- Just wanted to make some kind of post and today I happened to finally get a special event egg from Pokemon Box and wanted to hatch it on my channel!

I feel so stupid rn, I completely forgot that genders were a thing and for the past hour ive been trying to breed two females 😭

If you're going to turn that Pichu into a ribbon master you could wait with evolving it until you make it to Alola and then turn it into an Alolan Raichu, would be cool to have an Alolan Raichu from Hoenn and all those old exclusive ribbons on it.
Yea that's true, if I decide not to keep it a Pichu for cuteness (which would make the combat based ribbons a nightmare) then I probably would make it an Alolan Raichu

lol no it's been rough without it, basically have to rely on other pokes and in gen 4+ use focus sash to do anything

That’s true, I’ll have to get rid of it until it transfers all the way up to the modern era and can reteach it surf haha
i dont think guardevoir is that good. id recommend slaking with choice band and hyper beam, really good for the battle tower. other good choices would be starmie and latios. guardevoir is too slow for my taste.
yea base 80 speed isn't amazing even accounting for inflation, but I already have Metagross as a physical attacker and Swampert is mostly physical as well so Slaking is probably too much. I thought about Latios since I happened to get a Bold one and could pull off a bulky calm mind set, and starmie is nice as well, but I've come this far breeding like 200 ralts so I think I'll see how it fairs in the frontier haha
@@secondhandgameplay the battle frontier is not easy at all, using suboptimal pokemon like guardevoir can lead to a lot of frustration, but you have to try it first and see for yourself. (swampert also isnt that amazing as its also slow, the biggest threats in the battle frontier are double teaming blisseys and sheer cold fissure max defense rest talk walreins, you need as much upfront power as possible to deal with bs like that. swampert is too slow, too weak and cant set up and thus cant deal with degenerate strategies at all, but you have to see for yourself to understand what i mean xD having too many physical attackers is not an issue, blissey is the biggest problem, if you have too many special attackers then it becomes tough, you always need to have 1 physical attacker in the back incase they have blissey, its very annoying. the best way to deal with blissey is usually to just explode with metagross on it before it gets its first double team off, or attack with meteor mash until you hit and pray that a follow up aerial ace kills. beating snorlax will pretty much always require a metagross explode, so if your unlucky and one trainer has snorlax plus blissey, your done unless you have slaking in the back.

I'll try and remember to look them over next time I record for Gen 3, I believe the others are the Swablu with False Swipe, Zigzagoon with Extremespeed, and Skitty with Payday
Could you get egg moves you wanted for houndoom like counter if doing it solo with GBA SP?
As long as you have the pokemon who gives the egg move then you can do it. For your example Houndour gets counter from the Slakoth line. So you just need a male Slakoth/Vigoroth/Slaking with Counter to breed with a female Houndour/Houndoom and the baby will have it. Houndour can be caught in Emerald in the Safari Zone so for this example you can have a Houndour with counter playing Emerald alone

To breed houndour you'll need to have a female houndoor and a male in the same egg group, or a ditto with any houndour, but dittos make breeding difficult. To breed for nature in Emerald you need to have either the mother or a parent ditto hold an everstone, and this gives a 50% chance of passing down their nature. So if you want a houndour bred that is Modest, the mother or parental ditto must be Modest and holding an everstone to make it 50% chance of passing it down. Then to add egg moves, the father in the pairing must have the egg move learned. Ditto cannot pass egg moves so you will need a mother with the correct nature holding everstone and the father knowing the egg move and being in the same egg group. Their children will have 50% chance of being Modest and will have the egg move learned
Is egg breeding possible in gen 3 games?
Other than that, what is the best gen 3 game in your opinion? I feel like Fire Red is much better than Emerald in my opinion...I kind of grew up with prof Oak and Ash so it kind of makes it more special for me.
What do you think about this? In general a lot of people say soulsilver is the best in gen 4 but i feel like gba gen3 is kind of the best...What do you say about this?
competitive breeding is possible in gen 3 but very difficult, I consider any pokemon with 3 perfect IVs to be about as good as it gets. My favorite is probably Emerald just because of the amount of postgame included, but FireRed/LeafGreen have a good postgame in the Sevii islands as well
Man and I thought I was running out of room on my emerald copy, I think I have 1 box total free. Most of it is taken up by my living Hoenn Dex
I came here because I'm trying to do a gen3 link battle with my wife (I've gotten all gold symbols years ago) and I've found out that (if you want a Hoenn dex pokemon) the fastest way [7hrs per] to getting a perfect IV pokemon is to do the R/S battle tower glitch where you catch a roaming perfect IV [swampert, Milotic, gyarados etc] off of an enemy at 50+ wins. But the kicker is I want kanto pokemon too. So I am using a perfect IV male Walrien as the father and a female Eevee to try to get good eeveelutions. So this video didn't lend much insight for breeding tips but I do wish you luck in the Battle facilities!

So this event Pichu egg was obtained from the gamecube game Pokemon Box Ruby & Sapphire, which acts as a storage box for gen 3 Pokemon. Once you fill it with 999 Pokemon from a single cartridge it gives you the event egg. There are other milestones that give eggs as well, just booting up the game with a fresh save file gives an event egg for Swablu I believe. The issue is that Pokemon Box is an exceedingly rare game unfortunately so it's hard for a lot of people to get these eggs. Luckily some of the exclusive moves that they had are now easier to get in modern generations, like how Raichu can learn surf pretty naturally in Gen 9 and Zigzagoon can get Extremespeed more easily too
you should make more Gen 3 videos about breeding and comp. Im trying to get into comp and breed but I go through hundreds of one Pokémon with no luck feel like Im missing something
I have been incredibly busy lately buying a house and working and going to weddings, but as soon as my new home is set up I will make more videos and I'm sure I'll come back to Pokemon soon enough, thanks for commenting!

Yea I guess this is just for people who don’t want to do RNG manip or learn how it works or do it “as the designers intended” or whatever, but if you know how to manip you can get powerful stuff too
@@secondhandgameplay I learned how to rng in 2009, I made a shiny perfect iv larvitar, but I didnt like it. So I breed my pokemons the old way. But since 2022 I have been learning rng again and is fun to have perfect iv pokemons. Its still hard, so I feel attached to my pokemons, is not like a pkhex generated pokemon, that makes me feel nothing, even if they are perfect. Also, the competitive scene fights in showdown, so its kinda useless to breed in general in older gens, unless you want to transfer them, but I dont, since I dont like pokemon games from 6th gen onward, so its more for fun than other thing
yea as long as you're having fun that's all that matters, I too like breeding them the old fashioned way for fun and then using them in battle towers and other challenges, but since it's such an open ended game series you can enjoy the mechanics in a lot of ways
@@secondhandgameplay Cool. Today I reached 427 straight wins in Sapphires battle tower. My previous record was 441, lost against a Rhydon with OHKO moves and quick claw. Im going to travel to Japan, to study there for a year, in two months, so Im gonna try to get a japanese Emerald. I dont even have an english copy of the game, I really want to do the battle frontier
A Japanese copy sounds super cool, the battle frontier in emerald is a huge step up in variety from the Ruby/sapphire tower not to mention better teams and better AI, once I finish doing my ribbon master I’m gonna hit the battle frontier again
