I love the casting of Alex Høgh Andersen as Ivar. He's doing brilliant so far and I can't wait to see his character develop. VERY exciting times ahead!
"Osteogenesis imperfecta is a dominant congenital skeletal disorder that causes extremely fragile bones, and is most frequently caused by defect in the gene that produces type 1 collagen, an important building block of bone. People with the condition are extremely susceptible to fractures and may have blue sclerae, a bluish tint in the whites of their eyes."
Unfortunately this is only one of a few credible theories as to why he was named Ivar the boneless . We do not have his skeleton to confirm this was in actual fact his condition . A part of me wishes this was a confirmed fact however as it would lead me to be even more fascinated by him outside of my enjoyment for the TV show
Lonely Elk "sigi is dead. just thought you should know. A. Oh. I thought..... she was being watched.... by.... well she wasn't. I. pff. who cares? A. * giggles * "
Yes, Ragnar Lothbrok was charismatic. But Ivar is equally charismatic if not more. People saying that after Ragnar they will quit the show makes no sense, I guarantee you, you will be as addicted to this characters as you re to Ragnar's.
I am so excited about this young actor. He showed such a wide range of acting in the 4B premiere. I want him to be a badass, but to really be interesting to me, he needs to be able to love and care about people too. Ragnar is a fierce, ruthless fighter, but he's capable of love and compassion, and it adds so much to him as a character. Thanks for the video; I'm totally obsessed with this show!
Ballen81587 he goes onto rule parts of north eastern england and ireland aswell and have 2 sons as the story goes as im from north eastern england that is gonna b interesting to see if they take it that far xx
Ubbe looks just like Ragnar, but strangely (dat casting, good lord!) Alex sounds JUST like Travis. Their voices are strikingly similar. Which imo is perfect, because character wise, I think Ivar is the closer in personality to Ragnar.
Even though I have a developmental disability rather than physical, I can still relate to Ivar and he has become unbelievably important to me. I feel that he would feel the same toward me and we would be great friends and more.
I was really skeptical about how Vikings was going to turn out after Ragnar died but ivars character completely proved me wrong, I had thought Bjorn was going to be the new Ragnar but I'm so glad it's ivar, I love Bjorn and everything but honestly he wouldn't have been enough for me, but Ivar is
I wonder why they never chose a real "crippled" actor to play the role, even one of the younger Ivars. Don't get me wrong its not the same as Jennifer Lawrence blacking up to play Martin Luther King . There must be a great actor with IRL experience to draw on for the role. Regardless I enjoy the actor who plays him . He is very good and has a really good camera pan-in into crazy eyes . I am looking forward to seeing how he is developed further
@@nolderine I agree, nobody can quite pull of a role that plays it in everyday life. I've noticed a lot of his movements say that he can walk in real life especially when he moves his hips to throw an axe.
Yeah hes way more famous then Bjorn in history. But in this show specificity Ivar just seems to have more actual character to him then Bjorn. Bjorn lets be honest here. His character is SUPER bland and frankly boring. It wasn't until his stupid walk threw the woods that he actually managed to get some type of unique character to him... But even that is not nearly enough. Here hoping Ivar can carry the show in the scenes with out Ragnar.
I'm gonna cry. Ragnar IS the 'Vikings', along with Lagertha! Speaking of Lagertha... WHEN AND HOW MUCH will she be involved this go around? I never see her in clips. 😭
omg. the young man that plays Ivar is such a GREAT actor. seriously, this young man, is brilliant in his role as "Ivar." Wow. And, I love the music theme that is played when Ivar comes onto the TV screen. But, can someone please explain to me how a crippled child can become a warrior. That does not make sense. I am wondering if the creators of the show thinks the viewing audience are morons. A crippled man cannot be a warrior. Otherwise, I am fascinated by the Vikings Series.
There were a few warrior kings that had physical handicaps, such as Geseric of the Vandals. More recently, we've had Franklin DeLano Roseveldt. Also, the historical Ivar Boneless may not have been crippled...some say the nickname came from the fact that he'd drink himself into such a state of inebriation that he was impotent and unable to walk!
This actor has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen in a human head and character of Ivar is compelling. When characters on the show commit atrocities, there are centuries between the acts and the audience. But what Ivar did in England back then, Isis is doing right now in Syria. I don't care how beautiful his eyes are, I'm not sure how vile he's going to be or if I will have the stomach for it.
Wombo Jumbo I know, but we all know that Ragnar dies this season, and historically, Hvitserk died before Ragnar died, they might change it up though because he is a useful character, and as far as I'm concerned, Hirst does have a habit of doing things out of historical order in order to make the show more interesting. We just have to wait and hope.
Wombo Jumbo Wait a minute, nevermind, I change what I said, you can look him up on wiki there's a really small passage about him. But I was wrong, he died after his father but there's not a lot known about him, so now I'm confused to why they don't have a character catch up
Smeagle Reegle I thought Sigurd was the special one not ivar I'm surprised aslaug took to Ivar instead of Sigurd, since she prophesied him to be magical or whatever I can't remember
Here is my prediction based on some trailers i have seen. In case im right dont read it, so it wont spoil it. But i may be wrong. Aslaug is currently the queen. But laugerta will attack her and take the crown from her driving her of. Ivar is seen sitting on the throne, implying he is now the ruler. Based on this, ivar will sneak into the chamber, and stab laugerta to death. That is my prediction. Ivar will kill laugerta.
But Ivar is going to be in Wessex when Ragnar dies. Lagertha's gonna do a Jarl Borg and attack while everyone's away. Ivar won't care because Ragnar's death will drive him to try and conquer England.
dannyboy2875 I don't know, his mother was the only love and hope he had all his life, after watching the current episode in which aslaug dies, unless lagertha and Ragnar gain a new relationship, I wouldn't mind if Ivar killed her aslaug is so misunderstood I really liked her
aubrey Aubrey (Mild Spoilers) I almost agree. But Ivar's too clever, his mother was a symbol of power, something which helped him to feel like more than a cripple, I'm not sure it was (entirely) maternal affection. He'll know it's more important to avenge Ragnar and forge his own saga as a great viking than worry about Lagertha. What's important to keep in mind is that Ivar has Ragnar's genius, but he's also a psychopath. He doesn't care about anyone but himself, he's a cripple in a world where you earn reputation my being a great warrior. The only way he can be famous is to be a cold and brutal leader, hence he blood eagles Aelle, and becomes king in Ireland, rather than taking back Kattegat, which has been won and lost by like, 5 different leaders at this point. That's my take on it, anyway.
so Ivar got killed in Ireland. Not surprising, the Irish were vicious, they used to chop up their own kings and offer them to the God's. And in the 7th or 8th century I doubt their was much wealth there yet from Christian monasteries. The Irish have a little more balls than your average English man. This is why Britain will not let them have an army. I am Irish and English but my family came to America way back around 1600. I have never been there. It's a beautiful island for sure. I would love to go.
Ivar was terribly miscast, this guy is horrible and gives no impression that he is strong or intimidating in any way. My 8 year old nephew wouldn't even be afraid of this guy, its laughable and sad.
Ivar so badass!
Zurik 23M love your videos bro!!!
Zurik 23M Do a Bjorn Ironside video!!! that would be so epic
You hire
I really thought that the show would go downhill without Ragnar as the main focus. I have now changed my mind. Thanks to " Ivar, the boneless. "
I love the casting of Alex Høgh Andersen as Ivar. He's doing brilliant so far and I can't wait to see his character develop. VERY exciting times ahead!
00Mindi00 true that, he's a perfect choice to play Ivar ^^
Alex seems to be the perfect cast to make Ivar awesome and charismatic :D
Theis Vinding true that
Definitly the most intresting character after Ragnar..i hate the fact Ragnar wont live much longer, but Ivar will centairly fill up his absence.
His eyes though!
And all along I believed they had that put in to show who's Ragnar's true heir. He sports a similar trait occasionally in season one.
Unfortunately this is only one of a few credible theories as to why he was named Ivar the boneless . We do not have his skeleton to confirm this was in actual fact his condition . A part of me wishes this was a confirmed fact however as it would lead me to be even more fascinated by him outside of my enjoyment for the TV show
His eyes are pretty even without the digital alteration to turn their sclelera blue...naturally, they're the same gray-green as those of my son.
Auslag encouraged Ivars ruthlessness from a young age

omg this showw is my life... cant wait to see ivar becoming a king
Didn't he visit Ireland?
Yes, Ragnar Lothbrok was charismatic.
But Ivar is equally charismatic if not more. People saying that after Ragnar they will quit the show makes no sense, I guarantee you, you will be as addicted to this characters as you re to Ragnar's.
Talha Imam definitely, Ivar's a conflicted character it'll be interesting to watch him development
develope
Talha Imam I hope your right, but before he goes the fans want him and lagertha back together at least one last time
aubrey Aubrey i dont think ragnars returning from england now.. sadly
Sorry to burst ur bubble. but when Ragnar was in his home country .. he was saying ''Goodbye'' to everyone he
Forgive me if I say this but... those "blue eyes" of Ivar are gorgeous!
Just love watching every scene Ivar is in, whether he's good or bad.
Alex: *breathes
Me: YES DADDY!

This actor is amazing! His eyes!!!
ivar is will be amazing
Since travis fimmel is leaving at the end of this season we need a new main character and ivar is that character
News has it Travis is part of season 5 as well, but I agree Ivar has stood out as the most interesting character.....great acting
Ballen81587 he goes onto rule parts of north eastern england and ireland aswell and have 2 sons as the story goes as im from north eastern england that is gonna b interesting to see if they take it that far xx
Alex is astounding
Ubbe looks just like Ragnar, but strangely (dat casting, good lord!) Alex sounds JUST like Travis. Their voices are strikingly similar. Which imo is perfect, because character wise, I think Ivar is the closer in personality to Ragnar.
Great character and actor.
Ivar is the best hands down
Even though I have a developmental disability rather than physical, I can still relate to Ivar and he has become unbelievably important to me. I feel that he would feel the same toward me and we would be great friends and more.

The Actor that plays Ivar must have had a very hard role...being cripple the whole time xD

Ivar is my favourite out of Ragnar's sons ^^
THE GREATEST CHARACTER after Ragnar is DEFINITELY IVAR!!!!
love him!
Mery Penguin
That’s my favorite scene where Ragnar says “Hello Ivar. There’s no mistaking you.”
From what I can see so far, Ivar > Bjorn.
Wesley Malutama he is greater. According to the sagas he was the true heir of ragnar

What, his character is bland because he's not a petty psychopath raised by some negligent mother?
I'm gonna cry. Ragnar IS the 'Vikings', along with Lagertha!

In Ragnar's voice: what has become of Athestan's son? i can't wait 😌😌😌 people concentrate too much on Ivar that they forgot Athestan had a son 😍😍
Cant wait for season 5!
Ivar 😙😍😍😍😉
Bjorn is still the best...
I CAN'T WAIT😰😰😰😰😰
is there a character catch up for Hvitserk?
What about Hvitserk?
I was just about to say that lmfao
I think Hvitserk dies so they probably didn't see it as necessary to do a character catch-up
+gtfomaddie noo please, he is my favourite one!

wheres sigurd's snake in the eye?
his eye actually got a snake in it. You will see later.
He had it as a child, he doesn't seem to have it now anymore (or they don't show it).
Peter Kuypers he got it.

Baddest Viking ever THE BONELESS
Is it pronounced I-var or E-var?
why do they say segurd is youngest if he was born ep 3 of season 2 and Ivar ep 8
where can i find these episodes because the last one I watched was the last ship season 4 episode 10
That was the last one. Next episode will come out on nov the 30th.
Character Hvitserk?
I want to see more richly melanated black-skinned women like the *Ivory Bangle Lady of York* on this show.
Cadê?? Começa logo!!!
Ivar trembles in the coffin if see how are the Scandinavian today

whats that chilling sound effect ??
Ivar's eyes blue or green??
Blue
Their natural colour is greenish-grey, but they enhance the colour for the show.
what does Ivar say to Ragnar at 1:26?
"I would try to wound/move my stupid legs towards so I can go out and find you. Until you know how much I, needed you, how much I, hated you."
GanFloorscope thank you!
"and tell you how much I needed you*", makes more sense like that
ragnar please dont dead

I'm hoping Ragnar's sons will get a bit more...idk.. handsome. Like you come from RAGNAR. First season he basically looked like an Odinson himself
I take it back. He's actually the most appealing out of all of Ragnar's sons. Hot shirtless too. Ubbe is annoying to me for some reason.
The Cult of Undesirables
