I’ve been carnivore about a month. Our family stuffs the eggs for a small community egg hunt. Someone donated Reese cup eggs. (Cue doom music.) After about a week of them sitting on the shelf, I caved and ate two. Then later I ate another one. (I had thought about hiding the bag and eating all of them, replacing the bag later with another one I bought.) Oh, that first bite was luscious! But the second…not so much. The third, even less so. … I put the package back in the basket, having only eaten three small eggs. Yes, that first bite was all I had hoped for. But the rest… ugh. The peanut butter was cloyingly sweet and icky grainy. The chocolate tasted chemical-ly. The aftertaste was bitter. And they did not sit well. Before, I would have eaten the whole bag so quickly, I could not have really tasted them. But now, I slowed down to savor them, like I do my hamburgers with butter and cheese. They did not compare. And this time, I did not beat myself up. Instead, I cheered for myself! Good lass! You paid attention! And you stopped after 3 in 8 hours! Non-scale victory for sure! Thank you for having taught me so much already, SBG! 😍

Just got back from vacation. Stayed really good with eating but had cocktails and beers on the beach and just had fun. Went right back to carnivore the next day. Took me about 4-5 days after to rebound and lose all of the weight gain and get back to feeling better. No guilt no shame.. sometimes you have to make choices and just understand there are consequences. Deal with it and move on. Life is too short and too good to be hard on yourself.

Unfortunately, it also caused me GI issues (gas, bloating, inflammation, acid reflux) and some very severe bouts with gout. I was never able to get full (satiated) on the WFPB diet. The WFPB didn't work for me. I've been on Carnivore for a little more than a month, and every health issue I had has either improved or gone away. I have 2 cheat meals a month. Here's what I found out:
    1. Most foods no longer have that particular feeling of euphoria, and also the taste of those foods actually taste terrible to me. I've noticed that fruits and vegetables taste amazing to me.
    2. Watching how certain foods affect my gut, skin, and hair has had an almost immediate effect (bout 1 -12 hours depending)
    3. The withdrawal feeling of not eating certain foods, and then realization that after eating something on my cheat list no longer "does it for me." (Expanding on #1)
    4. Appreciating my dedication to myself when I know that I can eat whatever I want whenever, but I do not, because I understand that who I was before was not happy in the mirror or internally with myself.
    5. Being an example and making others around me a little healthier. Since I am not always buying fast food, junk food I've watched my kids lose some weight and get on a better eating pattern.
To conclude, this method of eating has helped me so much and well I know that it is not for everyone, it would recommend it for everyone that is trying to get their health back on track, so they can make better decisions for the rest of their lives. This channel and others like it have been wealth of positive information. Thanks so much!

In November of 2019 I was 405 LBS. I'm a 5'10 (on a good day) 49 year old man. I decided I wanted Gastric sleeve surgery. They put me on the Liver Reduction diet. This is a diet that preps you for surgery by actually reducing the size of your liver. It's pretty much starvation. 800 calories a day. I did that until my surgery in March of 2020. At the time of my surgery I was 360 lbs. After surgery I got down to 305 lbs. Then started to put the weight back on. I got back up to 346. I had an A1C of 6.5 and got a diabetic diagnosis. In April of 2023 I went on Mounjaro. I burned off the weight like crazy. By December 2023 I was 275 lbs. Then my weight loss plateaued. I stayed the same weight all through December, January and February. I started looking for ways to kick start my metabolism, and stumbled upon Carnivore. The first week I lost 10 lbs. I'm down 20 lbs total so far to 255 and it hasn't even been a month. My exercise routine consists of walking the dog around the block, if the weather is nice enough. If not, I'm solely a coach potato. This past weekend I was at a party. There were cookies. I wanted a cookie. I ate a cookie. Satisfied that the cookie was not all that I thought it would be, I went back on plan immediately. I actually dropped a pound that night. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is that while I have not reached my goal weight, I've learned a thing or two (sometimes the hard way) about losing weight and keeping it off. 1. Modern medicine is wrong a lot about what is and is not healthy, but they're also right a lot of the time too. So never just dismiss what you're doctor is telling you even if it contradicts what some other doctor on youtube who does not know you, is telling you. 2. Losing the weight when you are morbidly obese is more important than the means by which you lose the weight, meaning, do what works for you. Carnivore is great for me so far. It may not be great for you. The human body is the most complex machine in the universe. If cars can run on flex fuel than of course your body can. Do what works for you, whether that is Keto, Carnivore, Vegan, Weight Watchers, Drugs, whatever. Lose the weight like your life depends on it because it does. 3. If you're sticking to your plan, and you're serious about it, and you're confronted with a cookie that you must have, eat the cookie. If it's a piece of cake, eat the cake. Pie, eat the pie. Eat it. Get it over with. Let the experience wash over you and disappoint you, because it will disappoint you. It's not as good as you think it will be. Nothing is. Then just move on with your plan. It's normal. Set backs are normal. Treat it like the stock market. You're in it for the long term.

Avoid drugs at all cost. Sorry you got the surgery, but avoid the surgery. Make lifestyle changes. It takes years, even decades to get to where you are, you’re not going to fix it overnight. Be patient, consistent and stick to it. That’s my 2 cents.

  • @rachelk3965

The carnivore diet, like so many things in life, is about consistency not perfection. If you're looking for perfection, then look in the dictionary. That's the only place you'll find it. Be kind to yourself!

This is our second month of carnivore. I’m so glad you address this topic. We have four children 6 and under, my husband travels for work and we homeschool; some nights I am so exhausted that cravings find me. Some nights are okay but others result in a spoonful of peanut butter. It’s frustrating and there is a little bit of guilt. But I think addressing this topic and letting people know this is relatively normal and to get back in the wagon is sooo good!

I bought myself a six pack of crisps (potato chips in US) a chocolate bar, and a pizza and ate them all on Saturday. Been on carnivore since August, but have had the odd craving along the way. I just go for it. I currently have a sore neck and my wrist is sore, and my muscles feel stiff. Oh, and....the toilet the day after was not pleasant. Coincidence? nope. Do I feel 'shame' when I try a stunt like this? Absolutely not. It just confirms to me that carnivore is the way to go.
It will take me a little time to feel better again, but I'm on my normal proper food and it will sort me out. We sometimes get frustrated about things, and we rebel against ourselves. Trying to suppress feelings is not good. Kids when they are upset about something, just let it all out in one go and they are done. We need to learn from kids.
Carnivore wins again for me. It never fails to make me feel good and now I absolutely know that garbage food has never made me feel good, ever. But will that stop me from having another one of those days? Probably not, but I'll never eat all of that again that's for sure!

I have grown to realize I need salt !!!
Chicken skin salty & crispy really quenches my urge.

Yes today they hit so hard it wouldn’t stop . I Almost went to the store . Instead I immediately made a ribeye & looked up carnivore content and this came up . I know the contrast with me going off track . I lose my food freedom and that’s why these cravings are so intense right now . When I’m eating only ruminant meat the cravings don’t come at all .when I eat chicken or fruit or dairy .
But yesterday and today I didn’t give in and it eventually passed .

I’ve missed out on the guilt and shame because as a Follower-of Jesus Christ I give all to him including that. I’m not saying that other Christians are not doing this, but God has spared me this because I’ve dealt with this topic my with my whole childhood. Not with weight but several things that happened to me starting at age 3. I came on board with carnivore for my health. At almost 67, I have turned a corner in my health due to eating this way, as many have already done. Respect for us all that hold fast to our goals even when we fall, we pick ourselves back up and start again. ❤

My life journey has had so many rollercoasters that I was able to ditch the guilt quickly. I acknowledge when I am diving into an emotional binge. I use it as observation.. i look at the effects it has on my mood, stomach, joints etc. And I get new information everytime. I have been getting more carnivore overtime. I have also evolved my binges from large amount of junk to several bites at a time. I actually get a lot of joy and liberation from my "cheats" I have fewer and fewer negative reactions and sometimes something like a bit of iceberg lettuce can be a spectacular sweet! Now when I cheat, I then follow up with fat and meat immediately... I don't put carnivore off until a future moment. I am carnivore surrounding that insignificant treat.💚💚💚

I’ve been yo-yo-ing for years. I know how the cravings feel and I know how I will feel when I give in. I deliver to 5 or 7 walmart stores each day. Every time I walk through trying to find a manager for my delivery, especially this time of year, there are multiple aisles of candy and junk that I have to walk by. Years ago on keto I made this repeatable conversation in my head; “you know this won’t make you happy”, and, “you know it’s not as good as you think it is right now, and you will be miserable later.” Then I keep walking. Side note, this life experience helped me get off my high horse and empathize with other addicts in our society that don’t get as much compassion. When they say they want to quit, they mean it. When they relapse, it’s because everything in them is screaming for them to give in and get more. I get it.

When I slip up and give in to a craving - admit it, regard it as an experience, not the end of the world, and definitely not an excuse to continue to binge. Cut the “guilt trip” out and immediately revert to my goals and make the very next meal carnivore, keto or whatever health path I’ve chosen, to get back on track.

Aloha, Joan. I've been carnivore for almost the same amount of time and trying to find my way just like you. BTW: I'm a 78-year-old woman living alone; I'm 5', weigh 111 so I'm near my desired weight. I'm not doing Carnivore for weight loss but in order to self-heal my IBS and SIBO health problems that my docs won't/can't address.
Recently, after reading Dr. Shawn Baker's very informative book "The Carnivore Diet", I started to realize there were SO many diverse and delicious carnivore choices other than just a ribeye steak for us. For example, bison, lamb, goat, chicken thighs & party wings (yum!), liver, all types of seafood -- fresh & canned tuna, salmon, sardines, mackerel, shrimp , etc., along with eggs boiled, fried, scrambled, in omelets, and dairy (milk, cream, butter, cheese) if you can tolerate them.
Also, I found it much more enjoyable to have two or three kinds of protein on my breakfast plate (ex 2 eggs, 1/2 T butter, 1 beef or pork brat/knockwurst, 1/2 can of sardines/mackerel) and for dinner (ex. 1-2 chicken thighs, 1/2 T butter, some canned pink salmon).
This is our journey to better health as we age gracefully, Joan. Don't give up! Keep listening to our Carnivore experts and please keep on trying new carnivore foods to help with making wholesome choices for diverse nutrition sources and for overall eating enjoyment❣
