- After the dastardly terrorist attacks in Mumbai, one of India’s favourite sons gave the country something to cheer about in the Test match that followed a fortnight later.
Bringing to you the opening episode of my new video series - India’s Top 25!
'It was Chennai and Tendulkar for Mumbai and India' - Goosebumps 😌
Surely
❤

Only Harsha Bhogle can tell Cricket stories in such manner.... Just poetry to the ears.... I initially wondered why this match is on number 25, but as Harsha unraveled the story, I had goosebumps 😊... Pure joy in listening to Harsha Bhogle's stories 👏🏻🤩👍🏻
Very true Rajas!!
Telling stories the way only he can, the passion and joy is just infectious
'It was Chennai and tendulkar for Mumbai and India' ...shivering Harsha ❤
One of the best scenes of the match was at the end a tamilian grounds lady came to give a handshake to the master and they shook hands... That's wat it means to the nation. Even the simplest of the people cherished the moment and the man being at the highest of hierarchy too came down to celebrate the win ❤. Occasions were Sachin being an emotion for the country...🙂
Harsha is such a master storyteller! Pure bliss listening to him.
Kevin Pietersen - forever my favourite for he had brought England to play in India after the attack 🙏🙏
So wonderfully narrated. Really brought back memories of those dark days and the test win in its entirety 👏
Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar
No, Vijay Hazare and Virat Kohli.
@@chandrareddy4392 Vijay Hazare didn't play in 1978. The question asked about 2 players who made this record - one in 1978 and one in 2014. So it's Sunil Gavaskar who also made this dubious record in 1978 against Pakistan.
Yes Vijay Hazare also has this record but that's in 1948 and not 1978
Harsha bhogle had only asked to mention the names of the two players who scored hundreds in both the innings but India did not manage to win. Vijay Hazare did not play in 1978, but he had this record when @@shivramgogula7591
हे काय बरोबर नाही
what an absolute pleasure to hear you Mr.Bhogle...........gave me Goosebumps more than once watching this 7 mins video....!!!
I was there , in the 5th ODI ind vs eng in Barabati stadium Cuttack on 26th November , when the Mumbai attack happened and next 2 matches were cancelled . Can still feel the spine - chilling experience from that night
The way Harsha said: City's favourite son did just that and gave the people something to celebrate...... Tears in my eyes❤❤❤
Sunil and virat, the absolute legends the answer to the question
goosebumps @2:30 when he mentioned 'the pictures from Mumbai were chilling, foreigners had been targeted and England'. And way too many thereafter. Harsha's storytelling skills are REMARKABLE. So much to learn from in this video.
I still remember that game. We were hopping that India will not be able to chase it down and it will be a draw. But the chase was just awesome. That finishing short from Sachin and Yuvi carring him in his arms still comes with pure visuals..❤
I've your fan since my childhood ( 1994). I EVEN WATCHED SA vs Ind in replay. Your commentary is like piece of cake for Sir Sachin . That's how you explained to my cousin and me. I always luv your commentry
How do you narrate these stories so passionately every single time. It's like poetry in motion.
Especially for chennai. He is in love with chennai. Be it CSK Or Chepauk. He has such a love for the city
Harsha knew Sachin more than Sachin himself ❤

Wow! This seems to be a series I did not know I needed! Great work Harsha sir!
Wow, this is one of the reasons why I've subscribed to this channel. Amazing storytelling 👌
Harsha bhai, this was pure bliss. Thank you
Thank you Harsha for picking this match, it was really an emotional moment when sachin dedicated his century to jawans and mumbai
Loved the video sir, and as always, love the way you tell stories. Thank you for initiating this series!
Btw, Mr.Gavaskar and Mr.Kohli were the ones who scored centuries in each innings but still ended up on the losing side.
Wow that's great presentation
Thank you ❤️
That iconic lap sweep shot to bring up the hundred and the victory will forever stay in the memory - chasing down 386 in the 4th innings, incredible.
Amazing video keep it up Harsha Sir.
great video harsa sir , you are really one of those guys who make our beautiful game even more so by your narration
It was the first time I followed the complete test match and what a cinema it was India was behind by 75 runs at the end of first innings and India chased the target with complete team effort. It was a homage to the martyrs of the 26/11.
Harsha.. nice emotional touch to a cricketing story.. not many can do this with ease and finesse. You are a natural at these moments... The answer is easy.. Sunil Gavaskar vs Pakistan ( listened to radio commentary and very unhappy with the way Bedi bowled) + Kohli at Adelaide.
Wow ❤ brought me to tears
Thank you, Harsha, for doing this.
Such an amazing video sir, really like the concept of the series.
Here is what i think is the answer to your question:
1978- Mr. Sunny Gavaskar in Karachi
2014- Mr. Virat Kohli in Adelaide
HB at his very best as always....Eagerly awaiting for the next episode
Didn't know until today that u had utube channel Harsha bro......😅
Subscribed ❤
Watched the entire 5 days at the vintage chepauk stadium amongst the noisy Barmy Army. With Harmison, Anderson, Flintoff, Swann.. This match was magical in all ways.
Very good Harsha jee... I really love your analogy.
Wow, loved it sir ❤️
The "dark souls" is what I call defining worst people using softest words possible. Shows how pure "Harsha bhogle"'s soul is. Long live man
Sehwag is by far the best Indian Opener! Fearless and always took one for his team.
India's heritage is great and it gives us a lot of pride but India's present state is daunting for a young man trying to earn his living. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and heartbreaks to become a man worthy of respect in India these days. In midst of all this Cricket and Cinema are the only two escapes that helps us Indians escape the reality of the country and experience sheer joy without any hesitation.
Thank Harsha for bringing up this wonderful episode and eager to watch the other 24 as well
The answer to question is Sunil Gavaskar vs pakistan and Virat Kohli vs Australia.. century in both innings and end up in losing side
I still remember Andrew flintoff was continuously sledging with Yuvraj Singh when came to bat. It was one of Sachin's great innings. During post match presentation ceremony he said this victory was truly dedicated to those who lost their life in 26/11 attacks which took place in Mumbai. Sehwag had given a good start and then Sachin & Yuvraj played an incredible innings of their life.
Just the right person to present.✅
My Top 2 defining moments of Indian cricket..,The 1983 world cup victory and 175 by paaji and the famous 2001 Kolkata test led by Dada and scripted by bajji laxman and jammy.....un forgettable moments
A special event described in great words in a way only this man can 🫡
Hi Harsha sir - I think below may be part of your top 25

This was really an emotional one
Really u r a legend as a cricketing commentary
Oh god..... This man is genius in story telling.
There was 2 test matches that i missed watching at Chepauk , Ind chasing Pak and losing by a whisker in 1999 and this test match where Tendulkar and Yuvraj chased the scores. I can take the heartbeat of the 2nd but not the first one. I watched and cried when Ind lost hey I was studying 12th std at that time.
I can listen to this man narrating cricket all day long
Learnt from the history of Sunil Gavaskar and the great heroic passionate style of mindset almost got us the win by Virat Kohli 🫡
The answers are Sunil Gavaskar vs Pakistan and Virat Kohli vs Australia ! Captivating storytelling Harsha Garu !
I don't know why, but i could feel my eyes welling up while listening to this
Chennai was Sachin Tendulkar's happy hunting ground. He scored the most number of test runs in Chennai, amongst all his home test runs (7216).
Thanks, if you could add so videos, that would be great
Harsha Bhogle narrating this test ❤️ absolutely brilliant
Sunil Gavaskar against Pakistan in 1978-79 and Virat Kohli against Australia in 2014 at Adelaide, are the two greats to score century in both the innings and ended up in a losing cause!
What great speaking and articulation!
What a nostalgic narration Harsha bhai
Sunil Gavaskar in 1978
Virat Kohli in 2014 Adelaide
'It was Chennai and Tendulkar for Mumbai and India'
Virat kohli against Australia Adelaide. Virats first match as captain . A stellar 4th innings knock but we just crumbled after 240 odd for 2 with Vijay’s 99 I think .
In1978 , it was Sunil gavaskar against Pakistan in Karachi.
Centuries by Indian batters in both innings in losing cause - Sunil Gavaskar against Pakistan in 1978 in Karachi test and Virat Kohli against Australia at Adelaide in 2014.
I was in hostel.. I enjoyed it In Radio...❤
That background photo should have Rohit Sharma as he was the captain for T20 World Cup 2024.
Really liked the concept of this series. However I would like more discussion about what happened in the game
This will be a fun series to watch. In tests, I assume Adelaide 03, Kolkata 01, Chennai 01, Perth 08, Melbourne 20, and Brisbane 21 will be on the list. Perhaps win at Durban in 10 as well. ODI’s 83 and 11 finals, 07 and 24 T20I WC finals. MCG 22 T20I, maybe 03 WC Ind vs Pak. Then there are OG test victories in England and WI. Sharjah win in 98. Lots of options.
Virat Kohli- 2014 BGT
Sunil Gavaskar -1978 (Against WI and Pakistan)
Sunil Gavaskar vs. West Indies at Kolkata in 1978.
Virat Kohli vs. Australia in the Adelaide Test, 2014.
Few probables in 25 on top of my mind:
1. 1998 sharjah cup - semi final and final, Sachin's desert storm with 2 back to back centuries. and India winning the Sharjah Cup
2. Natwest Series final 2002 - india defeating england at Lords.
3. 1983 world cup final
4. India vs Australia Kolkata test in 2001, VVS laxman and Rahul dravids partnership with which India won the test.
thanks for bringing up this series... to help us relive those beautiful cricketing moments through your narration all over again.
Great video
Sehwag that day was unstoppable that really set tone for India .
In 1978 Sunil Gavaskar did two occasion Against the West Indies at Kolkata (Drawn) & against the Pakistan at Karachi (we lost this match).
In 2014 Virat Kohli did it against Australia at Adelaide (we lost this match). Fun fact even David warner also scored century in both the inning in the same match.
4:24 What a line 🙌🏻
Great regards to England as well, that they decided to play on.
Harsha Bhogale's voice means pure joy for the ears of Cricket fans 🙇🏻♂️
Historical win at gabba
Personally, for me, the Gabba win in 2021 sits above everything else.
The Gabba's win was epic
2001 cant be topped
2004 ind win vs pak for first time in history
@@PankajTiwari-vlogs2004 ind win vs pak for first time in history
All the epic matches mentioned in this thread deserve their own separate video!
It was Sunil Gavaskar (111 & 137) in 1978 vs Pakistan and Virat Kohli (115 & 141) in 2014 vs Australia.
Fun Fact: Another Indian batting great did this in 1948, that was Vijay Hazare (116 & 145) vs Australia
Kudos to Kevin Peterson for landing in Mumbai that year
I am gonna watch highlights of this match n rest of 24
Vyrat Koli & Sunny G. A combination no one can forget 😂
I have seen your hindi and English video....आता मराठीत करा, खुप छान विश्लेषण करता सर तूम्ही....❤
For me, this test victory could easily be way higher in the list than #25.
Even if we think of it without the backdrop of Mumbai attacks, the fact that we actually chased 387 in 4th innings is mind boggling in itself.
And Sehwag should probably get much more credit for it. If not for his innings, the team would've just tried to play for a draw.
I was lucky to witness the fantastic test.. Sehwag, Yuvi & Sachin. Barmy Army were silenced 🔕.

WOW superb i wasn't aware - what a miss by Bhogale to state only 2 indian batters when in reality there are 3

Sunil Gavaskar in 1978 and Virat Kohli in 2014
Cannot forget the batting of Virender Sehwag in this match.
oh Harsha, wonder money how long keep you going
To answer your question as to what other matches need to be in this 25
The top has to be VVC Laxman's 281 at Eden Garden for the way it changed Indian cricket forever. It's to me the Ramayana of Indian Cricket
In 1978, It was Sunny Gavaskar scoring 107 and 182 against West Indies. But the match ended in a draw. In 2014, Virat Kohli scored 115 and 141 against Aussies. Unfortunately we lost the match.
2000 Kolkata test vs Aus, sharjah sand strom,1983,2007,2011,2024, CB series 2008, Vk's Hobart , CT2013, WC2003 pakistan match
