Agnes Obel: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Вставка

- Bob Boilen | February 15, 2017 - Agnes Obel, a Danish singer and writer of deeply alluring music, brought her work into what you could call its opposite - an office in the daylight. While the setting is a bit contrary to her carefully plotted, vocally dense songs, she mapped out a strategy which included her own reverb and monitor mix in the (successful, I think) hope of giving the Tiny Desk an aesthetic more suitable to these focused and powerful songs.
And so, today we have Agnes Obel performing three songs from the enchanting Citizen of Glass alongside her band - keeping it sonically spare with just the right touch of keyboard and cello.
Citizens of Glass is available now:
iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/cit...
Amazon: www.amazon.com/Citizen-Glass-...
SET LIST
"It's Happening Again"
"Golden Green"
"Stone"
MUSICIANS

Agnes obel music makes me feel like I'm in the back of an ambulance seeing the last moments of my life in iridescent flashes, and by that I mean I love her music.
wohhh this is so spot on
I love your comment ❤️
I agree I would be quite happy to die to this she's amazingly talented and beautiful x
Poetic
Incredible
Agnes Obel's music is so beautiful it actually hurts
Ha, a minute before I came here to this video I wrote exactly that about my favorite song of her's ("Familiar").
Why does Agnes look like a Roman sculpture?? Her face is so defined and flawless....
Eve McEntire ethnic Danes tend to have very defined facial features, tall cheek bones, sharp jaw line etc.
For breaking through ice
can she be?
Made of stone, of stone
hes a reborn goddess of music
@@joerensh8463 thanks
Saw her play in a small church in my small canadian uni town...it was mindblowing and so is this small show
That must of been quite the experience. Very envious right now...:)
@@Baphometrose yeah im wig snatching too
Lucky
I LOVE Agnes, but all these women are very talented.
While I like many different kinds of music (from classical to rock to ambient and more), Agnes Obel's music is transformative and hypnotic. It's also refreshing that she is humble in her performances, letting the music speak without a lot of flash. Thank you, Agnes, for bringing beauty to the world.
With no reverb on voice channel it’s easier to realize what an amazing singer she is. My favorite artist ever.
OMG THIS WOMAN IS SUCH A GREAT ARTIST HOLY SHIT
Watch Dorian on the Berlin Live Sessions.
riiiiiiiiight!!!?
Of course Agnes Obel did a tiny desk performance.
Some of the coolest songwriter/musicians on Earth have scratched their names into that desk.
Agnes Obel and her crew create entire worlds of wonder and beauty that drives me to tears. Love your work, Agnes!

Woah! Agnes Obel at NPR! YES!
i dunno why i am appreciating Agnes and the band so much - it touches me where no-one's looking at.
So underrated, she deserves more, is beautiful.
Her music is just magic . Brings me to a place of joy and peace.
happy to finally see Phoebe made it in the music industry as a backing vocalist
I wish they'd allow her to show some of her classic moves on guitar though. She's created some amazing chords ;D
Smelly cat, smelly cat..
Rangga Suryagading i thought you meant the leading singer, but then I saw the other girl cx #SmellyCat
Don't forget about Zooey Deschanel...
Were you the guy that always walked by in the background at Central Perk? 'Cause that's what this feels like.
Always such nice comments on NPR's channel
music is trancendent, a universal lubricant and lets be real this is the BEST live music chanel on youtube #NPR #WEHeARTYOU ;-]
I'd love to see Portishead playing on tiny desk.
got chills just picturing that nyc show with the live orchestra.
The communication between them all on Stone is amazing.
I didn't realize I live along side actual Angels. They sound so beautiful together. This sound gives me hope in humanity. 💟
I have been waiting for so long... It's like a dream becoming true !! ==> Agnes Obel on NPR !!!!!
Ditto, I was hoping for the day they'd finally bring Agnes in
I've discovered so many amazing musicians from this channel. Thank you so much, NPR Music for helping to shape my musical tastes.
lets be real this is the BEST live music chanel on youtube #NPR #WEHeARTYOU ;-]
her voice is breathtakingly beautiful
They all have wonderful voices. 11:14 is magical.
Honestly glad to see Agnes getting such love in the comments , really thought I was the only one inlove with her music
I KNEW SHE WAS HERE! Tiny desk never disappoints !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Executed with precision, these ladies are of different calibre ❤
I had the great pleasure to see Agnes Obel last night at the start of her new Tour in Dortmund, Germany.
Had a great night
I love the mood of this. They have the "creepy" mood and that it's what I love.
Just signed up for tickets to see Agnes next September in Cambridge UK. Long time to wait but I've been waiting so much longer for a chance to share a space and an evening with this ethereally beautiful woman, So a year will pass quickly, time will stand still and I will be left with a lifetime of memories. Well worth it!
Where is she from? Incredible talent in her and her musicians!
Perfection. No matter the venue. So perfect.
Merveilleux groupe féminin, voix aériennes , douceur et élégance enchantent
I can't be the only one who noticed Agnes has a vampiric lover right? Maybe that's what makes her so amazing. ;)
Lol I just noticed 😂
Parental Guardian she looks like she was bit by a vampire haha.
Citizens of Glass is probably my favorite musical discovery of the past 6 months. Fun to see them do it live. Great stuff.
a dropped a like based purely on sonic innovation. the whistling twirling sound from the cello player at the end of the first song. the perfect mimicry of the sound of rattling bones. The raw vocal talent here in addition to that imaginative sound creation really impressed me
yeah i put down a like --> that cello
i love the deep melodies. this is powerful. I had this on autoplay and had to start it over. I was not prepared haha. stellar
Oh my goodness! Goosebumps all over! This is too beautiful.
Esse quarteto de vozes é a coisa mais linda que já ouvi , a sonoridade que elas fazem é singular e única. Agnes obel e banda , sincronidade pura.
Lying in my boat looking at the sky, the water rocks me and my mind fades. These girls are mermaids bewitching sailors with their songs.
I was expecting her to play Riverside (that song's perfect). Great concert so far tho
Citizen of Glass is my new favorite rainy day music
That jawline is a force.
BRAVOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! four witches making magic.
Mushpa Y Mensa lol
Didn't know Nick Cave and Enya had a daughter........cool stuff;)
s sw think she can be compared to her fellow scandinavians like Ane Brun, Anna von Hausswolff, Rebekka Karijord, Susanne Sundfør, etc.
@@RayasNegroOvejas Sounds like I've got some homework.
Her music will always feel like fall to me
What an amazing band! Their three-voice harmony gave me goose bumps
Her music can fill up the whole room. Love her. One of the more underrated artists I've seen a while.
Oh Agnes, you're so lovely

Finally, the right thumbnail
I love love love them!! It's happening again has been on loop for about a month in my head. So hauntingly beautiful. Thanks NPR

Thank you for having Agnes come and play, NPR! She's one of my favorite artists. I've got all her albums, and just adore her music.
I'm a bit late to the Agnes party but, OMG! Watch her iTunes live set. 45 minutes of bliss...
Thank you! I am as well! Recommend by other Witches!
I think I maybe able to watch on someone else’s iTunes? Where is she from? All so talented, flawless!
@@stephanieb6578 This video, even though an NPR production, is the one that's on iTunes. She may have more on iTunes but there's a lot here on UA-cam. She's Scandinavian, Norway maybe? I think she lives in Germany...if not, she's there a lot. It's been a while since I wrote that comment and had read all about her. She's apparently very popular in Europe. All I can say is, her music and her voice/singing style is unique to me and simply EPIC!
Wow. How do they do it ? Unearthly talent transported.
I love seeing these beautiful, talented musicians perform. Also, I'm captivated by Kristina Koropecki's face.
