Maria & Vika REALLY hated each other 😂 Maria hated losing to Serena but I don’t think she actually hated her as a person which is why they’re on friendly terms now, whereas I’ve heard from multiple people that Vika & Maria still hate each other 😂 Gamewise though, Azarenka was more well-rounded than Maria, Sharapova had a few big holes in her game (her serve, her movement, her net play) which Vika knew to exploit. Against pretty much anyone else (excluding Kvitova, Vika and Serena at this time) Maria could make up for her technical holes with her intensity and her crazy fighting spirit.

Azarenka and Kvitova were the only women from this era that could challenge and beat Serena consistently because they both had aspects of their game that they were better at than Serena.

It’s so crazy how they grew up playing on the same courts together. Jankovic has an incredible backhand and a great forehand down the line. However, Ana has the forehand that you only see once in a while. She hits with a classic grip, which makes her shots so heavy. It’s like forehand vs backhand

Damn Stosur hit the ball with heavy top spins. Couple of times here the balls move in such a weird way. Before there was Iga Swiatek, Stosur was among the first few women who utilizes heavy top spins effectively. Azarenka back then was a worthy world no 1 player. I could only think of her & Serena as a worthy no 1 player back in the 2010s.
