So...if she had just taken the money, no questions asked, no tape watched, could this have been avoided?
Yes
probably not they knew where she lived so… and could possibly track her down if the money had some tracking device or smth idk
To be fair it was different in the manga. Originally you accept to participate the moment you open the box.
Technically even after watching the tape she didn't have to go
I think so too but at the same time the curiosity would take the best of you thinking who left that money and why and eventually she would had watched the video and be entered into the game sooner or later.
I watched this show on Crunchyroll. The sheer stupidity of the main character makes me really angry BUT the games are really well made and the other characters are interesting enough to keep you entertained.
You mean the girl? She gets better in the manga

@@cl1cka yes but she didn’t know what she was getting into. It would have been better (to a western audience) if she knew the true gravity of the situation and went with greed over her, or someone else’s well-being. Just because no one put a gun in her mouth and told her to play doesn’t mean it’s not still a weak plot device. (Usually) the plot should not push the characters, the characters should push the plot. I’m not trying to attack the show in anyway, the lack of character development is probably a cultural difference. A lot of times in anime’s or Japanese/Korean shows characters have little character development (and sometimes motive), the evil characters are evil and the courageous and selfless characters a courageous and selfless. A lot of times in western media this is a sign of weak writing but this is usually not the case in eastern media.
I've read the manga and I honestly don't mind Nao and her willingness tp help others trope. Sure it is not necessarily ideal for the Liar Game but it kind of makes Akiyama's strategies more impressive, having to circumnavigate around Nao's principles and all of that.
With the validity that Cinema Summary calls out the absurdities in these crazy scenarios every time, I am starting to speculate that he should have the 1,000,000, instead.

@@guy_who_animates You can't lose what you don't have and you can't keep what you don't kill.
After hearing the rules, I think the best option would be to give each other the money so we technically ‘stole’ the other persons money. In the rules, it doesn’t say you keep what you save, just what you steal, so the best solution is to use the million yen to trade for the other persons yen. This also has the be if it if not making enemies, as everyone’s happy
This strategy won't really work, it will only be the same as if both players didn't play at all.
The video has a very simplified version of the rules.
In the show, it is stated that the player with the most money at the end will win. The Liar Game Agency will take back 100 million yen from each player, the winner keeping their excess and the loser being in debt for the amount they cannot pay back.
So if the players trade their money with each other, it will be treated as if there was no change at all and the game ends in a tie with nobody winning any money.
It is kinda the point of the Manga. If EVERYONE works together, all of them CAN make out of it. All of the games are in fact tailored in this fashion.
And then, human greed entered the chat
That's honestly pretty legit however I think the hosts wouldn't allow it.
@@whenevertheycatchyou5442 I thought it said it would take whatever they had left of the orginal money. a full swap would leave them both with the 100k wouldn't it?
Lol you're trusting that the other person would also give you their money to complete the exchange basically still heuristic thinking But most importantly to WIN the conditions clearly stated to win you must have a total of 2 million yen! you return 1 million and keep the other. Your strategy doesn't satisfy the winning conditions for the game, it just induces a draw which already even exists without your idea of trading

This show has an organization that can actually make a profit. People fight over cash and when the fight is done, the winners profit while the losers get debt. If that debt is obtained by any means nessecary, the organization has reached equilibrium. If the winners want to drop out, they must pay back some of their winnings or all of it, so the organization gets a profit.
Economy noises
that's not correct. Imagine you have only 2 players and you give 5 dollars to each one. you are 10 dollars down. Then one of them steals the money of the other, wins the game, gets to keep his 10 dollars, and the loser pays you the 5 dollars he owes you. You still end up 5 dollars in the negative.
After everyone pays you what they owe, you always end up having to pay 1 of the players his initial cash.

I'm glad I can basically watch movie recaps with your vids because man the premise would be triggering me. Watching a VHS tape that you don't know the contents of means you agree to terms it has yet to say. Money isn't stolen if it's sent to you by name, gotta remember to mail myself the money I steal from a bank.
If you watch the other movies ud be ever more triggered
14:00 No. The young lady can't stop playing. But, the conman can stop playing. The conman isn't technically a player. So he could have walked away until he went to stop the young lady from playing and became a player that way. 30:00 So another player having your name plate doesn't prevent your vote from being counted. So the strategy of stealing someone's nameplate to nullify their vote wouldn't work. So stealing someone else's nameplate would be pointless unless you could get it off of the premises.
Also, there is a much simpler way to beat the Liar Game than anything that you laid out: Lawyer Up. No court would say that watching a video tape constitutes agreeing to a contract when you were not given any warning to that effect. So keep the initial cash, find a good contract lawyer, and beat the game's organizers in court.
Also, "The only winning move is not to play." and other such memeworthy phrases.
you think the court would agree to you when it was implied it was the government behind it?
I love Liar Game, I've watched the entirity of the series including the movie and honestly I was surprised how the ending turned out, but I enjoyed all the deception and the strategies Akiyama came up with

She was called "stupidly naive" like a 1000 times in the show. She was created to be dumb. Her not being dumb would ruin the entire premise of the show
I love the archetype of characters like Shinichi Akiyama. They get away with everything using their cunningness and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Anyway, this story is an interesting twist, since usually death games are analyzed on this channel, but this is a _debt_ game! It seems like this video doesn't show the end of the story, so I wonder what happens next.
All seasons of Liar Game are truly brilliant and if you watch through you begin to realize why Nao is written the way she is. The whole point actually is if people calmed down and stopped being greedy they'd realize they don't need to play against each other but that the real person they need to beat are the game organizers by working together. Almost every game in the show can end with everyone working together and paying each other's debt

Great video. Fantastic games.
That said, as an avid fan of the Liars game series I just wish I didn’t have to brace myself for the comments being entirely about how dumb the MC is and not(not in the show as much, so this doesn’t really apply here) her massive growth or the reason why she’s that naive.
But Akyama literally would not help her if she wasn’t this pure, and people like her exist, so watching her growth over the manga was fun. Going from the type of person to return a quarter to the police(her character intro), to someone who could play serious personality games without Akyama, you just had to not mind the beginning.
Plus, great games, just fantastic games.
I actually had the exact personality as Nao in the very beginning of the liar game. I didn't know it at the time though, yes, I was that naieve and pure, which honestly looking back was sad.
Anyways, in my early adulthood/college years I met a sly trickster and got a lesson of my life.
I'm changed now and not as naive.
This is my favorite manga. I revisit it once in a while. There is usually a way out for them in every game as long as they're willing to corporate. They're Zero Sum games after all. But no one trusted anyone, their hatred tw each other grew bigger when they entered more rounds. However, there's one person who always kept her words, never betrayed, and accepted anyone who wanted to join her. That's Nao. She never changed her belief in human, and she did become smarter throughout the process while trying not to harm anyone with the help of Akiyama, who trusted no one ever except for himself. Everyone realized that they could at least trust Nao for once, and they kinda broke the cycle. I never hate Nao in the manga, she's annoying at first purely because she doesn't understand how this cruel world works, but she's really someone we wanna root for.
I hope we get a part 2!!

The way to win this is easy. A VCR video, not in writing, cannot force consent, and is not legally binding. By watching the VCR tape, it does not force you to participate in the game because it is not legally binding. You did not sign a contract. You did not even verbally agree. You will win 100% of court cases with this problem.
If the game can afford to skew and involve police officers what makes you think you’re safe in judges hands?

I been trying to think of a way to argue this, and I can't think of one realistically, because money does actually just rule the world.
If you brought it up and made a public ordeal of it, most of society would side with you and call it injustice, but you would just be silenced, and media would be paid off to make you look like the villain.
Of course, there's no 100% guarantee this will happen either, so it's worth a try to bring it up with the court. Worst they can do is make you honour the tape, which is happening in the film anyway.

Best way to beat the game.
With the initial money, invest it i to several different stocks. Choose safe ones that are rising slowly and steadily. At the end of the month sell it all, keep the profits.
Since you physically don't have the money, it will be extremely difficult for the opponent to steal it. If you play it safe you'll get a few thousand dollars profit, if you take a bit of a risk, you could end up with a bigger profit, but might lose some of it if a stock drops.
So I'd play it safe, no reason to be greedy.
I once went to this field trip at school and played a game there, the rule was that we had to point to someone on the count of 3, if that person was pointing to you then your both out. The manga for this was my introduction to the entire death game/high stakes game genre so it was weirdly nostalgic watching this (though I've never seen the live action version)
this was imo one of the earliest "death games" ever. I was reading this manga in 2012 and hope the movie holds up
After i get the money i wil invest the money in the scp foundation to protect me from that tournament
Fair enough
That seems like a risky investment... but it's a possibility.
