This how-to video may be about silver but, the accompanying music is Pure GOLD.
My mom left me all of her silver when she passed away and I cherish it with all my heart but it has been so difficult to keep it clean!!! This is without the easiest and most cost effective way I have come across to clean my silver. Than you so much. Now I can keep the silver my mom left me on display at ALL times and not JUST when I can find time to clean it!!!!
It is part of the chemistry to removing the tarnish. Basically, when the silver sulfide(tarnish) is immersed in the water solution with the baking soda it creates a reaction that transfers the tarnish from the silver pieces to the foil. In simple terms the aluminum foil basically consumes the tarnish. Thanks for asking and hope your doing great. Nikki

Great video, I would just suggest doing this outside for those of you who want to try it because the fumes can be a bit caustic and it smells like rotten eggs. But it is a great way to get the tarnish off of your sterling silver and even plated silver. I would also suggest wearing gloves. I love your sterling silver pieces! Just beautiful!

Girl I with you, I love my Silver have a Coffee Tea Set from England, platters and bowls anywhere they can be used. I found a few gorgeous footed tray at the Goodwill that just needed some cleaning that I keep on my dresser. I found this recipe on Pinterest it's a godsend....I even clean my sterling jewelry at the same time. You are a jewel.

Ok , here I go. Going to give it a try. Love that you said line the sink with foil. I was going to use a bucket, but that's a lot easier. Hope cleanup ie: removing the foil is easy. Stay tuned...

God BLESS You dear Lady. I’ve been helping my Parents out and dug up a, modest-size, oblong silver tray, with 4 small legs & other hard-to-reach-and-to-get-into crevices by hand. Now that That piece has been restored beautifully, I’m going to try to do the same to (actual) silver ware that’s been handed down to them. (With no “alterior motive” - or desire - to be bequeathed any, being # 6 of 7, BLESSED, Children. As do none of my Siblings - Thankfully - have such thoughts / thinking or ambitions).
WORKS Like a CHARM! The only thing is is that afternoons, the foil makes my sandwiches taste kinda funny.

Does the silver change color immediately after this process?? I am just suspect-able about this process ...and think that sending it to a professional can be better. Putting in consideration that I want to clean the silver plated items only. I already cleaned my silverware with Astonishe& it is shining now. Thank u in advance.
