Completely true. Azarenka is one of few players who can actually stay in the rally with Serena, forcing her to take a step back from the baseline and hitting some extra shots. This was not the best Serena, but Azarenka impressed me with her fighting spirit and deserved the win.
This was a nice match but the way serena was rolling in those 2nd serves even on big points just makes me think of how serena used to play dementieva in non-slam events. But vika still had to step up and take it so props to her
They're of different generation. Maria made progress in grand slams way earlier than Vika despite their ages are close. And it proved that Maria's so called monothematic game worked when she was on because she managed to win titles when Henin, Clijsters, Mauresmo and alike were around. People talk like Maria is a ball basher without any talent, but to play such an aggressive game, not everyone can win as many matches as she does.
I'm always shocked and disappointed by the useless, unproductive and venomous hatred that is spewed out in these, supposed, comments. Breaks my heart to see so much HATRED for someone you know nothing about. I have met both ladies in this final and they are both human beings who have done a great deal for the sport. I guess some of the comments listed below are what you end up with when you leave people to follow their true nature.
