I have been looking at many videos for a stand for a miter saw with side wings. This is by far the most practical stand to make. Very little wood , quick assembly and easy to store. No complicated cuts or miters or hinges. Great work, thanks!
Fantastic and close to what I've been brainstorming to do. Was at HF just yesterday looking at their metal carts wondering if I can "transform" it into a portable miter stand. Those pull out supports are everything! Thanks!!
I've been watching tons of videos about mobile miter saw stands with fold out wings. Your solution was brilliant! It's so obvious and yet only you thought of this. I certainly didn't and I can't find anything on UA-cam that is even in the same ballpark. I will be following your lead on this when I build mine because the wings are stronger and it's much easier to get them level and stay that way. It also reduces the size of the thing which is a big help in my shop. I might go with metal slide out hardware like fat aluminum rails or maybe drawer slides but regardless, I really love your design. I subscribed. Thank you so much Bret.
I love it. I was going to build a station at my work bench bun now I think I’m going to do a slightly altered version of this. Thank you for your video!
Been looking at so many videos on building a mobile miter stand. A lot are over complicated and made from plywood and such. Like the draw idea, fits my needs great video no messing and fannying around.👍
I agree with whats already been said. I have a relative small shop area and I've been looking for a miter saw stand and by golly this is it. I will be building this this weekend. Thanks
Great job on your project. I need a stand as well and your design will work great except 2 things I will change will be length so I can have longer work stock, larger wheels so I can pull around the yard. The one pull out can be a drawer for tools and pencils. Yes I believe your design saved me time. Thanks
Wow, this is so simple yet cool as hell! I would just add a piece of ply or a short “drawer” into one of the arms to put a pencil, measuring tape etc. I really like this concept. Good job! Thank you for the inspiration.
I just started into the world of woodworking and found this video. You made it look so easy to do and your instructions were easy to follow. I was able to build this in one afternoon. Thank you so much!
I wanted to thank you for the slider idea. I built a 10 foot 2 x 4 rail and mounted the miter saw on the box like yours, except the box can be slid all the way left or right. In addition, I created 2 support slides that are also adjustable left or right.
I have been watching tons of videos on miter saw stands. This is exactly what I need. Have you came up with a way to add a stop block? Thanks for sharing!
Not how long ago this was posted but wanted to thank you. Modified the plans a bit (smaller since the DW745 only rips to 23") and built mine today. Pretty pricey now since a sheet of A/C plywood sells for $49! Used the same base and wheels as posted.
thanks for the video . i’m going add a shelf to the lower bracket for storage and add a harbor freight mobile base with wheels instead of wheels to the bottom of the tool stand .
I'm with you Warren. The only modification I would make is adding drawer slides to the extension arms, and a shelf just so I have a place to stack more crap.
@brettwithjack Very creative stand. I like it. I would recommend you wax the 2x4 rails you painted so you have less resistance when deploying the extensions. Nice work!
Sorry for the late reply, I lost it in the move to where I am now but was planning on constructing stoppers because you're right, if pulled to far it will come out. Never sagged on me though. Let me know if you build one of your own!
Great design! Would be an interested in seeing how this would work with a table saw. By adding some make shift rollers to the top of the extension arms out of PVC pipe, end caps and threaded rod through the middle to help slide the wood as it's being cut. But all in all nice work!
This is brilliant! I'm going to build one, but instead of the HF stand, I'm repurposing a solid wood nightstand for the base. I love the pull out extensions - most of my work with my miter saw is rarely longer than what you've shown and I can use a temporary jig with a WorkMate if it's a longer board.
I built this a couple days ago. The added casters (same ones you used, same stand too) are bending the metal at bottom of the stand. It's essentially collapsing under the weight in a sense. I love the ease and simplicity of the build, but I'll have to make my own stand.
use the harbor fright tool stand base . the legs set on the base band won’t move . the base has irs own wheel . use kitchen roller pin instead of the plywood extensions . home depot has angle iron to attach to the 2x4 than drill out tge angle iron for the rollers assemble and slide into the base .
This is very cool 😎! Very simple and inexpensive! Love the pull outs! Looks like a copy-cat build may happen........lol! By the way, it's not the size of the wheels..... it's how a Man handles the irregularities of his uneveness that counts! Excellent piece 👍😎
Nice that it’s cheap and compact, but I want my stand to have measuring built in, more support for wood and easy ability to add stop blocks. Thanks for the link on the casters though.
Just found this video and it is just what I was looking for my mitre saw. I am going to build one using all of your ideas and design. I am going to subscribe to your channel and I am looking forward to your next video.
Brilliant build and exactly the idea I was looking for except I couldn't figure it out on my own. The only question I have is, how could a stop block be incorporated into this build? Thanks!
I am finding that as I pull the slide out, the further I pull the extension the more the end drops. I am not getting a true level support. Have you experienced the same?
Hey good question, so hooks would be cool, that would allow for extension cords and what not. Drawers or shelves would probably just fill up with saw dust. My last workbench had storage underneath but it was always just filled with dust. Let me know what you end up making!
@@Bretts_Builds Good point about the dust. Was playing with the idea of converting a metal cart into a miter stand in order to have some storage but your right about the dust. It would drive me nuts, having to constantly clean it out.
Great concept. Thanks for sharing. Btw, did you have to get your shop wired for electricity or was it already wired? I am wanting to put my shop in our basement unfinished side. I am not sure how many amps I need.
I had a lapse of mind while watching (doing other stuff while listening) and saw you cutting wood on the ground... I thought, “why doesn’t he have a mother saw station?” Yeah.
Nice design but the Harbor Freight stand has a flaw. The bottom flat that connects to the caster is weak and bent inward after a week of use. I had to reinforce it with a 'shelf' of plywood to keep the bottom of the stand from bending. I liked the design otherwise.

After looking at so many builds yours is the one I'm going with. Always the KISS theory. Great Job,
Fantastic and close to what I've been brainstorming to do. Was at HF just yesterday looking at their metal carts wondering if I can "transform" it into a portable miter stand. Those pull out supports are everything! Thanks!!
Extension arms idea is brilliant. Keeps the stand trim and compact. Thank you for sharing your idea. Be well!
Very clever design. Trying to think of a tweak that could incorporate stop blocks for repeatable cuts.

Bravo! Love the design and space saving layout and over all cost is great.
Thank you!

this is such a great idea. i have been struggling withi wings and space. but this seems to be as practical as i can think.
Love the extension arm idea! Very cool
Great video , love the extension arms, I will be building this ,thanks

You sold me on watching the second you tossed the instructions! Lol

I just got my first miter saw last week and will definitely be making this. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Let me know how the build goes

Great idea, thanks for the video. Friend gave me a miter saw, so definitely going to do this for my stand.
Nice! Best of luck with the build, let me know if you run into any snags.
thanks for the video . i’m going add a shelf to the lower bracket for storage and add a harbor freight mobile base with wheels instead of wheels to the bottom of the tool stand .

made it today and love it. Stay safe.
I've been trying to find the perfect idea, and this is it! Thank you for showing this idea. I just subscribed.
The drawers for the arms is a great idea, gonna give this a go for my new Mitre saw. Cheers
I'm with you Warren. The only modification I would make is adding drawer slides to the extension arms, and a shelf just so I have a place to stack more crap.
Lots of great diy mitre saw stand ideas....but I like yours the best. The metal base sets it apart, looks store bought.
Best I've seen thus far....good 💡
@brettwithjack Very creative stand. I like it. I would recommend you wax the 2x4 rails you painted so you have less resistance when deploying the extensions. Nice work!
Unique solution for the extension arms.
Wow I thought I’ve seen all types of stands. This is pretty clever. How do you make sure you don't pull too far? Is it unstable if it's out too far?
Sorry for the late reply, I lost it in the move to where I am now but was planning on constructing stoppers because you're right, if pulled to far it will come out. Never sagged on me though. Let me know if you build one of your own!
Very cool thank you for the ideal definitely going to use it
Awesome job - super creative!
This is really great. Thanks.

Thank you, yeah sounds like a fun project, might have to try it out
use old wooden rolling pins from the kitchen . . perfect length and diameter.
This is brilliant! I'm going to build one, but instead of the HF stand, I'm repurposing a solid wood nightstand for the base. Great ideas! You might want to put a shelf on the lower braces for more storage space.
great idea, looks good
thank you!
Very cool.
Alright, I subscribed.
Excelent, great idea!
Awesome you the man
Hi. do you have an idea as to using stop blocks?
Nice that it’s cheap and compact, but I want my stand to have measuring built in, more support for wood and easy ability to add stop blocks. Thanks for the link on the casters though.
Just found this video and it is just what I was looking for my mitre saw. I am going to build

That is such a brilliant idea!!
Brilliant build and exactly the idea I was looking for except I couldn't figure it out on my own. The only question I have is, how could a stop block be incorporated into this build? Thanks!
Built this today thanks man! And the best part was I built it all out of scrap
Nice! Glad I could help. Always love not having to buy stuff for a new project
Great job bro!
I made this and used the same stand and casters. The corner bottoms bent up. How did you prevent that when weight is on top?
Badazz!
Nie design and I am almost ready to assemble mine. Question: How do you keep the saw mounting bolts from interfering with the extension arms?
Going to use that idea for the extension arms. Great idea. Now you’re using it is there anything you’d change?
Yeah maybe slightly larger casters since my floor is a bit uneven
Great build.. thanks for video..
Hey Paul, thanks for watching
Просто и гениально!
Clever Solution👍🏼
I am finding that as I pull the slide out, the further I pull the extension the more the end drops. I am not getting a true level support. Have you experienced the same?
Did you use an oil base enamel paint?
Clever!
If you were to add storage to this setup, what would you do? Shelf, drawer, hooks?
Hey good question, so hooks would be cool, that would allow for extension cords and what not. Drawers or shelves would probably just fill up with saw dust. My last workbench had storage underneath but it was always just filled with dust. Let me know what you end up making!
@@Bretts_Builds Good point about the dust. Was playing with the idea of converting a metal cart into a miter stand in order to have some storage but your right about the dust. It would drive me nuts, having to constantly clean it out.
@@Bretts_Builds maybe a drawer with hail screen bottom?
Great concept. Thanks for sharing. Btw, did you have to get your shop wired for electricity or was it already wired? I am wanting to put my shop in our basement unfinished side. I am not sure how many amps I need.
It would be nice if you can make at least one of the arms to act as a stopping block as well.
0:16 dang racoons in my crawl space again
I thought it was something straight out of a silent hill game ha.
Soooo, we not gonna talk about the WTF was that moving thru the crawlspace?!?!? No?!?! Nothing?!?! 😂😂😂
I had a lapse of mind while watching (doing other stuff while listening) and saw you cutting wood on the ground... I thought, “why doesn’t he have a mother saw station?”
Yeah.
0:17 What the heck??? :)
What was that??
Same here... had to rewind to check LOL!
Nice design but the Harbor Freight stand has a flaw. The bottom flat that connects to the caster is weak and bent inward after a week of use. I had to reinforce it with a 'shelf' of plywood to keep the bottom of the stand from bending. I liked the design otherwise.
@@markwilson4647 sorry to hear that! I really appreciate you stopping by and watching though. How did the rest of the build turn out?
0:17 was that a WabbaJack?
ALWAYS read the instructions
I thought your extensions were actually drawers. 😲 Probably still could be. 🤔
lmao, i watched because you said cheap lol. What do you think cheap is.
lol
LOL big foot.
Anything but cheap 🤷♂️
