    You did two things that were game changing for me on this one.
    First was the warehouse in Miami and making it the southern hub. That made it grow much faster than my way.
    The second was to do the newspapers much earlier. I did tools for my second business in Miami.. I should of knocked down meat and done Newspapers rather than wait for 90K to start them.
    Overall great scenario.

      I borrowed a few things but still only got to 689k. Not sure what I could do any different. Kept all of Florida at 95+% using point to point run full platform to platform no sharing. I want to see these 800k+ runs. I don't know how it could be much quicker. Or at least to time to get the bonus on each, to know which to do faster

    I do think the warehouses work just fine. You should keep the amount of cities sharing raw resources to a small number, 2 or 3. then only have shared warehouses on a dedicated raw station in each of those cities. Then as advanced goods need to reach out to other cities, have them come to a dedicated station to deliver and receive goods. not touching the raw goods. Especially as massive growth is required.
    Skol!

      I think the behaviour of the warehouses is changed since the last update and it's prioritising goods in cities other than where the warehouse is based. I ended up with the same corn shortage in Miami with over 50 in the warehouse. I think this is a bug.

    Yeah, I THOUGHT you blew up the beer in Tampa, and was wondering where it was going to come from--if you had enough left. Then one time you looked at Miami and it had the bare minimum, THEN there was Beer back in Tampa? Guess it was something you put back in on one of the edits.
    Also, your fruit station had some trains jammed right when you looked at it, but you went off and added ANOTHER train! It was a SINGLE line in that poor station--you HAVE learned to expand the stations more, but just missed that one.
    Oh, that would seem to be an easy Toledo to Grand Rapids race to set-up: Flying Scotsman vs the true freight on parallel tracks! At 8 cars, but also a test with 7 cars and a refrigerator car to see if that tips the scale. And check the route time it is estimating after it runs there and back to see if they change, since it's very misleading if the freight ties or comes out ahead vs what you were showing us! ;-p
    But also remember, that's the raw speed, and you were going to gain that few % on reliability and less maintenance with the Scotsman--which we know takes a long time, so a little bit might help a lot over the lifetime. i.e. if it was that close in Johnny's tests, then I might still use the Scotsman unless the freight came closer to raw speed. (I'll go back and read the comments on the other vids to see what he stated and then might edit all this! ;-p)
    EDIT: OK, Johnny did it all except the refrigerator car, and ran it long enough to try and factor in the maint and breakdowns, so it IS just that estimated time which seems to use just the loco only. But use FRT for fully loaded both ways, and then depending on your run-empty back to rurals, MAYBE a speed demon with decent tractive power may win out.

      The beer came and went from Tampa, depending upon the situation. Some of the changes are on the cutting room floor.

    Great videos as always - nice to see my name there as well (I'm Proffy on Steam and most gaming sites and have been for over 30 years) although way way behind you. I still like to prove to myself I can actually do the scenario before watching yours playthrough but I always learn new ideas and techniques and this made me wan to go back and do this one - but I have to finish Scenario 4 first - I keep starting over.

      @@Adekyn100 Yes I would never be able to do as well without your videos and ideas I just finished Scenario 4 last night but I missed one of the optional tasks (it was close though). Even so my score was what I considered decent but it was no where near what you showed up as - it will be interesting to see your approach with it.

    One thing I have noticed about when you separate you mail and passenger trains....you think you're getting the express bonus on the mail but you're not....if the lightning bolt is black....it has THE POTENTIAL to be xprs...but it's not...so if you check the train later and it's still black....it's not xprs

    • @Adekyn100
      @Adekyn100  Рік тому +1

      I'm not worried about the express bonus in that type of setup as much as getting post office on each end and restaurant plus market for the passengers. It does raise the question - do you ever get express status if you don't haul passengers?

  • @mja65
    @mja65 Рік тому +2

    Well done. This is an interesting scenario, and perhaps not for the right reasons! The first time around I don't think I noticed Key West so I ended up being very late connecting it. I replayed this one while watching the videos and it seems you are penalised for growth. My cities were larger than yours but it meant cities were competing for limited goods, in particular clothing and fashion (due to a lack of cotton as there is only one resource on the map which I had bought and maxxed out) and fruit (impacting liquor). You did much better focussing on the task at hand by growing what you needed to complete the tasks. I also had the same issue you did with the warehouses. In my case this was exacerbated because I had a lot more warehouses so I ended up with a lot of shortages! The warehouse issue for me where it seems to be incorrectly prioritising goods is a bit of a game killer at the moment. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

  • @MasterWerner-n3r
    @MasterWerner-n3r Рік тому

    Warehouse Management is for sure too complicated. The game seems to assign a product to a city which is connected to a warehouse and that saturates then the demand there even if it will never be shipped (e.g. because of other products in the same warehouse with higher productivity). I got into an issue where some wood in the starting area was assigned to cities on the frontier and they would not take the wood from the lumberjacks right next to them (to fulfill tool production for a task).
    Tip:
    I suggest to always fulfill each task as quickly as possible. Do not delay main tasks just to fulfill optional tasks. Instead if you still have open optional tasks once you fulfill all main tasks just continue playing, fulfill the optional tasks and recalculate your score, which will still be updated to a higher score.

    • @Adekyn100
      @Adekyn100  Рік тому

      I go into the whole do the optional tasks later thing in part four of scenario 4.

    The warehouse bug kills this stuff. I've had cities with 36 on the way, from clear across the map rather than the resources right next to it. Then you cant keep enough trains to even keep 1 resource in the city.

    • @Adekyn100
      @Adekyn100  Рік тому

      I really don't think there is a bug; however, a design flaw? Maybe.

    • @stevegooch1776
      @stevegooch1776 Рік тому

      Yeah it may be a design flaw. I do know that it was way worse in the beginning. You have to watch connecting warehouses to the system. They need a trigger to force the closest goods to a city, rather than trying to bring them across the map through 6 warehouses. I've had cities with 60+ on the way, from literally across the map and through like 5 transfers and the trains take one at a time. I'm fully committed to each city getting it's very own raw goods train and platform set to run full and no way to block any other train. Lots more track, but I hate the trains getting hung up on each other

  • @VampyreVigo
    @VampyreVigo Рік тому

    Oh...and another mundane but useful tip..the MINIMUM length for a 4 track switch...is 8 km/miles..just so you dont have to worry if you made it long enough the first time
    ALSO...when you check you loans....if you got the cash to pay back a loan you took out 6 months ago....PAY IT BACK...in your part 4 episode you had 3 loans that were small...that you had going for A WHILE.....now that your company had grown MASSIVELY...you should pay those off and yake out one HUGE loan...ESPECIALLY if it's at a lower interest rate.....at the DEC 29TH MARK of this map...you had 3 loans that were costing you interest....I had paid back those during the speed up time and took out just 1 loan at a lower interest rate and had like 1.8 mil more money...then by Feb 19 I could take another 3mil loan

    @ 24:10 WRT the corn issue. You also have corn at Bishop Terminal. When I have two products of the same type shared in warehouses I make sure to turn it off on the city to city train that goes to that go between those two warehouses so items don't get stuck. Also, look at the train in Bishop Terminal.. You set those to run full.. There might be 7 corn waiting for Miami on a train there.
    If you turn off corn in both stations on any Tallahassee to Miami trains, it should clear up the issue.
    Oh wait.. @24:36.. It says 0 on the way and 0 in the city. So that is definitely a bug.
    AH.. Well.. It is absolutely true that the connected city is now last WRT warehouse deliveries. So you did not have enough corn capacity at rhe farm near Miami to meet demand out of the warehouse in Miami.. So Miami did not get any as it was going to the other cities connected to that warehouse. That is what I have seen too. Have to pay particular attention to total demand of the warehouse to get items into the connecting city.

  • @JohnnyHughes1
    @JohnnyHughes1 Рік тому

    OK.. The grain to Miami was definitely a bug. You had 72 in the rural farm waiting and 2 trains going down.. Should have been enough.
    I might have checked the trains to Miami.. Maybe added a 3rd one to see. I have not had this issue. These are usually a me problem. I usually don't have enough supply capacity (need more items from the business or more trains to the warehouse). It did look like you had both though.

    • @1sourjoe
      @1sourjoe Рік тому

      My guess is there is Corn sitting in another warehouse earmarked for Miami. I had the same problem, if you have more than one line to a city that has a warehouse for the same good, the game doesn't look at shortest route.

    • @JohnnyHughes1
      @JohnnyHughes1 Рік тому

      @@1sourjoe i thought that as well.. But in this case 'on the way' was zero. If items were marked for Miami and in another place they would have been in that column.
      But.. Since the host city is now last at getting things, if you do not have enough coming into the warehouse, the host city will get zero. This can be either not enough in the business OR not enough trains delivering.

    • @stevegooch1776
      @stevegooch1776 Рік тому

      It's like a list, city 1 fills up, city 2 fills up, city 3 fills up. If you never fill up city 3, city 1 will never get any goods, if you understand what I'm saying. I've resorted to platform to platform single run full trains getting their very own shunt lines by using passthrough if possible or just long runs to the station from the main trunk to keep them from blocking each other. It worked pretty good on this one.

    As I've completed 13/14 of scenarios and the campaign, all as a Chief Executive I have come to the following conclusion. By the way I'm a meathead player who struggled greatly on RE to achieve top scores only with the help of Adekyn's play throughs and tips. RE2 is lacking vastly in uniqueness especially compared to RE. There is no build the automobile challenge for Toledo. No Make the goofy candies and such for your Gone with the Wind southern belle. I know it was in DLC but no English Cider, French Perfume, German Sourcrout, or weird Swedish Cheese. Nope its all the same vanilla game. Just rinse and repeat. I fear for the next 10 scenarios as there is little variability in the game aside from location. It's like a successful band coming to town an screaming, "Hello, Cleveland!", to the crowd but playing the same old play list as they did in all the other cities.
    My only white whale is 14/14. I hope you don't burn out before you get there. It truly is the most unique challenge in the game. Sure you got to do the same as every other scenario but it kicks it up in magnitude. Perhaps 3X8 platform stations might be required in a city on and island to grow to 500K as an optional task.
    Keep up the good work. I do enjoy your content. Thanks

      I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I've noticed a familiarity from one scenario to the next. They all have little twists, but there is definitely some sameness too. One of the biggest challenges for me is to come up with different techniques to use each time to make the videos interesting, communicate new ideas, and keep from getting bored myself. Hopefully, I can come up with enough to overcome the sameness of the scenarios.
