- Haunting Figure (US) - S/T - 2024 EP
The third record of this act right after the four way split with Final Dose, Prayer Position and Otras.
The record leans heavily on the harsh side of black metal, characterised by a chaotic and often overwhelming soundscape. While this intensity creates a chaotic atmosphere, it also overshadows the attempt to incorporate punk elements. This struggle for genre cohesion is particularly evident in the middle tracks.
The album also shines on the opening and closing tracks, as well as track seven. Here, Haunting Figure expertly weaves in dark ambient passages. These sections create a chilling and oppressive soundscape, surgically pushing the listener towards an unsettling, yet undeniably powerful experience.
Only this longest record, so far, Haunting Figure displays once again glimpses of brilliance either in the dark ambient sections but also on the fierce black metal one suggesting a promising direction for this act.

This was great.
Really dug the dark ambient sections a lot!
Edit: oh snap, Rhode Island! We neighbors 🌝
Blackness occurs always closer than what you might think :)
There are many really really good releases this last weeks
Not that they reinvented the whole stuff , but certainly obviously fresh air bringer production with soul n vision
Thx to those artists n thx to MaoDaGloria for sure
GG
Agreed, I just wish that practically every Raw BM band didn't feel the need to inject Punk into the formula, they are not synonymous.
@@infernusrex796I understand the point
It must simply be the trend for the moment,it will move to something else after some time (I guess)
Not sure if it is a trend, it might be amplified due to the fact I like it so I might tend to like that mixture, in detriment to strictly orthodox black metal which I listened to infinite times.
Which isn't anything wrong but sometimes I need something different
