    I just finished CROCHETING a cardigan and misplaced the buttonholes. I've been trying to figure out how to remedy this and came on your video!! It works perfectly. I had made a single crochet in the BLO for the band and this worked just like yours. Thank you so very much for posting this gem!!

    This is so interesting! I would love to see the other methods demonstrated.
    Your cardi is gorgeous. The colour and style really suit you. Something I definitely need to look into.

    This is genius! I'm so happy I found this video. I'm crocheting my very first cardigan and forget to make button holes. This just saved me. Thank you!

    OH MY GOODNESS! How did you know I desperately needed this technique. Making a V neck cardigan for my granddaughter's birthday present and forgot to put the buttonholes in while I was knitting... Thank you so very much.

      That's great! I always love it when I find something just when I need it. 😁

    Wow, thanks! This seems easier and tidier than knitting the button holes to begin with. Also, today I received a cardigan from Temu that I really like but I didn't realize it didn't have buttons and now I can fix it. Thank you so much!

    This is a lifesaver. I was going to make machine buttonholes but i think my yarn is too heavy. ive sewn grosgrain ribbon on the back for stability. So now have to figure out what to do . My mom used to do custom knitting for a shop in the late '40's and did machine buttonholes on her Kenmore.

    What perfect timing, I be just finished a cardigan but wished I’d put in an extra button, so huge thank you. I love the colour and pattern of your piece. It really suits you

    Thank you for a very well done tutorial. I needed to add two buttonholes to a baby cardigan for my grandson and was able to do it without reknitting the buttonband.

    What a useful technique! I would like to see your afterthought pockets as well, please. I only know one way to add a pocket, and didn’t know any ways to add buttonholes. Thank you.

    I've just knitted a layette and actually I knitted buttonholes but they don't show very well. Thanks to your tutorial I can see how to fix this. I think your afterthought buttonholes actually look neater. Thank you.

    That is such a great way to add buttonholes. And this way you’re sure to get that buttonhole at the bust line at just the right location so you don’t have to worry about gapping (although in this case, because it is the top button, you wouldn’t actually have a gap). Because this seems to be so straightforward, I wonder if we “accidentally on purpose” should always do afterthought buttonholes…

    Loved this technique and your instructions were very clear! If we were friends in real life it wouldn’t be for long, because I would steal that cardigan. 😂 It’s a beautiful color and so well done. Also, I don’t usually comment on anyone’s appearance because character and content are far more important, BUT your ‘up do’ is super cute!

    Love the colour of your cardigan. You’re clearly a talented person! Would this technique work on a shop bought cardigan? I’ve a merino wool one that’s finer gauge knit than yours … it has buttons but only at the bottom and I’d like more higher up. Don’t want to ruin it!

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  Рік тому +1

      It might. Depends on the size of the buttons. But personally I'd be nervous to try (I was able to practice on a swatch before actually making the buttonholes on the sweater).

      @@NerdyKnitting thanks for your reply. I’ll play safe and stick with adding a brooch then!

      You likely could add some with the wrap method without ruining anything as you can take them back out and close up the hole with some blocking if it doesn't work out and it should be fine.

    How would I make the button hole bigger? I tried this method and undid it twice because my button won't fit through the hole. I don't want to have to buy more buttons. My sweater was knitted with 4.5mm needles with the garter stitch up both sides of the opening. 2 rows knit 2 rows purl and I used #4 yarn

      @NerdyKnitting  9 місяців тому +1

      For larger buttons you might have to cut and unravel a few stitches - but I would practice that on a swatch first!

    Difficult to see what you are doing because the color of the yarn is so dark 😐
