I got worried when I saw you talking about rap in the last post. All I could think was that it would ruin that beautiful melancholic feel of the original and that it would feel like a waste considering it's one of the few English covers of this song that I hold so dear to my heart. @@willstetson i love the song and i think that you have nailed the fealing of it all tho the "bouth of us are hated and betrayed by our own live" changes the meaning of the son from an open letter to the world to a personal note to someone, which partaly steals the fealing of "you are not the only one who thinks this way" and is twisted to "i feal the same" which might have a negative interpretation of "only me and you feal this way/aknowlage this way of things".

I also can't help but to think how different this version is from Oktavia's version. Not that it's a bad thing of course I think it was amazing and I love how there's a little spin on it with the rap. I think it's really cool though that you can interpret the same song differently to come out with pretty different results that are both awesome and retain the meaning and power behind the words

I love how you went absolutely PERFECT on the lyrics, while keeping the same meaning but also flows, especially the “both of us” sounds really similar to the original “僕らは”! I’m half Japense btw XD and the lyrics always hit as hard as the original and so on point! This is exactly what I called “translation”, because you didn’t just translate the words from Japanese to English like some others did! Good job, David!!

Even though you said it in the community posts and it's literally in the title lmao, I didn't notice that it would be rap, so it was a bit unexpected for me. I didn't hate it though; I love this arrangement and David Toth's lyrics so much.

Kanzaki Iori is a producer whose songs have gotten me through...a lot. I first discovered this song around 3 years ago when I was in 6th grade, which is when I was struggling with a lot of things in my life. To put it simply, I wasn't a good person. But I also didn't know how to be a good person, so I tried to isolate myself from others so that I wouldn't fuck everything up. Back then, music and writing (and discord) was my refuge. And even though I wanted to end it all, a part of me really didn't want to. I never wanted to die, life just gets unbearable sometimes. And sometimes, I didn't even want to die, I just didn't care. It felt like I couldn't feel. It was as if I wasn't even alive in the first place at all.
Whenever I listen to music like this, I feel something. Back then, I was desperate to feel anything. So I drowned myself in this music just so that--for a few minutes each day, I could feel that I was alive.
Slowly, things got better. I found people who I could confide in. I broke away from toxic relationships, matured, and set boundaries. I sang more. I talked more. I tried more things, and found people that I cared about. People who care about me and love me for me, and people that I wouldn't want to upset.
Sometime in 7th grade, I came across your channel in my recommended. I followed Yoh Kamiyama at the time and listened to your cover of Yellow, and Ikanaide, and Zen Zen Zense, and so forth. I took solace in this "safe space" of the music and the voices that the Youtaite, Utaite, and vocaloid producers had seemingly created. I didn't want to leave that safe space, because I was always looking forward to that next song, that next cover someone would post. And that's one of the reasons why I'm still here.
I know that the relationship between a viewer and a content creator is almost, if not always, strictly parasocial, which is completely fair. I also know you probably won't see this, but thank you for singing, Will.
