@@GallumA She's also at least in her late 30s, more likely mid-to-late 40s. Without makeup, she's not gonna look like a young anyone because she just isn't. Especially after serving in WW2, losing a child to the Philosophers, etc. Stress takes its toll, as does age, and despite that she looks pretty good. But it'd be unrealistic to have her comparable to EVA or Paramedic.

It was clear in documentation, The Boss should look like Charlotte Rampling. The impact the character should have is not 'worn out old soldier lady', it's 'imposing, ethereal, spirit of the battlefield'. ''Realism'' was never the aim of MGS designs for characters.
I actually like the new model for The Boss, it better reflects what her age is supposed to be during the events of the game

@@ArtistRei I've noticed this as a pattern funnily enough. The character designs are being made more in line with the character backgrounds. Eva looks hotter and is more dressed up because that's literally her role/mission, Ocelot looks more like he is half russian and more like his older self is the same person, Boss looks more her age and job. They're making updates that make sense to the story and context and I am absolutely here for it.

Ummm no. This “remake” is legimately just a 1-1. Yes, updated graphics and modern controls. But they are copying and pasting. A remake is supposed to be a reimagining. Like Resident 2 and 4 RM.

So I’m very happy they stayed the hell away from that route. Know your limits. This looks great and probably the most faithful remake I’ve seen ever… unless they fuck it up. Will need to see the whole game to decide and I’ll be there day one to enjoy (and judge 😅 can’t help it, my favourite game ever).
Eva wears lipstick the entire og version. It's the yellow filter that causes you to not see it. But if I remember right you even see her lipstick on screen at one point.
During the scene where she's in the helicopter after Volgin and the Cobras abduct Sokolov. She pulls out a tube of lipstick and Vogin grabs her wrist, makes her drop it, and postulates that she might be trying to give him the "Kiss of Death" (a fictional spy-tool popularized by James Bond films. Basically poisoned lipstick femme fatales use to kill unsuspecting targets)
He then decides he likes her spunk for trying it.

I didn’t mind Ocelot’s new look, he’s always gonna be my favourite character in the series, but when I saw you compare his new model to his Old Man model, I feel like they did tweak his facial structure to look more in line with his old age model in later games. Looks alright to me!

As a lifelong Metal Gear fan, I was very disconcerted about this release, but the more I see of it, the more I see that it was not only a welcome addition to the Metal Gear pantheon, it was also necessary.
Anyone & everyone that is a lifelong Metal Gear fan should agree that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the GOAT Metal Gear game, and aside from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes being a remake of the PSOne original Metal Gear Solid - if you're going to remake a Metal Gear game - especially with photorealistic graphics - MGS3 would be the one to remake.
My only wish is that Hideo Kojima would come out either in support of this project, or at least to say something....anything about it, because it would make all of the weird merchandising, and pretty girls wearing clothing you can buy, and keychains and the like make more sense; because the whole Calorie Mate promotion at Tokyo Game Show this year is really creepy, almost bordering on disrespectful, because the Calorie Mate tie-in was a promotion that Kojima negotiated back in 2003/2004 for MGS3.
I just wish that Kojima would say *something* about this. I would feel better about being excited for it if he did💯
unfortunately, people who are hired to produce things, don't own the things they create when they are employees of the company. in this case, MGS is Konami's property, and Kojima negotiated as a Konami employee at that time. can't be helped, sadly

Love Kojima but he constantly messed with Ocelot in ways that didn't make sense. I never felt like MGSV's ocelot was even remotely similar to any other version of the character. And of course we had the wrong voice for Snake...

I think people saying the animation looks stiff are out of their minds. I think that some gamers are just used to seeing over the top Fortnite-like animation and think that it's somehow suitable for a game like Metal Gear. A lot of people don't realize how mind blowing these timeless cutscenes are. I really don't get the criticism. The animations are captured from human performances via mocap studio, so I don't really see how they look stiff. This isnt like MGS1 where the animations were created by hand. Just look at the shot of Snake going over the bridge for instance. Looks absolutely fantastic.
yeah a lot of gamers are use to modern movement where its all over done. there are lots of mocap videos of how they over act there movements for games. i feel like kojima never did that and you can see the subtle movements here well.
It's not the mocap that looks stiff per se, it's the facial animation contrasted with the mocap. Since the original game had fairly low-detail faces, all of Delta's lip syncing seems to have been redone using audio to phoneme software, then manually retouched to remove any obvious errors. This is fine for large open-world games where there's a lot of dialogue, like Cyberpunk 2077. The technology hasn't improved much since it first released, (which was before the original Snake Eater came out), and it can look mumbly, fake, and programmatic. From what I've seen so far, Delta has all three of those problems. The Human brain naturally pays more attention to faces, which results in people thinking the whole package looks bad.
@@dahmainahgaimah2913 Yeah I think they should get actors in that look similar to the characters and do the lip syncing mocap from scratch. I think the facial animations are otherwise fine, but the lip syncing itself is just clearly wrong. They can't make everything looks this good then have the talking like its an animal crossing game or something, its too incongruous.
If they had the facial animation quality standard that naughty dog produce for their games.. Wow, it would be perfect for me. Still very impressed, hopefully this is Konami reaching back out to start earning trust if the consumer again. It's a long way to go, but baby steps at a time.
The only character model I don't like is Ocelot, so far.

Okay this is really really great. What Metal Gear game REALLY needs this type of treatment is Metal Gear on the GameBoy Color. THAT'S the game we MetalGear Fans need!!!
As much as I wish that were to happen, I think there is a 0% chance unfortunately. Hopefully they at least polish it up a bit for a future master collection.

Boss looks great now, she looks older (as she should). Volgin too, in the original I thought his face was synthetic rather than skin. But Ocelot is literally the Scout from TF2 now.
Snake now looks so much scruffier, scruffier than even Punished Snake, I kinda miss the baby face but I don't know how much of it could be retained with realistic graphics. I still think a train crashed between his eyebrows and it has no right being like that, gamers are already too angry by default, and Snake I feel started pretty soft in personality, before he could experience all the major trickery of Kojima's stories, especially with The Boss, he acted almost like a child with her. It doesn't make sense for him to be the angriest man on the planet at this point in time. In Peace Walker after all the tragedy explicitly negatively affected him, okay, not now.
faces are notably more 'japanese', like I can't shake the final fantasy feeling watching some of the models. they are really well done, but it feels like they lost some of the characteristic looks...ocelot and eva are russians in origins, big boss and snake are american soldiers, even sokolov looks a tiny bit more asian....there's something about the structure of the noses, lips and eyebrows that is somewhat off to me. volgin seems to be the only one cause the evil smirk and eyeline puts him very far from the other face expressions.
kinda like how you see dante in some japanese fighting games or figurines and he looks a lot more 'japanese' than the game models...it's such a cherry pick thing, but it's a bit of a throw off honestly

I really hope we get the fp view of snake looking around. There is the obvious reasons game wise. However, I'm refering to when snake gets help from "The Sorrow". Would love to see the sorrow holding the frequency or the timer for the bomb :)

Since it's modern day Konami, I'm curbing my enthusiasm. I want to see the overall reviews when the game is out, before I make a decision. It seems like the way it is with modern gaming. I don't trust Konami.
I was going to say they needed better lighting on The Boss's eyes at 10:27, then I changed it to 1080p and it was fine. I swear, the absence of a few white pixels changes so much. I had to edit character portraits for a mod I'm working on when I first realized that, and ever since it's been ingrained in my mind.

imo if this is literally just a graphical remake it will be a let down. mgs 3 gameplay loop will simple and basic and maybe even boring by todays standards. i really hope they reinvent the meta mechanics in the game like healing injuries and eating and energy. Even me as the simple loser that I am... i can think of ways to improve or update the gameplay for this day and age. I hope they do a good job.
They've said numerous times they are improving the gameplay and importing a lot of features from MGSV. They are even updating the camo index (quick menu) and you can also play over the codec calls.

@@morquach64 That's actually what most people specifically want. We don't trust them enough to reinvent things without having a bloody good reason to. The only thing I've heard universal disappointment about so far is the lack of open world structure. Its still going to be little independent sandbox areas, whereas most were hoping for them to open it up like RE2 Remake did

And the industry has been like a circus on fire in the past few weeks, I'm still waiting on him reporting on something other than Concord, perhaps Astro Bot or the clusterfuck at Ubisoft and AC Shadows while Yotei is announced, but of course we get more MGS3. We already know the game is gonna do pretty well as a glorified remaster with a few gameplay improvements, but he still has to focus on that while so much happens. I love Yong, and I get that he has to have positive videos as well but holy shit some parts of the year he's just really repetitive and milks some stories to death while other interesting stuff in the industry don't even get any mention.

I’m 100% on board with this remake. It’s 1:1 and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, because I truly think MGS3 is one of the best games ever made, and modernizing it is going to add a lot of QOL changes that keeps you engaged. I think a lot of work went into the character models and making this game look so realistic. Also, if this were a cash grab, Konami would have used UE4 to try to make a profit on PS4/XBO versions.

Guess the main thing is that I want to know that Kojima, Hayter and everybody else whose work is being profiteered on for this are being paid for it. Until then, to me this just feels like a needless AI upscale that doesn't have any "creators' artistic intent" in it.

THE MODERNIZATION OF SNAKE EATER IS GONNA MAKE THE GAME ALOT EASIER IF THEY DONT ADD MORE ENEMIES....SOME OF THE MODS ARE WELCOMED HOWEVER QUICK SHORT CUTS AND FULL VISION IN FPS VIEW IS GNNA TAKE AWAY ALOT OF THE GAME PLAY....LIKE....GADGETS AND NON LETHAL weaponry
I’ve seen some demos and cinematics through leaked stuff here and there and whilst there appear to still be a *LOT* of bugs present in the game, overall it looks amazing. There also were a few shots where the new realistic style looked very off, such as Snake’s smile as he’s holding the binoculars during virtuous mission, but overall it definitely seems to work
The looks to good to be true. I say this because of Konami they can't be trusted. If Konami let's the devs do what they want with the game it will succeed. But if Konami interferes. That could spell bad news.
my only issue is the parachute scene, its suppose to be a HALO jump, but it was already a bit high opening in the original and now it seems like he is even opening higher in the air in the remake.

The Boss looks good, her face looks much better in this trailer than previous ones. Eva assets looking accurate to the original game explains why mainstream game journalists think things should have been changed more 'radically'.

I feel like Ocelot looks like how he does because his face looks easier to make as an older man for the later games for example the position of his nose changes dramatically in guns of the patriots imo
i dont initially like Ocelot and the Boss models but love Volgins. Vocal performances are usually the thing that are dealbreakers for me. I heard Zacks final speech in the new Crisis Core and never even checked out the rest it was that bland and emotionless compared to the original . MGS3 is in my top 5 games so the new models wont be a deal breaker and im sure all the new models will grow on me along with the gameplay improvements
