Wow! I can’t believe my results!! I was getting a sore neck so I think I did a hammock at first, then plop diffuse. I wound up lying on my bed face down, used my ironing board as a plopping surface, then placed the dryer beside my head. Moved it a few times, did a bit of hovering. Then at the end I carefully pixie diffused until 95% dry. My hair is coarse, long 2a and this is the best results I’ve had to date!
I’ve been having issues encouraging my curls to take shape at the roots/front section. This technique has added so much volume, lift AND curl definition. Love it! Thank you!!
This is seriously such an awesome technique, I'm so happy I found this vid! When I air-dry my hair gets weighed down from water, this method keeps my curls together and gives my hair so much more volume. I don't own a diffuser but it still worked great on the low heat setting. :) My current routine right now is plop soaking wet for 20 minutes, spray in leave-in/heat protectant, gently prayer-hands in curl cream, spray thickening lotion at my roots, then hammock diffuse for 20-30 minutes. It's worked so well for me!
Wow!! What a great idea!! I’m SO glad I found your channel! I also have long hair (down to my butt) and finding someone with longer hair was a must for me. I JUST started the CGM today! LOL Day 1 down and a million to go. 🤣
I'm curious how long you stood like that in front of your dryer? I find it hard to try to stand upside down like that for as long as it takes my hair to dry. I would also like to see you show the back of your head during this process. I've tried your process and the back of my head turns into a huge mess. So I'm curious what yours looks like immediately after diffusing and how it looks after it has settled and stuff.
Diana Shepherd Here is a response I found after digging thru the comments....It takes her about 25 minutes but she does micro plop before hand so that helps shorten the drying time.
This really helped my curls I'm a 54 years old and started the CGM around March. I have always had shorter hair and decided to go long and stop using straightener ect. My stylist has also helped me through this and is amazed at new hair growth on my fine thin hair. Also low porosity. My curl pattern is really coming around now didn't realize how beautiful my hair was. This drying method you shared as really helped. Your hair is beautiful also. Looking forward to more of your videos
Finally found someone who has close to the same hair type as mine - makes it so much easier! I am looking forward to trying this technique. I am six months in to transitioning from heat straightening. Plus I color my hair - or at least I did before COVID! I know I have to be really patient and that it is going to take years. I don't know if I will completely stop coloring but for right now, with a husband at high risk for complications from COVID, I cannot get my hair done. You mentioned that your outer hair curls more than the inner - mine too, particularly in the back. Any insights as to why? Really glad I found your channel!
Sending love to you, Kate! I hope you and your husband stay safe and well. It’s very normal to have different curl/wave patterns on your head. I say embrace it or try Smasters technique 😂🤗❤️
Okay, this is going to sound SO dumb. How the heck do you flip your hair back “the right way”? When I diffuse upside down and flip my hair, it looks AWFUL. The curl pattern looks jacked up even if it’s in a hard cast. I literally can’t figure it out.
@@Ls20 ok! since watching this i’ve figured it out! i have to style my hair first when i finish washing . so i section it into three sort of “horseshoe” shaped bands around my head like three layers. so like i keep the top two thirds tied up while i brush out the bottom third, then i take the middle third out of the tied up part and brush it out (always brushing outwards from the scalp so it doesn’t tangle later on) and then finally the top third. then u can flip it and move your head around a lot during diffusing! hope this helps you im pretty bad at describing it but i can maybe link something that visualises it if this doesn’t make sense ❤️
hi! forgive me if i’ve missed the information in a different video as this is the first one i’ve watched from you! what type hair do you have? awesome video and technique, i think i’ll have to try this out!
@@neen42 She told me on a different video. Her hair is 2c, High Porosity, Medium Density and Medium Width. She may want to put this on her description under each video. It's a valid question when taking advice from UA-camrs :)
What do u think about bounce curls defining curl cream? I’m looking for something for my fine wavy/curly hair. Could u suggest me a couple of options? Thank you 🙏
What’s the distance between your hair and the diffuser? How does this compare time wise from handheld diffusing? Is there a way I could do this with short hair? Love your curls!
Hi Connie! Thank you! I stand close enough to feel the warmth, but not so close that it feels too hot on my skin. If it feels too hot, you’re too close (I hope that helps!). I micro-plop before this, like I always do in my routine, so it takes me about 25 mins diffusing like this. For shorter hair, you could try doing this side to side or make sure your head is fully upside down to head the shortest curls in the back. ❤️ if you’re on Instagram, I know a couple of short haired girls that have done this with great success. I’d be happy to connect you with them 🤗
Wavy Curly Ali I follow @welshiecurlgirl on Instagram and saw her post today about your hammock diffusing technique. I may give it a try tomorrow. Thanks!
When I microplop it creates sp much wet frizz, I have done a trim, olaplex treatment, deep conditioning treatment, and I follow your tutorial because my hair is also high porosity, medium density, and between 2b-3a (3a if I get it perfect) but I still end up with wet frizz and small stringy curls that fall out, I've tried dozens of products, I clarify once a week because it resets it and gives my curls a better chance on clarifying wash days, and honestly, any less and it feels almost like its over moisturized. I don't know but it's really hard to find what works. I thought my hair was like yours but there's something I'm either using too much or too little of. I pulled back on the amount of product. But that only made my curls limp and fall out within minutes. It started out so wonderful, but it's just gotten worse. Any ideas? My hair has been bleached and I know olaplex treatments help but they make my hair feel like straw, and deep conditioning makes it feel very heavy and weighed down. It's very hard to find exactly the right combo. I tried lightweight conditioner and leave ins, but that deep conditioning treatment, many I've used, all seem to just make my hair feel bulky and gross. Sorry for the long ass comment. Does anyone have suggestions? I follow the method that provides the least amount of frizz......

@@WavyCurlyAli Thanks for the tip! You and yours stay safe as well!
me too, I think part of the reason is the upside down drying, it makes the top hair look great but the underside is stretched out

If you get an answer pls lmk I literally can’t flip at all I just have to style and dry upright or it goes to shit :((
I still haven’t found a good answer :/

It's more oscillating fan than rotisserie chicken lol

Hi there! This takes me about 25 mins, but I do micro-plop before I start diffusing, which also assists in dry time 🤗

I have a lot of hair and it takes FOREVER to dry!
My only adversity towards hammock diffusing is that your hair falls easily towards your face a lot more.
Approximately how long did it take to dry your hair this way?
