    Uh oh. I'm putting my golf swing in to an analysis app and giving myself a once over. Probably a stupid idea. but this app is free and allows you to see how your swing looks under a microscope. Virtual Pro let's you draw lines, change the speed, compare your swing to pros, and more. I see some areas of improvement, but there are still things I need to work on.

    Stay tuned, because this will be something I will post on a regular basis for a while. Im going to attempt to document my swing changes over the coming weeks and months.

    thx for posting😆 just shows feel is not real. one side note: the app is REALLY great, the best one you can download right now. BUT, as with all videos of a golfswing, you have to be conscious of the parallax-effect. what you SEE is probably not what actually happens. big kudos to the engineer of virtual pro, again.

      That's true, and honestly, I might be done with doing video analysis. I think a lot of times, amateurs like me can get too focused on how the swing looks, instead how the swing performs.

    What happen if you think 3/4 swing? You should also try to take it back to what you think is outside. It more than likely will be on plane.

      I have experimented with those things. 3/4 seems to give me a bit more consistentcy.

    Have you tried laying the club on your shoulder ( art of simple golf)?

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  4 роки тому

      I havent seen that, but I've seen plenty of Art of Simple Golf. I had the thought of trying to let my grip cock behind my head, but havent played with that idea yet.

    Your swing thought is spot on in my book...K.I.S.S.
    Your second shot on this video look good...don’t pick your own bones ...it looked like it fits your body and you
    Keep that thought process of throwing the club to your target and the rest of “YOU “ will follow...it’s your swing you built it to fit you with the time you have to invest
    Understanding why the ball does what it does when we make contact with it really helps our swing more then what we may believe...we move our body parts to make that wanted ball flight ...I did say wanted 😉
    We are not or may never be the 1% PGA pros we see on TV so why don’t we all just understand our body’s capabilities and move that ball from point A to point B the best we can and have some kind of enjoyment
    Nothing wrong trying to improve but ....but don’t pick your own bones
    K.I.S.S.

    In my eyes your whole swing is about hitting the ball rather than swinging your club to target me thinks. Gotta forget the ball and just swing the club dude. However, you shot even par back 9 so something is working for you no matter what your swing looks like 🤔🤷‍♂️
    You're very much like me, very self judgemental and beat yourself up when things go wrong I've also got slo mo video playback etc. Best thing I ever did was watch anything I could find on Manual de la Torre and just learn to swing the club easy and stress free.
    Very interesting Vlog though as always Chad 👍

      Thanks! Yes; Hitting at the ball has always been an issue for me and I'm trying to shift that. I have my work cut out.

      @@GolfTestDummy have you ever watched Paul Wilson? He takes some getting used too but his swing philosophy is spot on, I noticed you dont have much hip turn at impact so maybe worth watching a few of his vids 👍

      Yeah. I have seen a metric ton of UA-cam golf instructors, Paul included. He has great messages.

    Awww man you nailed the proximate cause that puts you in the wrong positions throughout your swing in the beginning of the vid.
    It’s your takeaway. Look how close your hands come to your right thigh on the takeaway. Staying wide will keep your hands and the club from coming so far inside on your takeaway. And watch…that’s going to greatly affect where where you are at the top of your swing.
    Or maybe you figured it by now…

    Bob Rosberg told me once when we were playing together what in the heck was I thinking about in my backswing. I said everything.
    He said just think where you want your hands to be at the top of your backswing and place them there -- stop thinking how to get them there. It works.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  4 роки тому

      Great thought there. For some people, like me, complicated waves of thoughts are constantly bombarding your swing.

    Great vid Chad. Self analysis is great if you’re able to remove ego which obviously you are! A short repeatable swing is far better. You won’t lose distance because you will not be wasting any energy in “saving” the swing. Just look at Jon Rahm, Tony Finau and Tommy Fleetwood....

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  4 роки тому

      I'm always jealous of Tony Finau. Half swing, and one of the longest on tour.

    This looks like my swing issue- too far in the backswing. So when the body starts turning on the way down, the arms are too far behind. Your brain knows the only way to try n catch up is the shortest route- which causes the club to stand up off plane in a race w the body to meet at the ball. FANTASTIC, thanks for the video !!!

    GTD - now you're getting to the root of it all!
    Your issues are not over swinging. You can over swing all you want. (J Daly). All the issues are caused by the swing plane and all the compensations required to re-route the club back to the ball.
    All the issues start with the extreme inside take back.
    I just spent three months losing my inside take back. It's not easy but WELL worth it.
    Check out this Malaska video about the swing planes and what you deal with based on each type.

    You're on the right track now...

      @@GolfTestDummy Yeah man. I'm doing the same, without the youtube channel. In the last few months, I've literally tried a different swing method/philosophy every week. I'm coming back off a 10 yr layoff so no better time. No pressure. No golf rounds. No laughing buddies, no donating to skins games.
      You learn a TON doing cycling through different methods. But it's hard for most people to do because they have that weekend game with the buds to keep up.
      I've always taken the club back way inside and come back at the ball way too inside out. Back when I lived in Hedingham (NE Raleigh) I got to a 3 hcp playing like this. But I practiced ALL the time and always struggled with the occasional shank.
      Now, thanks to all this free info on the web, I finally know WHY that was the case. I also know all the other issues with a inside/flat/inside swing and have decided to just fix it.
      After lots of no-ball drills in the basement over the last few weeks it finally feels pretty normal. Went to the range yesterday with a 8 iron and hit 40+ balls dead at the 150 flag.
      If you can get a nice clean simple no BS swing plane (like it sounds like you want), the golf swing can feel ridiculously simple.
      Keep up the good work. You really ramp it up when you start using video. I'v been using the free V1 app and it will open your eyes for sure! What you think you're doing...you're not!
