Noddy is an absolute rock legend and one of the best frontmen ever. I´m glad he's looking so good.
Shame the late Brian Connelly of "The Sweet" wasn't still around, because he also was
a "Great Frontman" for the band, and they also knocked out many "Great Hits" such as
"Blockbuster, Ballroom Blitz, Hell Raiser, Rebel Rouser etc"
Can you imagine a young fella in a cold Siberian town in the mid seventies holding "old, new , borrowed and blue" in the times of the Iron Curtain. I fell in love with the band right there. Anyways, my favorite has been and will ever be "nobody's fool". Fantastic album!!! Then I kept growing, moved on with my artistic preferences to Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, EL&P and the likes, but Slade has taken a certain very special place in my heart since those adolescent years.
@@garyduncanson1991 Wow, Gary! What a small world! Ask your spouse, if she remembers where the Shukshin Drama Playhouse is located, the Palace of Sports, The Siberia Hotel? This is the neighborhood where I spent my childhood and teenage years to finally be conscripted for a military service in 1980. I visited Barnaul only once since than, now living in Canada. I still maintain communication with my buddies from Altai. Extend my warmest hello to your wife! P.S. Never been a big fan of the Russian Rock, but adore and worship:):) the art of Aleksey Kozlov and the Arsenal, though:):)
That man is Slade, nobody can replace that voice...

Must be one of the best live bands ever as a kid in the early 70s I saw Slade ever time they came to London thanks to my paper round I got in to Slade coz my brother had the alban play it loud and I would always nick it to play and I still play it to this date 2022 52 years after it’s released date ……… Thank you Noddy & Jimmy for the sound track of my youth
The best song writers are by date .. Lennon & McCartney .. Holder & Lea .. Strummer & Jones

What a great interview. I saw Slade only once in 1976 when I was 14 years old. They were touring North America and were on a cross country trip across Canada. I don't remember much about the concert, I wish I had a set list from the show (Winnipeg July 11th 1976) but the thing that really sticks out in my mind was a FM radio interview Noddy (I'm not sure if the rest of the band was present there or not) did the night before the show I saw. I phoned in and got through and was able to talk to Noddy. He asked me if I would like to hear a song and I said ALL THE WORLD IS A STAGE from the brand new album NOBODY's FOOL. He said he certainly would play it and then the radio station went to a commercial. I thought that would be it but Noddy kept talking to me on the phone, so I asked him how I could get into the Slade Fan Club. He said sure I could and so I asked him for the mailing address to write to. It was on Montague St. in London but for the life of me, as a Canadian I could not understand what he was saying in his thick Black Country accent. But he was patient and spelt it out for me and the next day I sent off a letter to England to find out how to join the fan club.
Still sticks in my mind 44 years later, thanks Noddy.

One of the biggest voices in rock history. And one of the most humble voices on record. Was priviledged to be witness of Slade's greatness at the 1980 Reading festival where toilet rolls were used as confetti. Thank you lads for the great music and the fun times. Cheers Noddy.
If the Stones can still play, so can SLADE, I would come from Canada to see these guys just once for even 5 min. Wish the guys would just do it for the fans for a final curtain call. I think they are the most underrated rock band of all time. Keep on Rockinnnnnnn.

They were underrated. I seen Slade everytime they came to town. Great musicians!! I'm from the US and St Louis loved that band. No one will ever sound better than Noddy. Thank you for all the good times!!!
Aww, brilliant to see Nod looking so well. It'd be bloody great to see Slade get back together. You gotta have a heart of stone not to love Slade. They lit up the early 70s.

I wish the super musician and the super person many happy years! I love you, Noddy. I sang your songs at dance parties in the USSR and was hated by communists but loved by ordinary people.
35 ish years ago in elementary school I met a kid and his first name was slade. His dad named him for his favorite band and that was my first exposure to this wonderful band.
What a decent man, a great survivor and a Wolverhampton FC fan as well.

This interview is an example of how it should be done. Excellent! I saw Slade perform in Plymouth when Gudbuy t'Jane was number 1. For that reason it will always be my favourite Slade song. They were a great live band.
My late father took me to see Slade in concert at "The Bristol Colston Hall" in 1975 !!!

Slade best band ever
I lived in Israel when Gud-buy ta Jane came out, I was about 25 or so. I had a younger friend (he was about 15) whose dad had been killed in one of their wars. When it came on the radio, we used to sing along with it while we danced around. (I know that poor kid never really got over the death of his dad, and that song made us both very happy. They played it about ten times a day on Israeli radio). One time after the song was over, he looked at me and said "Father!" I said "No, your dad is gone forever, but l'm your big brother if you want." 😢

Greetings from the US. Slade is still going strong here around the amusement park rides at the county fairs and festivals. Still blowing out the eardrums of our youth.

Slade, with Noddy and Jim, after 50 years, still one of my all-time favorite bands! Their songs are so good that mediocre artists, or even amateurs, make them sound very well.
Brilliant to see Noddy, he looks and talks so well.
When I was a young lad I went to see Slade for the 1st time in 1973 at the old London Hammersmith Odeon, that was the Mecca in them days for all the big bands, my brothers girlfriend took me, I was 9 years old, my dad had paid £50 quid for each ticket from some guy in the pub, that’s probably the equivalent to about £600 - 700 pounds in today’s money, I’m guessing here, but probably about right, anyway the gig was amazing, and even though it was nearly 50 years ago I remember it like it was yesterday.
Over the next couple of decades I must of seen them at least a dozen times, never ever a poor show, I’ve seen most of the top acts over the past 50 years and Slade are 2nd to none, full marks to Noddy, to them all, they all played there part, Nod & Jimmy, great song writers, Don Powell (Mr Memory Man), a great driver on the drums, and Dave Hill, though being a bit strange, was a great man to have on stage, plus not a bad guitarist either.

I loved being the only kid in Ottawa in 1972+ that had their albums. When my mum visited England I told her bring me the #1 album and a love affair was born.

What a glorious interview. Thank you and thank you to Noddy for being so open. I was 13 when Slade hit it big in Aus and Slade Alive was one of the first albums I ever owned and still play to this day. I must have been one of the few people who thought Slade in Flame was a brilliant movie back then. It was a John Osbourne or Harold Pinter styled drama dealing with the music scene when people were expecting a Cliff Richard "Summer Holiday" type of film. I was so happy when the special edition on DVD was released a few years back and I could watch it again and my thoughts haven't changed. I would have liked to hear what Noddy thought of what happened and the rave reception that the band got when they played the Reading Festival (when everyone expected them to be a flop).

Slade Alive; the best live LP that I've ever heard - I'm in my 60s. ACDC's "If You Want Blood" is pretty good too but Slade Alive sets the bench mark.

Love Noddy! Great personality! So many good numbers. So much good music. Gudbuy T'Jane, Cum On Feel The Noize, the summer X-mas song ;) ... Two of my very favorites are "My Oh My" 'cause it's just such a soaring production (and my first exposure to Slade as a youngster, along with Run Runaway), and "How Does It Feel?" , because it just fit *so* *well* as a theme song, but especially for the girth in that chorus. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the sound of a bari sax!
As with many others, I never realized Cum On Feel The Noize was a cover until YEARS later and have since come to love both. Noddy wonders why it wasn't a hit in the USA. I think it had something to do with the way the song was written. Maybe a bit too busy for American listeners. Whatever the reason, for me, I always thought that one of the key differences was that Slade's version was more pop/rock whereas America was getting firmly into the heavy metal era and Quiet Riot was definitely metal music. The way it was produced also gave the song a lot more energy and forward momentum. Plus the guitar solo in that tune is just a thing of beauty.
Great respect Noddy asks to convey my uncle! Slade is his favorite band! In 1986, he sang "Far far away" to the guitar in a dorm song and met his wife)) from Russia with love!

When I was a lad in Bradford you were either Slade or Sweet, I always identified with the Slade Vibe, it was a very similar to the Oasis / Blur rivalry in the 90,s. Back then I didn’t really appreciate how amazing Slade were as both musicians and performers, it is clear now they were one of the greatest Rock groups of all time. Noddy is an incredible vocalist and guitarist, he makes playing and singing look simple, he is a genius. I never had the opportunity to see them live, so would love it if they reformed for a few gigs. Get it sorted Noddy, suggest a series of concerts to get the feel good factor back in the UK, to celebrate the End of the COVID lockdown. The country would love it. Keep Rockin😜👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I sussed this one out as I’m a big Slade fan. Brilliant to get a re release of re released stuff from slade packages over the years. Still, interesting stuff to hear about and worth checking out. A brilliant insight into what would have been an amazing life back then. And Noddy still is a very talented musician writer. Thanks for an informative charming interview. It's good to know slade is still around just living like us.. they quit ahead before the road destroyed them.. it's sad you can see in nods eyes he would love a reunion but it's better to remember them for what they started as a real band and not destroyed..

oooh thankyou for this loved Slade when i was very young (9/10 there abouts) was mainly from listening to the older kids in the neighbourshoods' albums of course (parents not going to buy those records back then for me) :) loved 'Mamma weere all crazy now' :) and especially love come on get with it :) and runaway (now after so many years of not hearing it) what an awesome interview .....so good to see Noddy looking so well and still looking young :) ahhhh what awesome memories thankyou Noddy and Slade for such great memories....don't regret any of it
