- Ok maybe it didn’t happen EXACTLY like that, but when France and America officially formed the Treaty of Alliance in 1778, it certainly turned the tide of the war in America’s favor!
So why would France want to help a fledgling nation win its independence from England?
France and England were enemies already, and France saw this as an opportunity to weaken its adversary. (A chance to get revenge after the Seven Years War? Yes please!)
Benjamin Franklin convinced the French that helping us would be in their best interest. (Nice work, Ben 😎)
Our victory at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 made the a French believe we actually stood a chance to win the war. (Yay us!)
And thanks to this crucial alliance, that is exactly what happened!
"Do you want to form an alliance with me?" "No, not really..." "You get to fight the Briti-" "TO ARMS, MEN!"
Yes!!
We only won the war because of French ships..
And they only joined to mess with the Brits...
We can't write fiction this wild..
"Btw, we're also kinda Briti-"
"What?!"
"Nothing.."
Benjamin Franklin spent YEARS in France trying to get them to ally with us.
Quite a stay too, look up what they found in his basement. 😂
I love history. it's my favorite subject

It's a shame most US citizens that are very proud of their country. Do not know that with the assistance from France we were able to gain our independence from King George.
Speaking as a southern American... The only real common knowledge down here is snakes gave women their periods, and you have to watch out for witches.
Excellente!
Yes, Ben Franklin did request the French for their help; but, ol' Ben was a well known ladies' man and entertained many of them, too. He lived for several years on America's dime while he continued his philandering ways. He did volunteer for that job, you know.
We have more than repaid the French, TWICE in twenty years we fought and many young American men died just to win France back and gave France back to the French.
The Marines have a joke, "If a Frenchman offers to sell you his gun, buy it. You know its never been fired and only dropped once". 😊
Ben Franklin should be in this
Was gonna say that
Young Shane Gillis right there
Nice
Fax machine and phone on the background. Very historically accurate
We couldn't of won the Revolutionary War without france and its navy

Hold on George, my phones ringing!😂
Wasn't Ben Franklin the emissary though?
He was :) We go into the history behind the real event in the description.
Nice 😂
Ehh Americans still wanted to take as much as they could of gotten. Couldn’t thrive in a place such as Quebec like the hardy French 🤟🏻🤘🏻
😂
Lol
Shouldn't that be Franklin?
Technically, yes :)
We dive into the history behind this alliance in the description.
Of course do, you are both useless solo.
