Japsiman and I tried to do this run with Small Mario and Small Luigi. We got up to 8-3, and the Hammer Bros were a nuisance. It would be pretty cool to see it happen at some point.
8-2 is pretty gnarly as well. The enemy placements are so different compared to the original. I do like the idea of having Luigi be the lead due to the screen positioning, and the 4-2 wrong warp is absolutely brilliant in this instance!
GGs to you and Schlimtor for beating the record! It would be pretty neat for all 4 of us to race this 😉

Man, it's _SUPER_ cool when you have an opportunity to team up on stuff like this. This is such a neat challenge, and as usual your unique knowledge of SMB warps manages to pop up in a super interesting way that reshaped the record!

When SuperSonic told me to try this co-op 2P rom hack of SMB at the time, I couldn't refuse. As soon as we started playing the game, I was very surprised that it was just so different, hard to explain cuz you had to play it to experience it.
When we started speedruns, it did become frustrating personally, due to how different the rom hack was comparing to the OG SMB in terms of gameplay, button inputs, enemy locations and what was going on in-game. On top of it, like you mentioned, the 2P interaction was very important, like going down pipes. We had to develop a strong sync together, which we were able to quickly.
I do remember we met for two weekends, each devoting around 6 hours of attempts on stream. It was stressful and mentally draining for the most part, just because anything can go wrong, even if the strat was pulled off perfectly lol. But that final attempt on the 2nd weekend we met up was the moment I still remember to this day.
GGs to you Kosmic and Schlimtor for the WR. I knew it was only a matter of time that 2 players were to join forces to get the WR. SuperSonic and I are currently going for both small strat whenever we have time, but it is absolutely infuriating as of now. Besides that, I am glad you both got the improved WR. It is a pain to play this game as a speedrun, but is possible to do with the right partner. Thanks for the honorable mention and loved the video. Definitely learned something from this! Woohoo!!! 😊🎉😅

This hack makes me feel so weird, because I have a false memory of playing Super Mario Bros. with my cousin on his NES in the early '90s where the 2 player mode worked like this, with both characters on the screen. I was really small at the time, and when I got a little older and played SMB on my friend's NES and it wasn't the same, I realized I must have just misremembered. But now the hack exists and I can actually see the impossible game!

Hi, getting WRs is always a good time, I used to playMM2 but I gave it to my brother who does not live with me. I'd be trying for WRs in Minecraft but they have not made a 1.20 category. I'm sitting in 7thnow and will remain there until the change. Maybe I can go fast with more diamonds available but it would be premium to get first on the proper one with he new features. This 2 player reminds me of DMCA br :Mario br. The new Mario's look good!
