the 2 bikes side by side as reference. I own 3 Giant road bikes, so I'm not familiar with Specialized.
@@jds6206 No craftsman's skill here, original or fake. Industrial process in both case. Both probably come from the same factory and same mold in China or Taiwan anyway. But hey, if specialized pay you 300$ for a unpainted frame and sell it 4000$, why not take one from time to time, paint it and sell yourself it for 1500 $? They will never know.
let talk about China brand , 2 month a go i stop by a local bike shop to look for some brand name bike ,I see a UPS truck brought out 5 box of the brand name bike and on the corner of the box said MADE IN TAIWAN , in case you don't know all the brand name are made in China and Taiwan anyway except Orbea made in Spain ,so you willily to pay $12,000 instead of $5,000 with the best group set and the same brand name bike, the question is do you want to show how expexive your bike is or how good is your leg are? remember this , you make the bike look good with your leg no matter what brand or where it come from just how you ride and how to take care of it
Both made in China but one is real and one is fake. You think given the paint is so good they would have put more effort into the logos. Think is for the price of this fake you could have got a genuine tarmac rim brake s-works that would kick ass and come in under 7kg with sram red for around 500-1200USD
Don't stoop to knock-offs. Legitimate Chinese brands that make high quality frames and wheels for a good value: Winspace, Light Bicycle, Seka, ICAN, Farsports, Hongfu/Dengfu.
Cam Nicholls had a Chinese company send him a bike to review. Cam had a local bike shop disassemble it, there were voids in the carbon wrap on the fork where the head tube covers, that would have broke in time, just a matter of when, 1 maybe 2 yrs down the road. None of the bearings were greased from the factory, which would have added significantly in the wattage to operate the bike let alone the symphony of creaks the bike emitted. My point, would like to see a follow up video to see how the counterfeit fared.
Weird how if you farm out your proprietary design to an outside production entity...in this case not necessarily bound by US or EU laws...that exact copies of that frame will show up in the wild. That's why I ride steel.
LOl, I had a motorcycle gear shop tell me my Shoei Neotec was fake. I laughed and ordered the different sized cheek pads anyway because I knew I was holding an original Shoei helmet that was designated for the European market hence the subtle differences like the better ratchet system instead of the US/DOT D loop system. He was convinced it was fake, it wasn’t, just meant for a different market. It didn’t have a DOT rating but I didn’t care because it held the much higher EU SNELL certification.
Yea, same happens when I bring back legit football jerseys from Asia. People say they're fake but it's just made for a different market segment. (Lower income)
@@unregisturd Snell is a higher and newer standard so your analogy makes no sense. The US has now "approved" the ratchet system which was available years earlier in Europe. I sold my helmet after I sold my bike and didn't lose a dime!
Stay away from cheap Chinese carbon mainly fibreglass sprayed black and inferior cost cutting resin used. Stick to aluminium butted bike. The lighter the metal the more easily can be damaged is the downside to having very light bikes
These bike may seem like a great deal but without the rigorous QCs associated with the authentic framework the rider has no idea when that frame will fail. Just hope its not in traffic or coming down from a 10ft drop!
I’m a sneaker head, and trust me when I say UA (Unauthorized) Are coming from China and become a big market here in the US. These UAs can pass like the real thing. It’s not like back in the days where you could tell if they were fake. In fact, it’s hard to tell whats real from what’s fake now a days in the sneaker market. Unless you’re getting them from a direct source of Nike and Adidas, do not buy. There’s consignment shops selling fake sneakers and laundering them with the real ones. Looks like they’re also going for the Bike market now as well. This is insane.
These probably came out of the same factory on a slightly used mold. I've riden one side by side before. Can not notice any difference on straights, bends, hills. The question should really be, how can you get one of these at 33% the price of a "real" one? Signe me up now.
There’s a lot of manufacturers that sell originals and rip offs in the same factory! For those people that don’t race but want a cool bike I 100% recommend going to Ali Express. I have a cipollini and it looks amazing
Interesting, wonder which make this is? Most don't have the headset correct, it sits up high not down integrated and even with the top tube? Good video and informational.
Some times these bikes are just the ones that didn't make the quality check cut for cosmetic reasons. Other times it's just lower quality carbon. By brother rode a carbin bar from a Chinese company that he got from sea otter classic. The bars folded on him a couple months later. Be carful
If you have the money then buy an original. I have ridden an F8, F12 and this year an F, all from china. I'm 6'1" and 16st, 250 - 300W av, 1000 - 1200W max. I've never had anything fail. I'm not rich but then I don't pay blindly either, there has been various channels cutting 'Branded' frames down the middle and finding all sorts of BS going on in side that you can't see, every frame I've bought from China I've bought with clear coat and no decals just so I can see how good (or bad) the construction and layering is....Never had any issues.
@@RudiDwiHartanto do you have this exact replica?? Been looking at it for months and talking to different suppliers.. been wanting to buy and test. Looking for an honest full review, especially on the branded replica bikes direct from China. Thanks

And the manufacture is like "we sell fake frames but it is simmilar and almost as good as original"...
UK customs must watch your channel because they spotted my Specialized frame and impounded it. Don't do it people, it really wasn't worth the aggravation. Got money back in the end but the supplier put up a fight (in their minds they had shipped it so it was sold). Lesson learnt.
That looks really well done for a fake. I still wouldn't trust it though since you don't know what type of strength the bike has. Compared to something like sneakers which have been making quality fakes as of lately you aren't putting them on knowing that if something goes haywire you are on the hook, whereas with a bike it is a totally different story since one crash means that you instantly know that the bike becomes the weakest link.
Main difference between this €600 ‘copy’ or the €6,000 ‘genuine’ product is.....so superficial ,hardly worth a mention. Ridden and built up for people various Chinese branded and unbranded frames. No problems! Would say that quality control not always consistent. But nor is it on the ‘real’ ones. Moral issues riding a copy? Well not really ,because the bike industry has not gotten aboard the Global Corporate Profit Over People mind set. If Carbon frames and wheels are being retailed for silly money, compared to production costs then that deletes any loyalty from the consumer.....just saying!

I live in Hong Kong which is next to the place that's infamous for making fakes. Normally a fake Sworks Sl7, Pinnarello Dogma F frame is around 600usd. Many teenagers buy it for cheap. And there's even cheap Chinese carbon wheels for 200usd. Yes, it looks really cool and real, but I'm worried about the quality of the frame and safety. That's why I don't suggest people to buy these kind of fakes.
same here, it may look cool buut you have nothing to back oyu if there is an issue with the frame or breaks while riding, and you can get seriously hurt if the frame breaks while riding
Most of cyclists in China detest these fake bikes. One may never know when the frames fail, resulting in crash and casualty. I mean for the same price, 500 dollars or so, you can get Giant's ocr, aluminum bike with Shimano Claris or Merida's Al bike. Why buy these fake? What for? Peacockery?
Let's face it, the overwhelming majority of bikes come from the far east. Whether it be carbon frame and components from China to group set from Japan. The quality differences are often minimal to none, because regardless of what it has for logo's, they often come out of the same factories. I'm okay with that. Not okay if it is mis-represented and sold as a brand it is not. Selling something as the "real" thing when not, is just wrong and illegal most places. Still gets a super nice!
yea but also the quality control is an issue, and oyu can have a serious injury occur on this bike and have no one to hold accountable for the product being faulty... and ur stuck paying abig medical bill just because you wanted to look cool on a bicycle
@@GCPerformance18 quality control is relative when the brand name is crap to begin with. I have seen a ton of brand names ( specially cervelo ) where frames just stress crack. Has happened to me twice already.
I don't agree with your take. In the first place, they don't come from the same factories at all, regardless of what people say. Specialized manufactures their bikes in the far east, yes, but they use established carbon fiber manufacturing factories (I've heard Carbotec and Topkey among others) in Taiwan, not China. These fake frames are sold on Aliexpress and originate from China itself, which should already be indication enough that it's not the same factory. Carbotec isn't going to risk losing a Specialized contract for the nonexistent profits of exporting "after hours" frames to China where they'll be sold on Aliexpress for $500. In fact, I've read sources from people who have investigated these frames that determined these fakes actually have different geometry than the real thing, which pretty conclusively determines they don't come out of even the same mold, let alone the same factory. Then you get to the actual engineering of the frame. A real Tarmac or Venge is engineered to hit performance requirements and safety standards, and that's a matter of both the shapes of the tubes as well as the layup of the carbon fiber. A fake is engineered to look real. That's it. Even if it looks similar, you have no idea if whoever designed it put it through any sort of FEA, or put any finished frames through destructive testing, or whether the thing complies with ISO 4210 at all. For all you know the entire frame could have been built out of twill carbon fiber just because it's easy to work with. I'd never trust my life to a fake Specialized or any other fake of a western brand, regardless of how good it looks. (It's a different matter for companies that sell under their own brand, like Trifox or Winspace, etc. They have their own reputation to withhold, and if a frame from Trifox fails it's Trifox that suffers, not Specialized. Hence, I trust them more to have done their own R&D and safety testing.)
These kinds of bikes are quite well made these days compared to 20 years back. A good number of them are closely copied designs but the people that make them are real engineers and sports people. I’ve serviced quite a number of these bikes, they might use standard bearings and seem a bit rough on the inside of the frame but most of the other genuine products are rough on the inside these days too. If the frame meets most of the specs of the original bike including weight, has no alignment issues and the carbon isn’t flexy or soft it could be a good deal. They still ride as fast as the genuine bikes. As usual buyer beware. Its ok if you’re just spending an affordable sum and know what you’re doing with bikes. But a self respecting rider would do a blackout spray job and ride that bike at the head of the bunch and tell everyone they got it cheap from China.
It would be interesting to find out what is the cost of the supposedly ‘OEM’ frameset if it justify over safety concerns. In China, many of the big brands may have domestic issued models that easily cost less than the international versions to cater to their own market. If it is a legit domestic version, at least the quality will not be compromised.
This can be easily controlled if the bike manufacturer willing to assign an unique serial number or barcode for every bike that is purchased from an authorised source. Once online registration is done, and is traceable from all over the world.
One other glaring tell this is fake is that the Venge MK3 was electronic only. So it having mechanical shifting at all is what stands out as the “Uhm sir this isn’t a specialized product” indicator.
Due to increase demand of bikes and parts, these major bike companies tend to subcontract frames or other parts to some smaller companies in china to keep up. They get their raw frames/parts and will then apply branding and logos when they arrive at the main factory. These subcontracted companies have the mould and designs and they make their own, sell it for cheap with the option of putting other brands to your liking. This not only for spez brands but any major bike brands manufactured in Taiwan or China. So basically more or less you get the same quality but not the guarantee.
This is absolutely 100% false. I can't even begin to tell you the myriad of reasons why. The main manufacturers have more business than they can handle. It's the 4th and 5th rate pirate factories that do this..
I had a 1st gen Chinese iPhone that ran on android OS it was cheap and fun, the back said "Apple retain all the power." They're making them for Apple why not let a few slip out with different internals. If you think Taiwan isn't doing the same thing you'd be gravely mistaken. I see no difference between the ROC and the PRC, still China. That bike is rad, cheap and fun sure "Specialized retain all the power" too.
This is what I find troubling. Not that he bought a knock off Venge fakie whether he knew or not. But when he rides the bike, he wears a Peter Sagan mask and long hair rug. He even wraps ballons around his legs to make him look stronger like Peter. To me, that's over the line. It gets worse. When stopped, people think its actually Peter because, he speaks in a high squeaky voice making no sense. So people think the guy riding the bike is actually Peter. This is happening more and more and generally goes something like this.... Observer: Man, that is really a nice bike. How much did you pay? Bike owner: Got a screamin deal, only paid $600 for the frame. Observer: What the? Why so little? Bike Owner: I'm a poseur with less than 200w FTP and struggle holding 16mph on the local MUP and figured nobody could tell anyway. Observer: Yeah but...aren't you worried about quality control and getting hurt? Bike Owner: Not really. Have you read about all the SL7 owners doing face plants on the deck due to steerer failures? I figured the knock off's have better quality anyway.
lmao,. when you said shimano 105, i knew 100% its fake.. a high end frameset and they are using 105?? cmon, even if they use ultegra id still in doubt..
OK. I am tired of these “overpriced” comments. If you can’t afford it look elsewhere. Also, all of these “overpricers” need to realize you are not just paying for the components. These bike companies spend tons of man hours and money on research before they put these bikes on the market. It is NOT OK for someone to rip off their research. That is why we have patent laws. If you came up with a product & spent 1,000’s of main hours and money perfecting it, you are ok with someone ripping it off your name, profiting from it & possibly putting out an unsafe & inferior product?? I am NOT OK with counterfeit bikes/ products.
I love this comment, I am not okay with counterfeit either, at the end of the day this is a knockoff and no one wants there products being sold and giving a bad reputation
It would be interesting to know the price comparison between the fake and the real and compare the ride quality's, and while fakes are always controversial it does raise the question of if a company can rip off a bike and walk out with it being 95% of the quality but lets say 50% cheaper then why are those branded bikes so expensive
just my opinion Chinese knock off is 95% quality outside, 40% quality inside if you lucky and probably costs less than 40% of the original branded price (assuming the high end bunch of bikes). However, it coould also mean if the bike fails, it could be staying in hospital for a week or in Coffin forever! I would rather buy a bike I can afford (and upgrade bit by bit slowly) rather than getting the looks but shorten my life. again that just my peference.
Sometimes you have to have the two bikes side by side to spot it! For Specialized an authorised dealer can do a serial number lookup. Had a fake S-Works Tarmac come in, the serial number was real but for a Diverge! That particular customer bought a fake S-Works rather than a real SL7 Ultegra because “it has to say S-Works!”
Well it's quite easy to distinguish between an original and a fake one. If you do not have the feeling that the bike is way to expensive for the components used (like $3000 for an aluminum frame with 105 Groupset) , then it probably is a fake. 😁
On ethical side I don't understand why people feel a need to have fake swork. It is same with bags, sneakers watches. Don't buy things to impress others buy to enjoy. IMO it is impossible to enjoy fakes. BTW that bike should come with Dura Ice groupset. It is a red flag. Sworks don't come with 105.
same here, I do not support fake products at all, 1 to 1 copies is literally dog shit and jsut rips from the creators, if you take and tweak and remove logos then u have a cool bike
It would be helpful to see a genuine bike and a fake one side by side perhaps. But it’s made me rethink buying a bike off a marketplace, think I’ll save a bit longer and go direct to specialized for my next bike!
Sorry if it was already mentioned ( I didn’t read ALL the comments, just some of them), but the first red flag should have been the fact that it had a mechanical group on it at all. This generation of Venge is Di2 only.
That rear derailleur is not mounted to the derailleur hanger correctly. If the customer genuinely does like the bike.... just imagine what they will think when it actually shifts correctly. 🤯

I’d possibly trust an OEM maker who puts their own name to the bike like Winspace but I wouldn’t even use a knockoff as a commuter.
I have a knock off frame and chinked carbon wheels 3 thousand miles no problem
Is the frame good and does it work well. I am a cycling enthusiast so if it rides well I would love to have a fake pro bike vs trying to afford a real pro bike.
Still 1000 times better than my Triban. Absolutely worth ,so quoting a famous dagestani killer: "Please send me location"
If you want quality you should stay away from legit SL7 for sure. Copy can be good or bad its coinflip but legit is shit :).

very hard ot find and the customer brought th ebike in spur of the moment
You can give identical bike molds to carbon fiber layup laborers and they're all going to make different bikes that look alike.
Exactly. A craftsman's skill is the make or break point on a bike frame.
Right.
yeah but thats rim brake..nowadays majority doesnt want rim brakes
The legit was never made in China. Taiwan is a free and independent nation.
Obvious red flag you didn't mention was the 105 groupset on an sworks bike! 🙈😂
yeah..105 is third behind ultergra and Dura Ace..S works have the much more expensive and lighter Dura Ace plus power meter and Di derilleur
I would buy this any day. It’s a beautiful looking bike.
I can guarantee it is going to be a really good value Option. So much better than wasting money on an actual expensive frame
Just because you say that you can guarantee something doesn't mean that anyone should hold your word for any weight.
Amazes me the amount of effort that must go into making these fakes, they may aswell just try to make a real bike.
The cost for DEVELOPING the engineering
They do.
Bur that's not the Chinese way!
Don't stoop to knock-offs. Legitimate Chinese brands that make high quality frames and wheels for a good value: Winspace, Light Bicycle, Seka, ICAN, Farsports, Hongfu/Dengfu.
Agree 100 percent with this. There are so many companies out there now who have a reputation
I'm currently building an aero road bike from Winowsports, the FM238 which is manufactured in the same factory as Miraclebikes and is known as CR08-D

Imagine spending thousands of dollars thinking a bike would make a average person go faster lol
Weird how if you farm out your proprietary design to an outside production entity...in this case not necessarily bound by US or EU laws...that exact copies of that frame will show up in the wild. That's why I ride steel.
You know it is fake soon as you see groupset 105
The lighter the metal the more easily can be damaged is the downside to having very light bikes
yes they might look nice but for sure you can get something that is not correct and cause some serious harm to your body
At the end of the day you get what you pay for,a fake will never ever be as good as a genuine article.
True MOST of the time, but Not entirely true,. The other point is original stuff often is wildly over priced
These bike may seem like a great deal but without the rigorous QCs associated with the authentic framework the rider has no idea when that frame will fail. Just hope its not in traffic or coming down from a 10ft drop!
A 10ft drop? 👍😂
Carbon frame building is simple. This bike could be even stronger and more reliable than specialized - I wouldn't be surprised!
This is insane.
yea I have seen this in every kind of retail market, this stuff is becoming insane looking
These probably came out of the same factory on a slightly used mold. I've riden one side by side before. Can not notice any difference on straights, bends, hills.
The question should really be, how can you get one of these at 33% the price of a "real" one? Signe me up now.
How to tell it's fake, the rider is competent and strong. Not the usual lawyer with a gut. 😂

Be carful

And the manufacture is like "we sell fake frames but it is simmilar and almost as good as original"...
can you pm me the site?
UK customs must watch your channel because they spotted my Specialized frame and impounded it. Don't do it people, it really wasn't worth the aggravation. Got money back in the end but the supplier put up a fight (in their minds they had shipped it so it was sold). Lesson learnt.
yea it is always the hassle of this when purchanisg it
That looks really well done for a fake.
I heard the fake ones go faster.
Exactly each component is bought for profit
And you're wrong. Quality carbon frame builders, build in quality and check for it before the frame leaves the factory. Wouldn't trust a "copy".....

What for? Peacockery?
Definetly great crit bike, i rather crash this bike than my 10k s-works
Don't buy a knock off bike unless you have a great health and dental plan.
everythings made in china, just slap a brand name and ppl will flock to it. from shoes, clothes to bikes, etc.

Do you recommend buying a replica or not? Really doubting…
An S-Works frame with a 105 group set - LOL
There was a study about people who use knock offs, it tends to instigate lying
really??? that is crazy
It would be interesting to find out what is the cost of the supposedly ‘OEM’ frameset if it justify over safety concerns. In China, many of the big brands may have domestic issued models that easily cost less than the international versions to cater to their own market. If it is a legit domestic version, at least the quality will not be compromised.
sometimes, those thing mostly from same factory or same industry area..
it's probably an alright bike. I would ride it. Probably get rid of the decals. But 105 groupset and novatec hubs are decent components
Main difference is the marketing. LoL.
ooof
This can be easily controlled if the bike manufacturer willing to assign an unique serial number or barcode for every bike that is purchased from an authorised source. Once online registration is done, and is traceable from all over the world.
One other glaring tell this is fake is that the Venge MK3 was electronic only. So it having mechanical shifting at all is what stands out as the “Uhm sir this isn’t a specialized product” indicator.
Whoever made this frame is taking notes
nope I dont think so
They should insert a scan-able chip somewhere on the bike. No recognition from scanning then a fake......
I think the missing #serial number sticker is the most useful bit of info to take away from this. Something to watch for when shopping.
That specialized font looks so off haha
I know it looks like white out
Thats a damm good looking bike! I'd love to own it
Hi do you have some pictures or video of this editions same year but model tarmac ?
Where can i buy one like that ????
Q. If you buy a Chinese copy do you really care it probably only cost $1500 complete and as he says it runs and rides as he wants.
lmao,. when you said shimano 105, i knew 100% its fake.. a high end frameset and they are using 105?? cmon, even if they use ultegra id still in doubt..
I’ll bet they fixed the steerer tube.
fucking killed them
It would be interesting to know the price comparison between the fake and the real and compare the ride quality's, and while fakes are always controversial it does raise the question of if a company can rip off a bike and walk out with it being 95% of the quality but lets say 50% cheaper then why are those branded bikes so expensive
just my opinion Chinese knock off is 95% quality outside, 40% quality inside if you lucky and probably costs less than 40% of the original branded price (assuming the high end bunch of bikes). However, it coould also mean if the bike fails, it could be staying in hospital for a week or in Coffin forever! I would rather buy a bike I can afford (and upgrade bit by bit slowly) rather than getting the looks but shorten my life. again that just my peference.
I kinda hate how good I became to spot Knock off bikes in my bikers squad.
same here
Sometimes you have to have the two bikes side by side to spot it! For Specialized an authorised dealer can do a serial number lookup. Had a fake S-Works Tarmac come in, the serial number was real but for a Diverge! That particular customer bought a fake S-Works rather than a real SL7 Ultegra because “it has to say S-Works!”
really? thats crazy they copied serial number froim another biike......

Well it's quite easy to distinguish between an original and a fake one. If you do not have the feeling that the bike is way to expensive for the components used (like $3000 for an aluminum frame with 105 Groupset) , then it probably is a fake. 😁
the frame is only USD1.800 🙈😂
you should do a side by side with the original so we can see what you're talking about
I would love too but the bike, it hard to find because it is a limited edition bike, so I do not know a lot of people who have this bike
To be fair it's a very good fake, most people wouldn't notice the difference. Interesting to see the small differences.
If rides well, with no problems at all, can we assumer that the real one it's overpriced?
Marketing is expensive! Lol
@@MazzaJ agreed
The best way to detect a fake is to weigh it. Chinese frames are about 400 gr heavier
