Everyone talking about how the companions are judging you for formerly being an evil bastard and I’m just here thinking that my Durge and Gortash were def fucking nasty before the incident tm
Oof same. I headcanon that my DUrge and Gortash were definitely a thing, not in love or anything like that, but they most definitely got bored while plotting world domination.
To be fair to the companions, but the entire plot of the game was set in motion by Gortash and the Dark Urge. By comparison, Orin's role in the overall part is miniscule as she took over the Durge's role after he had begun sowing fear into the city. What gets me, however, is that with all the characters at Moonrise and Baldur's Gate who seem to recognize you, why doesn't Ketheric?
I feel like if you've been resisting the Urges and have high approval with your companions this shouldn't happen. Like they know you at that point and know you're trying. Some of them aren't squeaky clean either.
Oh there’s no “one off.” Dark Urge is THE mastermind behind this heinous plot lol. He’s the one that brought the idea to Gortash, who complied and then they recruited Ketheric. In an ironic twist, Orin’s treachery actually slowed progress of The Dark Urge’s plan, and ultimately led to him undoing his own plan as an amnesiac and saving BG. Don’t fuck with the true mastermind lol.
@@kibuki91 I agree with the second paragraph but if my memory serves me right there' a note you can mind in the mind flayer colony that shows Gortash was the one to approach Durge. Not that it makes durge any less culpable in the plan.
@@sgtpaintbrush It could be, there's conflicting accounts in the writer of Durge's narrative and the game. In his narrative it claims Durge came up with the idea basically to spread chaos and murder a-plenty, killed Tav and faked his own death prior to Orin's betrayal and getting tadpoled (which, would have happened 3 separate times: Orin planting the original one, the Bone Lady implanting a 2nd, and the Mind Flayer on the nautiloid implanting a 3rd. and, somehow even with all 3 the Durge remains too strong). Him killing Tav in that narrative may seem to conflict with the game though. Although, he's possible that Tav was the last person he killed before aside from the Dragonborn he used to fake his death, and so he assumed that name in his amnesiac state and also only remembers his epithet as The Dark Urge. Idk, it's fairly complicated, lol. In my head-canon Tav is the Durge, as it provides a much more interesting and in-depth story experience than being an original Custom. The companion reactions especially when they find out you're behind it all is hilarious.
I really like Jaheira's voice actor in this, really showed emotions that she's scared between breaths, her doubts but firm voice when she tells you still believing you
I very vaguely remember that she had a very different reaction when you romance her before patch #3 or even #2. Now she has no reaction at all for some reason.
@@dismasxenakis yeah, she has a reaction when I told her I was a bhaalspawn, but she still has no response. It's not a big deal because you can use your imagination, but it is weird.
Karlach: I want to say it doens't make sense - but it makes perfect sense, doesn't it? I should've seen it earlier. All the signs were there. Literally Dark Urge in Act 1: I can't control my hunger of blood and I want to kill everything. Karlach: Don't worry, surely it's nothing
See this is why I love Minthara so much. She remains calm and doesn’t judge you for it, she recognizes you know more than anyone on how to destroy the Absolute. There is no breach of trust, she is certain you’ll destroy the Absolute.
Actually wouldn’t it make sense for her to be the most f***** up about it since she is the one who ended up totally brainwashed by the beliefs of the absolute? Even more if you have a romance with her
So many people complain about how harsh the companions are in this scene, even if you've followed the "redemption" variant of the Dark Urge questline. But their reaction makes perfect sense when you stop looking at Baldur's Gate 3 as purely an interactive game with mouthy game pieces and look at it from a narrative perspective. They've been following you for weeks and every sign you've come across points to the idea that you're a good person afflicted with a divine curse that makes you act against your nature. They know you're Bhallspawn, but they've seen you fight the primal impulse that drives you to murder and witnessed how hard it is to win. You have blood on your hands, but it's not your fault; you're just someone struggling with an addiction you didn't choose to cultivate, and they want to help you beat it. They trust you. Then Gortash reveals the truth, and their perception of you is flipped. You aren't a person struggling with a murderous strain of mental illness anymore; you are the leader of a cult who probably dragged child sacrifices onto the altar kicking and screaming, the architect of a plot to slaughter and enslave the inhabitants of the Sword's Coast, and the one responsible for not just their misery, but EVERY conflict that the Absolute caused. Every death and tragedy they've witnessed over the last few days is the direct result of your actions, and you didn't feel even a hint of remorse when you set the piece in motion. You aren't a victim, and you never were; you're a victimizer who had an unlucky run-in with a slighted subordinate. Can you blame them for having such an adverse reaction?
I think to a degree as a resist!durge you're really /both/ of those things, and the reactions are interesting because they're having to come to terms with the latter, even if they know you feel like the former (you don't really remember being the evil cult leader, after all). It's a really interesting sort of "redemption" narrative. You were not a good person before. Maybe a very heavily brainwashed one (this is actually implied in some dialogue with Fel in another part of the game) but that doesn't mean you weren't still evil. But things HAVE changed, one way or another, and it doesn't feel like that's an act. So yeah, I also feel these reactions are appropriate. They *should* be upset! It's your fault a lot of them are in this mess! (it is a shame that they don't talk much about it after the fact, though-hoping for more dialogue about it in the DE in the future, lol) They also have actively seen the way you are working to be better. What does that count for? If everyone accepted you with utmost grace, it would feel like a poorer narrative to me, haha. That being said, I do think Jaheira's reaction to this (and a lot of the other DU stuff) has got to be my favorite. I like the comment of 'you can't ever really make things right, but if you're going to keep trying, i'll stand by you' - fitting for someone who knows well already how Bhaalspawn are. It's lovely.
@@zygmutt something that would of been awesome if you had to fight your past self in bhaal's temple or in your mind like it just a reflection of durge when they were a chosen of bhaal and have all your gear, abilities and it's a one on one slugfest
@@lairoftheobsidianwolf5784 i feel like to be fair that kind of is what the fight with orin is :b she very much... is what durge would have been if they'd never been kicked out
I mean that’s also not entirely true Scalaritas Fel confirms that you were originally on your own until you were taken in by the cult of bhaal. Yes you always had the dark urge. Yes you initiated the absolute plot, but let’s not forget that there was years of braiwashing that undoubtedly went into that too. Durge resist demonstrates that if you wipe his slate clean Durge isn’t a villainous person. A different version of him one that was grown carefully and molded by the temple of bhaal initiated the absolute plot. But they aren’t talking to that version of durge. They are talking to the version that spares isobel and saves a bunch of tieflings and harpers. The durge that wakes up his love interest because he knows he’s seconds away from killing them. The durge that saved a grove, a circle of fungus, and some gnomes because it was the right thing to do. If you actually indulged your urges intentionally even once I’d get the outrage. But if you’re doing a proper durge resist run then they should be able to see that this has blindsided you as much as them and that you have been just as pissed off about the plans of the absolute as they have. They shouldn’t treat you like you switched sides just because it’s revealed that a you that you can’t even remember was a malicious bastard. It’s like the judgement puzzle to ansurs challenge. The man committed crimes, but he’s done many a service too, his punishment from his peers should reflect that. Actually more accurately it’s the philosophical question of “ if a man was a mass murderer, but has amnesia and dies. Is it just to damn him to hell?” On one hand actual Justice would say yes this man is the killer after all. But yet to punish him would be to punish a man who knows not what sins he commited.
I just love how Minthara is always one step ahead on everybody to process and analyse the situation. Everybody is like : "My god ! You knew everything and you didn't tell us ! I know you were amnesic... but damn ! You are a Baahl spawn !" Minthara : "Now we know the truth about you and your initial scheme, we have the best opportunity to outplan it !" She is by far, the best companion you can imagine in this situation.
The issue I had with this isnt that the companions I were the closest to (Karlach and Gale plus a fully romanced Astarion) were scathing here. The problem for me was there was no follow through. I always thought there needed to be a BIG scene following this. Maybe several. A heated argument scene back at camp with your companions that is already in mid flow when you rock up. And could you imagine how dramatic and narratively satisfying it would be as a good, resisting Durge who'd gone all out to build great relationships with everyone and be a friend to the world in general to have the option to just leave camp that night to have a straight up mental breakdown alone in the woods. Maybe later an attempt being made to track them down by whoever had the best relationship with Durge. How a fully romanced spawn Astarion would be so pissed at Gale and Karlach after they had unloaded as shown here, whilst trying to get Durge to pull themselves together? Later them maybe, if they had super high approval being all like 'Oh gods, they've spent the last month fighting together, working on our machine and hugging/helping to stop us from blowing ourselves to kingdom come, they REALLY don't remember any of that shit, we just verbally tore them a gaping new hole and turned our backs and now they are out there somewhere, alone, vulnerable and possibly curled in a ball crying their eyes out.'
I fully agree. I'm finishing my first durge playthrough and the reaction I had was karlach's. It broke my heart but I also thought it was a great reaction. I thought, I can't wait to see whatever cutscene will unfold at camp! But no, nothing happens, nothing even changes. She's still happy to see me and calls me soldier. I didn't even give her space and she didn't mind. It felt so weird.
@@jade.legaulttrudeau yeah, sometimes in the game you have to imagine certain reactions, which isn't a big deal, but it's regrettable it wasn't automatically in the game.
Can I please write a fic based off this? I’ll give credit to your youtube username if you want. I post on ao3 under forest_roses. I absolutely adore this idea!
Plus, she was literally trying to become a dark justiciar before, so she wouldnt be that innocent either. Granted, its not as bad as beeing dark urge but jesus.
when I first saw that my reaction was as follows "are you kidding me, you were practically giddy to see people suffering under the shadow curse and you think you have a right to judge?"
Oh, fun! I did think everyone was letting me off much too lightly. In my playthrough, only Karlach had anything to say about this at all, everyone else was just vibing.
Damn harsh reactions, understandable but harsh. Especially to a Durge trying to be good. I don't mind that it's harsh, I just hate that they drop it and never have a conversation about it at camp etc. One moment its "Wtf you were behind this" then back to high approval dialogue. A recurring issue with Act 3 tbh, not enough reactions/discussion from the group and party members. I mean when Durge fights Orin and says no to Bhaal it's quite lackluster.
i think this durge must have killed Isobel or something, my durge never got these dialogues. either that or i moved on and it caused them to be missed.
odd I didn't fight Orin's lackluster... Must have been the relative tiredness of 2-3 reloads over an hour and strategizing hard... That usually leaves a good aftertaste... Would have liked to see her beg or suffer a bit more, that maniac is way too self sufficient :p
@@MFenix206 My Durge definitely didn't kill Isobel or give into any of their Urges (of course, except the plot-forced one) and still got these sets of dialogues, so it's not that. Not gonna lie, it took me out of my immersion a little bit when they all said these forceful things and Durge couldn't say anything back; then they acted like nothing happened afterwards and we were all good friends again. Gale's really stung, because he was the romanced companion this time around.
Thanks for uploading the reactions. It felt wrong that Karlach was the only one of my party to react to my character's role in the plot. I don't know if my max approval with everyone (save the druid newcomers, but they're catching up) or my honesty after the bhaalspawn vision negated any reactions from other party members, but it was so surreal to have my character shocked and horrified by the truth of her past only to have no one to talk to about it.
YEP! I think telling the truth dulls their reactions cause that's what I did and when I met Gortash none of them reacted like how they did in the video.
@@flying-magpieit's a bug. The reactions in this scene are all buggy and don't play out like they should a lot of times. Logically it doesn't matter how high your approval is, your companions should still at the very least be shocked Durge is the mastermind behind the very same thing they've been fighting the whole game
My game is mega bugged. I thought it was really freaking weird that none of my companions commented about this entire conversation. I am so confused what causes that kind of bug.
Wyll, surprisingly, reacted very adequately 😳 Well, I can understand why Karlach was so angry, but Shadowheart?.. She who worshiped Shar, she who wanted to become a Dark Justiciar and until the very end was not sure whether she did the right thing by rejecting her goddess, is now pretending to be innocent saint? Especially after all the good things that were done in the 1st and 2nd acts? Really? It is a pity, there is no option in the game to remind her of who she was before she met us and who she wanted to be (and who she would have been if not us). She pissed me off more than others do... And it’s a pity we can’t have Gortash as a companion. He seems to be the only one genuinely happy to see Durge 🙄
Sooo good thing the only person I brought there with me was Astarion (romanced, but I'm not sure if that matters). Keeping secrets does have its benefits it seems
Some people seem to think that companions are bugged to speak only low approval dialog during this scene, but not sure if thats true or hopeful thinking
Looking through the dialogue parses I never found any dialogues related to this scene for higher approval ratings-I suspect these are just their reactions. I think it makes enough sense for them to be upset, personally. You may be trying harder now, but you were *still* hugely responsible for the predicament a lot of them are in. They just need a minute.
@@zygmuttI agree. It would feel inorganic if they immediately took this revelation in stride, especially if they’ve built a strong relationship with you built on trust and honesty.
I think they probably were. I’m playing now presumably on the latest version and these lines just don’t trigger on max approval. They just don’t acknowledge it at all, which might be a different bug entirely. Though some of the replies just really don’t make sense if you have max approval and romance. Especially shadowheart’s, so I suppose no reply is better than this. There was a Reddit comment which claimed that they’ve seen a much gentler and sympathetic response from her on high approval and romance but it got bugged and they couldn’t trigger it again.
@@Vasilefs_Terranorum I got most of these responses in this game on maximum approval or nearly maximum approval with everyone, Karlach and Shadowheart in particular I know were on maximum approval because they're in my main team almost always. I think they're just somewhat bugged in general and it's not related to approval.
The only thing I find unusual is that there's no following up to it. Like Karlach says to give her lots of time, but then it's just never brought up again. The next time I talked to her she asked me out on a date lol.
idk about everyone else, but i'm so glad the companions get mad at you about this, even to the point of hypocrisy (shadowheart, dear, you ALSO are an amnesiac previously in an evil cult that tortures and kills people. that was literally all of act 2), it makes them feel like real people! idk man i also would be initially angry if one of my friends turned out to have been the Worst Guy In The World even if they were choosing not to do that anymore. also adds to gortash as a villain as well-i do lean towards his sentiment towards the dark urge being genuine here, but that doesn't mean he's not also using it to manipulate you. his word choices seem crafted specifically to drive the companions away from the dark urge, and the durge, as a consequence, towards him (see "my favorite bhaalspawn" when with karlach, but "favorite assassin" when she's not-the former being more alarming). he may not have to bother with keeping up appearances now that he has all of the patiars under his thumb one way or another, but it's clear how he got here EDIT: great they've softened shadowheart's reaction now. god forbid she have a flaw ig 😭😭 her og reaction here was so much more interesting.......
Shadowheart's reaction confused and annoyed me at first but I agree with it being more realistic. I think it makes sense because she is so similar. She likely has all sorts of feelings about herself and now there's someone similar to her and she can project those feelings onto them. It's like being forced to look into a mirror that you've been lowkey avoiding because regardless of if she is changing or not in a playthrough she hasn't at this point admitted out loud to herself that she's not a good person with a good past.
realistic? that would make sense but you see EVERY balurs gate 3 character has been caught with hypocrisy like actually everyone lol. So it's shadowhearts reaction makes me just-_- being glad everyone has a hypocritical reaction is interesting to think about.. because that message is sunk in many times in game.
Least Astarion's happy with the revelation, since it means that you technically were the reason that he was able to escape Cazador's influence in the first place.
This is easily one of my favorite scenes in the entire game. When things really start coming together and you realize that not only are you a psychopath killer, you’re responsible for EVERYTHING you’ve fought against so far. And your Durge is slowly picking up the pieces until this moment. To me it’s so much more impactful as a resistant Durge. Just having to live with the idea that you’ve done all this. Also I could listen to Jason Isaacs for hours so that certainly helps make it one of my favorites lol.
I feel like Shadowheart's reaction is a tad bit unreasonable here. Scratch that, her reaction was entirely unreasonable. How was Durge supposed to "bring up that they were once a leader of that cult" if they barely know that fact themselves. She even acknowledges your amnesia immediately afterwards like...what?
To be absolutely fair, they are aware it is not your fault. Its difficult to grip that your leader was one of the masterminds of the whole reason everything bad happened, every terrible thing the Absolute did, was on the hands on the Durge before the nautuloid. They forgive you, but need time to process it mentally, because imagine GORTASH being friends with your leader once, the man that took away your life.
That’s because they both have a high wisdom stat. Wisdom would tell them that the Dark Urge is a different person now, especially since the only way you can keep both Halsin and Jaheira this far into the game is by being a decent human being.
I talked to Gale (who I was romancing) right after the coronation. Gale first scolded me and told me to give him time. I talked to him again literally one second later and he was back to normal romantic banter xD. 'Give me time' seems to be code for 'until our very next conversation' xD
I wish this happens, our Durge becomes depressed and ridden with guilt, sits alone. Until one of the companions like Jaheria or Withers come to talk to Durge and convince to our mistake we have caused.
Strange, Astarion had a different reaction for me where he was upset by the news but also acknowledged that he wouldn't have escaped cazador if it hadn't been for my durge
Huh, in my playthrough, those talks didn't happen. I wonder why. Anyhow, I just want to go back to Gortash and side fully with him. Him and I should rule. I love Gortash. I want a romance option for him.
It's 100% a bug. Other people have encountered it as well. I had to make sure to rest in Rivington to trigger the Bhaalspawn reveal scene and tell all of my companions about it before I encountered Gortash. I managed to get all the reactions after the coronation, but even then, it was still bugged for me, seeing as Wyll and Astarion gave me the same exact lines from after the Bhaalspawn reveal.
Weird, I didn't have such reactions with everyone like this. But I also kept my Urge a secret as long as I could, really didn't party up with Jaheira much, was romancing Karlach (she even sided with me at the temple) and I turned down Gortash's offer.
My game is bugged lol I didn't even get the same dialogue. It seems my dialogue is half Tav and half Durge lol he talked to me like I was Tav but only acknowledged that I was durge when i chose the Durge options. My companions also had nothing to say about Durge.
Idk if my game was bugged but even when Karlach found out I was behind the entire plan her dialogue was the last one in this vid. Only Jaheira had a reaction, no one else did. Tho I did also go on about how I was a changed person and that I wouldn't trust him anymore when I spoke to Gortash? Hmm..
So, it's out of order in the video, but I actually had to talk to her twice in a row to get the first dialogue. The second one is her usual [!] dialogue and the first one is her greet for this version of the scene specifically (where gortash reveals your past). It does feel weird that they play in that order, but that's the way I got them.
@@zygmutt I see... Still though I didn't get her being mad afterwards 😔 Tho now I wonder if approval has anything to do with it bc Jaheira was the only one without exceptional approval for me lol
seems like these don't trigger correctly if you've told the party you're a Bhaalspawn before this, which is a shame because honestly i think the fact that you're responsible for the Absolute is frankly the more important issue here. Wyll and Astarion's dialogue is the same here as it is if you tell them you're a Bhaalspawn after having a dream about it.
laezel, astarion, and wyll have reactions to this reveal, but it seems you didn’t talk to them about the bhaalspawn reveal before the reveal with gortash. laezels mad at you like a lot of others, wylls mainly worried about his father, and astarion thanks you as it was you, not the mindflayers, who was ultimately the reason why he was saved from cazador
Don’t know if it’s mentioned, but Astarion does have dialogue about the revelation that’s not shown here. You need to make sure everyone has been talked to regarding your Bhaalspawn reveal to get it. Oddly though, shadowheart didn’t give any dialogue concerning it.
This is so odd to me. I didn't have these reactions from my companions. It might be because I had 'Exceptional' relationships at that stage or I told them about it as soon as I had the vision before meeting Gortash. Also was in a romance with Astarion at that stage too
I romanced Shadowheart with my dark urge and didn't get any reaction from her. Thought was a bug but that wasn't problem with karlach lol Heavy reactions from all companions
I was bothered by everyone in my camp saying she cut her hair when she barely changed it, so I got a mod that changes her hair to a shorter style after her hair change, lol. I think it's cute
I had a different reaction from Astarion that was him thanking me for freeing him from Cazador. Did you tell him you were bhaalspawn before initiating the Gortash cutscene?
Weird. I only got Laezel and Astarion lines to trigger in my party. I dont remeber if shadowheart said anything but even then i might have forgotten since she takes it pretty well
Everyone’s reaction makes sense to me except Shadowheart. Her response comes off as hypocritical considering she worships Shar and was willing to kill Aylin and screw everyone over just so she could be a dark justiciar. Plus I'm sure she has done screwed-up stuff in the name of Shar. Then again…orchestrating a plot to turn everyone into squid monsters is a whole other league of evil.
Wait a second. Was this before or after you found out on your own that you're a Bhaalspawn? Gortash never used that term in this cutscene in any of my playthroughs, only 'favorite assassin'.
I didn't get these conversations after Gortash's coronation they just straight up didn't say anything. Idk why but maybe it's because I told them all already that I was a Bhaalspawn after fainting right before entering Wyrm's Rock. That or the fact that I had max approval with everyone so maybe they're just less harsh.
It's definitely a bug. It seems like a lot of people in the comment section have had the same thing happen to them as well😖. I can attest to getting the Bhaalspawn reveal cutscene and telling all my companions about it. I had exceptional approval with everyone, and I did end up getting these reactions. Note that I did get the same dialogue from Wyll and Astarion as when my Durge told them the Bhaalspawn revelation. So I just think this scene is just super bugged out right now.
I might be misremembering but I think Shadowheart has a different reaction if you have her go dark justiciar. On my evil durge run I don't remember her being that offended after finding out.
None of my companions said anything? I checked in with them right after the coronation too. Huh. I think Jaheira might of said something. I haven't finished my playthrough yet, so now I'm not sure if any of my companions at all besides Jaheira know I'm a Bhaalspawn, lmao. EDIT: Yea it's gotta be bugged. I was romancing Astarion and never got the option to even talk to him about defeating Orin and rejecting Bhaal. I did get the option to break up with him over "I'm worried I'm going to kill you one of these days", but that was only after showing up to the murder tribunal and dealing with Sarevok. I'm on another playthrough now. Just entering Act 2. Hopefully the Dark Urge stuff triggers properly for me once Act 3 starts. Maybe not resting before you cross the bridge to Gortash's coronation in Rivington bugs it.
Mine didn’t either, judging by the comments it seems to be a bug, which isn’t surprising. Act 3 has been full of bugs for me, some pretty bad, like stuff like this, other dialogue related bugs, and companions getting stuck in things
This happened to me too. I found out that (at least in my case) it was because I didn't long rest enough before meeting gortash for the first time. I had a vision while going to him. This made it so that I couldn't talk to anyone about it, except for Jaheira. When you long rest enough, the vision that you're a bhaalspawn happens when you sleep and in the morning you can tell everyone about it. I had a nice long convo with romanced astarion about it. Before no one acknowledge it.
I don't think I got any of this, I confronted Gortash as Durge but didn't get any of this dialogue at all. Not sure if it bugged out for me or if I confronted him at a wrong time. Oh well, time for a new playthrough :D
Gortash didn't tell me ANY of this wtf ToT thanks for making this vid but wtf why in my durge game he didn't say anything ?? it felt different to tav but none of these revelations
another example of minthara being the most intelligent and level headed companion which makes it all the more irritating she's blatantly unfinished like halsin
I don’t think our companions’ reactions are ridiculous at all, after all they just found out you’re the reason for this entire shitshow. But I do wish there was a follow up conversation like the one after you have to get tied up so as not to kill your romanced companion. If’s a bit jarring when they’re all like “I can’t believe you get out of my face” then when you talk to them in camp it’s like absolutely nothing happened.
no, but i think these reactions only show up if you a) didn't tell karlach to be patient when confronting gortash, and b) didn't tell your companions that you're bhaalspawn ahead of time.
@@zygmutt I honestly think these reactions are super bugged, because a lot of people aren't getting them. My Durge didn't kill Isobel and told everyone they were a Bhaalspawn beforehand, and I still got these reactions. I also had my own bugs with the reactions where Astarion didn't give any dialogue about it, and Wyll just gave me the same lines he did when Durge told him she was Bhaalspawn.
@lee-fc5bu I did some research beforehand about important Durge scenes, and you have to make sure to long rest while in Rivington and before you get to Wyrm's Crossing, or the game bugs out, and you don't get these conversations at all like you did
Does this still happen if you reveal you were a Bhaalspawn beforehand ?? I was playing with a homie and these reactions didint play out, albeit its possible my friend initiated dialogue and not me
I don't think they do, I avoided telling them I was bhaalspawn specifically to guarantee they do their reactions so I could make this video, but I also didn't test it. I suspect your friend initiating the conversation might also double stop the reactions too, though. Does Gortash still out you as Bhaalspawn and everything if you don't initiate the conversation?
When I arrived at gortash's place all of my companions knew about me being a bahlspaan but shadowheart was pretty mad, karlach just asked me if I was planning on going through with the alliance with gortash, but she was mad when gortash told everyone that my character was one of his "nearest and dearest" and astarion just didn't care lul
It's my game and I think the short hair is cute lol The other companions make a bunch of comments about her cutting her hair despite having the same hairstyle just in a different color, so I made it so she does actually cut it.
it seems as though who has special dialogue reacting to you having worked with gortash depends on something - because gale, astarion, halsin, karlach, and jaheira all had something to say for me. But the others just had the same dialogue from learning i was bhaalspawn.

Maybe but there’s a difference between having a murderous urge and being one of, if not the main, mastermind of a plot that took the world by storm
The companion reactions especially when they find out you're behind it all is hilarious.
itd be weird if they werent even a bit perturbed by it lol
I really like Jaheira's voice actor in this, really showed emotions that she's scared between breaths, her doubts but firm voice when she tells you still believing you
Shadowhearts makes no fucking sense lmao "How dare you not tell us!? You're lucky I know you don't even remember anything >:("
She has a similar reaction to a player Astarion who bites someone in battle and she realizes he's a vampire.
Even more if you have a romance with her
Jokes on her I’ll clam everything in the name of my daddy 😂
I can't blame them for being upset, I would too
@@zygmutt something that would of been awesome if you had to fight your past self in bhaal's temple or in your mind like it just a reflection of durge when they were a chosen of bhaal and have all your gear, abilities and it's a one on one slugfest
I know you were amnesic... but damn ! You are a Baahl spawn !"
Minthara : "Now we know the truth about you and your initial scheme, we have the best opportunity to outplan it !"
She is by far, the best companion you can imagine in this situation.
All I can say is, Minthara truly is ride or die

Shadowheart is kind of weird that she both yells at you for not telling them, while acknowledging you don't remember anything at the same time.
@@ShyressShe says the same as a Dark Justiciar.
Even if you are romancing her?
I mean even if you don’t remember doing it, it was still you that did it.
Fellow cowboy hat Astarion appreciator
Hopefully a definitive edition or patches can fix this
So... he's laying out the entire evil plan in front of all of the lords of Baldur's Gate here. And they still go on to acclaim him the ArchDuke? WTH?
They're all Tadpoled so he control them and it's the reason all of them Acclaim him as Archduke in the first place.
Apparently, Gortash and Dark Urge had a well laid out plan and it only ultimately fails because of Orin.
Tbf, if you return again in this place, after this, they're all murdered by the Banites
Your Tav is gorgeous! And I adore Astarion's outfit. Gale and his belly shirt make me laugh, though. XD
I am so confused what causes that kind of bug.
the same thing happened to me :/ i was like ??? no one has anything to say about this??
Wyll, surprisingly, reacted very adequately 😳
Well, I can understand why Karlach was so angry, but Shadowheart?..
The next time I talked to her she asked me out on a date lol.
idk about everyone else, but i'm so glad the companions get mad at you about this, even to the point of hypocrisy (shadowheart, dear, you ALSO are an amnesiac previously in an evil cult that tortures and kills people. that was literally all of act 2), it makes them feel like real people! idk man i also would be initially angry if one of my friends turned out to have been the Worst Guy In The World even if they were choosing not to do that anymore.
also adds to gortash as a villain as well-i do lean towards his sentiment towards the dark urge being genuine here, but that doesn't mean he's not also using it to manipulate you. his word choices seem crafted specifically to drive the companions away from the dark urge, and the durge, as a consequence, towards him (see "my favorite bhaalspawn" when with karlach, but "favorite assassin" when she's not-the former being more alarming). he may not have to bother with keeping up appearances now that he has all of the patiars under his thumb one way or another, but it's clear how he got here
EDIT: great they've softened shadowheart's reaction now. god forbid she have a flaw ig 😭😭 her og reaction here was so much more interesting.......
Wyll was surprisingly chill about it, since it was your plan that got his father mind controlled.
Crazy how Jaheira doesn't mention that she also worked with a Bhaalspawn. Funny how Wyll does though.
She mentions it many times in other dialogues, just not this specific one.
I feel like Shadowheart's reaction is a tad bit unreasonable here. Scratch that, her reaction was entirely unreasonable. How was Durge supposed to "bring up that they were once a leader of that cult" if they barely know that fact themselves. She even acknowledges your amnesia immediately afterwards like...what?
i can only reply with the straighest face ever known because this was me when shadowheart says that : -_-
To be absolutely fair, they are aware it is not your fault.
Props to Jaheira and Halsin for being so reasonable about the situation. Not freaking out on poor Durge for something they have no memory of
That’s because they both have a high wisdom stat. Wisdom would tell them that the Dark Urge is a different person now, especially since the only way you can keep both Halsin and Jaheira this far into the game is by being a decent human being.
Heh. Gortash spewing his whole plan in a room full of witnesses....
Tadpoled witnesses.
Tadpoles AND soon-to-be dear witnesses
Tadpoles AND soon-to-be dead witnesses
I talked to Gale (who I was romancing) right after the coronation. Gale first scolded me and told me to give him time. I talked to him again literally one second later and he was back to normal romantic banter xD. 'Give me time' seems to be code for 'until our very next conversation' xD
Regardless of all the reaction, man that VA kills it!
Shadowheart with the karen hair 😂
Huh, in my playthrough, those talks didn't happen. I wonder why.
Anyhow, I just want to go back to Gortash and side fully with him. Him and I should rule. I love Gortash. I want a romance option for him.
My companions didn't react either. So aggravating.
I love how pragmatic Minthara is.
If Gortash is the "monster at the gate" then I am the demon that consumes those who pass.
Weird, I didn't have such reactions with everyone like this. But I also kept my Urge a secret as long as I could, really didn't party up with Jaheira much, was romancing Karlach (she even sided with me at the temple) and I turned down Gortash's offer.
My game is bugged lol
I didn't even get the same dialogue.

@@zygmutt damn 😔 Oh well
seems like these don't trigger correctly if you've told the party you're a Bhaalspawn before this, which is a shame because honestly i think the fact that you're responsible for the Absolute is frankly the more important issue here. Wyll and Astarion's dialogue is the same here as it is if you tell them you're a Bhaalspawn after having a dream about it.
I had different dialogue for Astarion, it was great.
laezel, astarion, and wyll have reactions to this reveal, but it seems you didn’t talk to them about the bhaalspawn reveal before the reveal with gortash. laezels mad at you like a lot of others, wylls mainly worried about his father, and astarion thanks you as it was you, not the mindflayers, who was ultimately the reason why he was saved from cazador
Thought was a bug but that wasn't problem with karlach lol
Heavy reactions from all companions
What have you done to shadowheart?? 💀
I was bothered by everyone in my camp saying she cut her hair when she barely changed it, so I got a mod that changes her hair to a shorter style after her hair change, lol. I think it's cute
@@zygmuttI like it! What’s the mod?
After we found out. It might be something to do with Karlach being in the party, but I have no idea otherwise.
I love Shadowheart’s reaction.
Astarion said different in my playthrough, he actually thanked me for being a evil bastard and saved him from Cazador. He owe me his life I guess.
MAn isn't Gortash just Boris Johnson alter ego???
Your durge is so pretty
omg what armor is that on Tav i love it
Redeemed Durge is so embarrassing lmao. It’s one of the things I can’t bring myself to do
How do you trigger the Karlach dialouge because im romancing her and she doesnt even mention me being former Chosen of Bhal
@@hailey8941 yeah, for me they were only talking about Mizora like they didn't just learn something groundbreaking about my Tav
If you tell Karlach to wait/be patient when first approaching him, for some reason it plays the normal tav version of the conversation instead.
I can’t take shadowheart seriously with that hair
What mod is the armour Minthara is wearing?
Do you have to ally with Gortash to get this dialouge? None of my companions mentioned it, not even Karlach who i was romancing
Shadowheart doesn’t care if you’re romancing her 😂
Gortash didn't tell me ANY of this wtf ToT thanks for making this vid but wtf why in my durge game he didn't say anything ?? it felt different to tav but none of these revelations
another example of minthara being the most intelligent and level headed companion which makes it all the more irritating she's blatantly unfinished like halsin
I never got these reactions. Maybe its because the only Durge thing I really did was kill Alfira
The hells did you do to Shadowhearts beautiful hair 😭
I didnt get this in my playthrough i think because i told everyone anout my urges
How do you have Halsin and Minthara?
When you attack the Goblin Camp leaders, knock out Minthara instead of killing her. You will be able to meet her again in Act 2 and recruit her.
Also i hear you have to make sure she is temporarily hostile @@sowietdoge6259
No companion was like this when I did durge wtf
do the companions only get mad at you if you killed isobel since i didnt get any of those
no, but i think these reactions only show up if you a) didn't tell karlach to be patient when confronting gortash, and b) didn't tell your companions that you're bhaalspawn ahead of time.
@@thefandomlife991 I didnt even have an option to tell them i was bhaalspawn. And none of my companions ever talked about me being bhaalspawn either.
Yes, it still does happen if you reveal you were a Bhaalspawn beforehand, unfortunately.
Oh my, what did you do to shadowheart's hair 😭
It's my game and I think the short hair is cute lol
The other companions make a bunch of comments about her cutting her hair despite having the same hairstyle just in a different color, so I made it so she does actually cut it.
it seems as though who has special dialogue reacting to you having worked with gortash depends on something - because gale, astarion, halsin, karlach, and jaheira all had something to say for me. But the others just had the same dialogue from learning i was bhaalspawn.
Do they still react this way after telling them you’re a bhaalspawn?
from what i've been told, no.
@@zygmutt neat
@@danomyte67 Yeah, I just played this part a few days ago with my Durge... They absolutely still reacted this way after I got the Bhaalspawn camp reveal in Act 3, and it was more than a little off-putting.
@@thefandomlife991 that's so stupid. Reminds me of the first camp conversations I had as Durge. I told all of them, that I'm really messed up and want to kill people. Their reaction: yeah, all of us feel like that sometimes. Then Durge kills Alfira and everyone acts shocked lmaooooo. Astarion had the AUDACITY to say "you could have told me".. like bitch, I told you like a week ago 😂
@@lcicada Oh man, same. I was like, Karlach you was the SECOND person I told after Astarion! Were you too busy thinking about tits to register I found out my dad is the god of MURDER three days ago?!
I understand wanting to mod the game, but this was so hard to just watch with movements being so janky. I could never imagine playing it like that.
That's not mods, my PC is just 11 years old
@@zygmutt Seems to be common, though. I see a lot videos where people run without mods and even more where they run with mods -- and the ones with mods always have issues with movements and glitches.
@@Cyb3rM1nd Could be, but my game runs more or less the same whether I have mods or not. Just an old machine.
This is really confusing. They talk to you like you are dark urge but you are just a women
The gender, class, and appearance of the dark urge is fully customizable. A lot of people keep the default male Dragonborn look but just as many do their own thing.
