Next video idea: "Buying used food"
You got Dawid mixed up with Ashens.
Second.
Or a used public library keyboard.
@@rollingtroll I forgot about that guy, I haven't watched him since the Ashens movie dropped. Good times.
"This is the cheapest, used can of tuna money can buy" title shows $.89
Holy Moly that shipping damage... how in the world is this thing stil working?! I have never seen a monitor with literal "rabbit ears" like a used book before!
it probaply survived because oled panels are flexible
@@Colin-qz1lu Yeah true I just wondered what kind of torture the whole box was subjected to with that kind of damage and the quite insufficent packaging 😂 Any other kind of panel would probably be shattered as heck
When "ship asap" is the way, the carefulness of handling goes astray. Packages get roughhoused, the sticker doesn't matter. Hell, it'll get kicked to make it "fit" into the roll-container.
@@TheTekknician i can confirm this is true. the amount of returned tech parcels i had to deal with at amazon admin was ridiculous due to parcel negligence
@@FoxrainFuture probably was just on the bottom of a heavy pile instead of impact damage, the haphazard void fill and randomly scattered accessories could've applied uneven pressure and warped it in the box.
Next video: DIY curved OLED monitor.
This, how curved can it get before the OLED actually gets mad. Most of these layers inside have no care about their shape, its really just the frame and power that probably wont like being bent anymore.
This
I'd never want a monitor transported outside it's original box
I was thinking that. I would definitely keep the box and foam it came in for something like that.
Funny thing is, most OEMs explicitly state, that you should not ship the monitor just in the original box. (Lenovo for example), because it’s just for storage.
I mean, I´d pay that money even with a slightly bent corner. That thing used to be 1K and in non US places the prices are even worse. I bet while gaming you completely forget the defects.
Well you can get them used for like 450 all the day now. … I would pay the extra 100 to get a not bend example.
It's time for a law against people who don't care to pack things properly.
yeah, jail time and they are transported to jail in a thin box with little to no bubblewrap via the postal system.
There is in northern Europe, the seller is then the sole person who will cover the costs fully, including eventual return.
I once recieved a monitor padded with newspaper, yea it didn't make it lol
But... I wouldn't have a free VR headset if it wasn't for these people. 😆

Guten Tag. DIY curve is a new one for me.
6:03 Dawid playing Squadrons puts a smile on my face. Come play fleet battles Friday nights, EST.
And that's why you should always try to keep the box for these expensive electronics. They do about as well as a toddler in a car on a long road trip when you ship them like that.
I don't know if this trick works with OLED monitors, but I bought a used monitor once that also had a scratch, if you put a tiny bit of vasaline in the crack it dissapears, I used a chap stick, cleaned the edge a bit and now it's fine.
I gotta admit I'm legit impressed that the monitor is both still working and seemingly working great even though it's got a "dog ear" situation. It's both messed up and truly amazing.
You notice white scratches because they are on a black screen, just put car wax on it and it should go dark.
You really need to get some MDF board that is bigger than the display and tape it to that, ie, the MDF takes the impacts instead of the monitor.
One of OLED's og selling points was being flexible, so knew the bending damage wouldn't have hurt it. Doesn't stop other things from being broken though. 😅
Bend those corners right on back
Oled is surprising flexible
Lets Gooo Dawid!! Watch you don't have an accident fondling that ''OLED'' bro
Every time I see your videos I smile bro, keep doing what you're doing Dawid. Sending love from Jamaica 🇯🇲
I knew it would work, as foldable OLED phones exist. I would lay it flat and carefully apply pressure from my palms and try to remove some of the bend that way. It wont hurt it much as OLED is flexible and shouldn't have any repercussions.
Impressive it survived for sure! When you first took it out I just thought it was supposed to be a curved monitor
If you get an item on EBay that's damaged on arrival are you left with the loss? Shippers going to pay up?
Honestly the shipping company should be held responsible and pay back every penny for any damaged goods. Maybe then they would fucking learn not to hire idiots that throw everything because they are some lazy useless twats that hate their job.
If you can be careful with fragile boxes then you have to business running a shipping company.
if you get a damaged/fake product and the shipper doesn't reply or refuses to refund the money you can just get eBay to refund your money. for example u see a good deal on a graphics card and you purchase it. after a few days you get a brick shipped to your house in a gpu box. the shipper doesn't reply to your msg and ghosts you completely. you can call up the eBay customer support and ask for an refund. if you report them in eligible time (like a week or so) you can get your money back. thats why its recommended to not do your payment off ebay even if 'the seller is saying ebay will take a cut and he doesnt want to pay the cut' its most likely a scam and he will ghost you.
If the seller is unwilling to help you, you can report it to eBay as the product did not arrive in the condition it was sold to you in. I've had pretty good experiences with the eBay team in the past, but typically a reputable seller will be willing to help you out in some way.
I would have filed for an entire refund and ebay would give it. Thats unacceptable.
I buy/sell on ebay sometimes. Yes, if something gets damaged in shipping, the seller is the one liable and you can get a return, and in any case where the seller is at fault, they also pay the return shipping cost. Sometimes the seller will simply give you a refund if the return shipping cost would be too high, or in some cases they will try to negotiate a partial refund if the item is still usable. That said, haggling the buyer for a partial refund is a tactic that often gets abused by sleazy sellers even when the damage/mistake is entirely on them, and you are within your right to hold your ground and either wait for a return or a full refund. In general, ebay's return policy is reasonably good in my experience, though.
It wasn't damaged in shipping, it only made it 1/4 way through the curved monitor processing section of the assembly line
Apparently you can treat scratches with either toothpaste or fat cream (like the ones you use when you have dry skin). I personally tried the fat cream. If you do it a few times, the scratch gets lets visible. Toothpaste apparently works like a polishing agent and removes the upper layer off the panel. Kind of like on faded headlights on old cars. Maybe worth trying.
I’ve always thought the postal service (any of them) are kinda a scam. Not only do you pay them to ship your item but it you want guarantee that it’ll arrive in good condition you have to buy “insurance” on your package.
Why do I have to pay more (sometimes a ridiculous amount more) just to ensure they carry out the service properly?
The oled panel by itself is bendable, is it not? That’s why LG has TVs that are able to roll up with their high end models. You might be able to bend it back to a straight-ish position, but I think the metal chassis will have a higher risk of shearing apart from bend stress.
Still a lot, I ended up getting the Alienware 34 inch ultra wide QDOLED for 400 on sale from Dell
I wonder if you could make a jig to bend it back that applies even pressure to the entire affected area. Might be worth it to save the panel
after 18 months, my lg a2 tv developed a stuck vertical line, 1 pixel wide on the right side. it can't display blue. it seems the vertical lines are common.
Got to the part where you were opening Counter Strike 2 and went "Wow that burn in is AWFUL..." turns out it was the burn-in on my OLED TV I was watching this on...
Man that is such a deal damn! also Is it possible for you to review the LG 24GN60R as a budget monitor? The one you recommended during your 100$ monitor reviews? I'm curious on how well it performs at its price range.
4:56 the gang members were conflicted on whether or not you'd like a curved monitor or a flat one, so they compromised, bent one corner, dented the other, and you have a partially curved gaming monitor!
Damn I was looking at this exact monitor on Amazon (in Japan) and it's like $700 brand new or something. Looks pretty good though!
I only ever tryed vr once on ps4 and man let me tell you having glasses is definetly a living hell for that lol it's cool that zenni makes those perscription plug in lenses tho never seen those before and it's a good idea!
Ive got an alienware oled, purchased brand new, and I've later noticed some scratches on the screen coating. I don't know where they came from, but in actual usage it's impossible to tell they exist.
One of these days i'd like to see a comparison between a mini-led monitor and an OLED. I have a mini-LED with a lot of local dimming zones so it looks quite similar to an OLED. I wonder if there is enough quality increase in the OLED display to justify the cost increase for that premium.
I love this monitor. I just wish I could get myself to buy another one to have matching dual screens lmao its just so expensive and not even 4k which bugs me to the core
What calibration did you do?
fyi, it would have been interesting to see in the LG menu how many power on hours this display has :)
Dawid, I'd love to see a video where you try to straighten out the monitor!
You can always tear the thing apart, hammer the backing that is bend back to mint condition...
Or lay it face down and press with all your weight on the bend 😋
Try to bend the frame back!
OLED has a burn in problem... and usually has 4 or 5 built in ways to not have burn in happen... my 1440p 240Hz OLED monitor has pixel shift pixel resetting auto dimming screen saver. I cant remember the other mitigation they use lol. But ive left mine on for 3 or 4 days before and it does its thing and so far no issues. Ive also had it for about 7 or 8 months now
Vurn?
Dawid continuing his journey to the cult leader look....
Me dumpster diving in college and pulling out a 15" CRT:
"Even with the scratch, this is something I'd be able to live with"
just love your content especially the sound track and humor
keep it up bro👍
What about used thermal paste crumbles vs peanutbutter?
Cool, I recently was looking for a second monitor, but I found an Asus ProArt display for about $40 because it had some scratches and a white pixel on the display, I bought it and I use it as the main display.
box doesnt look that damaged maybe the stand pushed towards the monitor but still should be able to see on the box , looks to me that the owner damaged it and sent it like that
Hi Dawid , i just buy an ASUs ROG SWIFT OLED , and i'm realy surprise for the bright of the screen , it is a 1440p monitor replacing a 2160 p IPS moniteur , i will stay with the OLED monitor , the color are rich , and it seem to show more detail than the 4 k that i had. but the prices still expensive. i like very much your show.
Hey Dawid
I have this model and in the monitor settings it says how many hours it has been used by 'General'>'Information'
This might be useful or to keep in mind for, for the reviewing of the USED OLED GAMING Monitor.
Now disassemble the monitor and try to make it straight! That panel is quite rigid, good thing it didn't break.
Eh, just put a cloth down on the table, set the monitor on it face down and bang on the corner with a rubber mallet a bit. Should flatten right out. Is what I would be thinking if I had ended up with something like this.
About every 3 or 4 purchases I make from eBay arrives destroyed. And it's very clear from the damage done that it is the Shipping company that did it. I make sure to take pictures of every step of unpacking a product so that if there is damage I can report it to the seller and they can go after the shipping company for negligence. I had a Power Macintosh 7300/200 just get mauled by the company that shipped it. Ever piece of internal plastic was broken or damaged. It was terrible.
take it apart and straighten the frame. some light percussive manipulation should get 90+% of the warping removed.
i worked in shipping and those labels get dropped more often accidentally on purpose
I've learned the hard way on eBay. Always, and I mean ALWAYS ask how it's going to be shipped from a small seller. It saves both people headaches down the line. I can't sell on a headset I bought for example because the seller wrapped parcel tape on the original packaging, ruining the packaging. I'd of happily paid for a box!
Cant wait for oled monitors to get cheaper and better, had to return my lg c3 cause it was terrible for faster games like gran turismo 7. Terrible abl. the auto brightness would strobe when driving over red and white curbs
I’ve been sending similar comments on other channels but I am still a big fan and have been watching for a long time. I am writing this in hope that you can raise awareness to the tech community to watch out for scams. I have been scammed out of over $450 trying to buy a Steam Deck and want to help people not fall for such an obvious scam like I did. I'm not looking for free stuff and want to give you the full breakdown and back story of how it happened in hope that no one else will feel as stupid as I did. I also have all evidence pictures/ videos and receipts to prove my story
imo the way it was packaged could have saved it structurally ... even I know ways to protect it from UPS molestation and I barely send stuff out
Is that a 27GR95QE-B? If it is, it's good to know my screen of choice is just THAT durable.
That bend isn't shipping Damage, that's just LG's version of a Xenon Flex Monitor! LOL!
The good thing about oled in monitor is that their soft oled. Meaning even if you fold it the screen would be fine. Only way they break is if it get a hole then their be problems. Phones use hard oled and the bad thing is if it get little bend they break and take the whole lcd with them, soft oled U can cut part of lcd and itll still work but hard even if it get little but broken it turns black
Seller puts delicate instrument on the box but packs it with the least care possible. Wrapping the thing in dried corn husks would probably have been better packing material.
You can try to bend the frame straight….. 😅
I Had a g9 49" ultrawide but my buddy wanted to buy it from me.. he hates buying new when he can help it lol so I went on amazon and found a remaned 49" ultrawide g9 oled for 900 USD... and i'm in love! you are 100% right this monitor makes my good bits dance lol amazing monitors! and that great he is giving you a small refund but yeah just learn to pack things better... only takes a few more minutes to do it right
Now we need dawid to bend it back flat.
Deliveries in North America is like playing destruction roulette. Sheesh. Thankfully in Europe isnt that bad.
Oled sheets are flexible 😊
Hey Dawid. Can you do more videos of a bunch of attrocious gaming equipment that gamify the desktop with some bullshit
The moment when i saw the moitor bent that badly, i have to pause video cause my heart stop beating
"Fragile instrument" on a postal package means "hey courier at least do not play soccer wi'the parcel"
im not suprised that the monitor works fine with that kind of bendy damage... These soft OLED's are pretty durable in alot of cases for example this
Cool...what was the final price w/partial refund??
What on earth do people do to get tech in these states i have stuff for years and they are in great condition
You just got a free curved display conversion!
Hey! That's the monitor I ended up buying, i really enjoy it looks great and feels great but my goodness was it expensive
NOOO EBAY NOT CRAIGSLIST😭
Maybe bend the corners back! What could possibly go wrong?
Have you ever considered making a an entire channel where you order things and then make fun of how badly they were packaged?
I'd subscribe.
How much was the partial refund ?
This is still under manufacture 2 year warranty. So I would try to see if they can replace the panel.
Did you keep the monitor for personal use?
dawids almost at 700k lets help him get there
Next video needs to be you attempting to flatten the frame!
The corners aren't damaged, they just got converted to a curved monitor.
There seems to be a pili defect that is yet unmentioned.
hair lookin good bro
Dawid it sounds weird but put vaseline on that screen where the scratch is
It will make it invisible
what was that last second lol
dang! for a second I thought it was a curved screen!
Is this the first prototip of curved monitor :)
you could definitely just bend the corners back to normal
OLed monitor from 7 years ago? thats gotta be using old tech stuff. they have massively improved it now. plus after 7 years, i would assume people replace their monitors
This is the reason why I only buy monitor locally, can’t trust any shipping companies to handle stuff like a human being
Curved monitors are all the rage these days!
Send it back through the post to yourself the other way up with a "Bang here!" sticker on the corners.
Delicate instrument in the US would just be a challenge to the delivery person.
not bad even dmg monitor seem worth it
Thanks ✌
The whole burn in thing is the reason I will always avoid OLED. It's a flawed technology. Plasma had this. When it was finally fixed plasma was just phased out. That is very sad.
“The sultan of Brunei” lmaoooo
my oled g8 34 cost 400usd in my country, brand new btw
Imagine being the person to get an OLED TV just to burn 24 hour news in to it.
