I'm fairly new to Vikings, the show that launched Alex's career and I must say, I'm massively impressed by the production and the cast. His Portrayal as the ruthless Ivar the Boneless (Or Ivar the God, if you're nasty) is just so intense, visceral and amazing, it really is like being thrown into the middle of a crazy and brutal viking world over 1200 years ago. The show is amazing and the acting is phenomenal.
Excellent documentary currently on Irish TV about the Viking invasion, the sequencing of our G-nomes and of course Mr Boneless & his brothers exploits here. Fascinating if you want an education of that particular time in Norway, Ireland, Scotland & england. Its on RTÉ (our national broadcasting channel).
I only just found it and I'm just as stunned as you. Why did it get so few awards and why hasn't Alex been drowning in roles? Marco is a class act too. How hard is the acting game that a man who looks like that, moves like that, with a voice like that and talent simply to burn....I can't stop watching, I'm just re-watching to marvel at him....how hard must that profession be that such an actor isn't acclaimed to the skies? Steven Spielberg should be coming to HIM in trepidation and anxiety: "will Alex deign to take this stellar role? Please? How can I persuade you?" No, seriously!

I speak English, Irish, and Spanish, and a bit of German. I could understand some of what they were saying, though, just because of cognates and similarities in sentence structure. Plus now there are English subtitles for what I didn't get. I don't think there is any one language that is best, but I do agree that we should all learn to speak more than just our native tongue. Languages are beautiful and crucial to our understanding of the world we live in.
