😁SHIMOODAAAA MIIIIMAAAAA and MIITAAAA ETSUUUKOOOO (LCO) are my favorite wresters. Period. They're the reason I watch wrestling. Awesome video. (I've never seen the end of Million Dollar Baby...)
I love old school Joshi wrestling and I always heard of this insane 10 hour event over the years. But never had a chance to check it out. This is absolutely amazing to look back at and see that it will most likely never happen again. You really went into detail. You have a new subscriber
Toyota is a real G, her Victory Star Drop is one of the craziest finishers in all of wrestling. Every time she did it (especially when she hit it on Aja Kong) I wondered how she isn't just straight up killing people 🤣 What a legend...
I love Joshi wrestling, I am a total mark for TJPW, but 10 hours... that would be hard to sit through as an audience member, so kudos to anyone who actually stayed for the whole 10 hours. It is also crazy to me to think that Emi Sakura started wrestling the year after this event. I actually remember seeing a comment on twitter a few months back when GCW were in Japan and this individual was complaining that Aja Kong was in a comedy match and that she had fallen from these days, but as I pointed out, with the career that Kong has had, she wouldn't be doing a match of any style if she didn't want to, so if she wants to have fun, let her have fun, it is honestly why I love watching her wrestle with Raku, cause you can genuinely see she really enjoys working with Raku, imo if wrestlers are enjoying what they are doing, then as an audience, we enjoy it more
The second recap of this show I've seen, surely I can skip watching the whole 10 hour show or do I need to keep watching recaps until I hit the 10 hour mark? On a completely different note, I always love the little things like shouting out KevMullen being in Japan. I can indeed confirm that he's in Japan having seen him at multiple shows already. I'm more of a lurker in terms of this/wrestling community at large but it's fun to recognize people in the audience.
@@meerkat_ultra highly recommend it. The thunder queen in Yokohama match he reviewed made me watch the entire match and it instantly become my favorite match of all time.
Several small comments this time. I love how many people in this 30 year old show still wrestle today. Given how stiff they worked in this era, the fact that so many of these people are still working is a statement to how tough they all were. This may not be a fair comparison, but AJW reminds me of TJPW in the sense that their shows tend to be a cross section of everything that pro wrestling can be. AJW has more gravitas behind it, to be sure, but the same "this is all of wrestling in one place" kind of feel is there for me. I had to check the description after noticing that so much of the music was different Yoko Shimomura tracks to see the credit. I don't know how Meerkat feels about her, but Shimomura is my pick for the single best video game composer there is, and given that this is the best of 90s joshi, it seems to line up for me!
Definitely felt appropriate to use Shimomura’s music. Street Fighter II music are like childhood lullabies, and then Kingdom Hearts for my adolescence. Iconic music all the round.
If you haven't heard it, I recommend the soundtrack to Legend of Mana. At one time, Shimomura said it was her favorite of her own works, which is extremely high praise, and it lives up to that praise. Unfortunately, I can not recommend the game Legend of Mana, as much as I personally have great fondness and nostalgia for it. You would have to enjoy a piecemeal story that barely tells itself, quests that almost never provide any guidance on how to start them let alone finish them, and systems far too complex to justify what they do... Oh, wait. You like Elden Ring. Yeah, okay. Maybe give it a look.
The wrestlers Japanese amateur wrestler was Kyoko Hamaguchi. She is the daughter of Animal Hamaguchi and was at the time said to be considering to become a pro wrestler but ended up being far too successful at freestyle wrestling.
You're such a Geek in a good way! Love your videos!

Great video... also RAHHHHH MARS VOLTA MENTION
Keep up the amazing work brotha!!!
Spectacular Meerkat.
Great video Meerkat. Joshi having fun in the back is timeless.
I loved playing WCW vs the World when it came out on PS1 but now, having gotten more into 90’s Puroresu, I appreciate it even more.

Happy new year! Merroookate
21:35 Will do thank you. Best role of Aya Kong, being guardian of Raku of course🙏
Reggie still shit-talks Chigusa because of that match, so it's wild you found it as good as you did~
I didn't know any of that 😂 makes it even better after 30 minutes of shoot fighting.

Only if you want a gold star 😊
🙏
How is it you make me tear up in emotion with every video you make . You speak of and mi toyota and i weep .
Do you watch any of Kim Justice Wrestling Road? He does some reviews on old Joshi Events like this. Great channel!
I’ve seen the channel but haven’t caught any content as I was making this one at the time.

I love when you go full film nerd.
And can we get a modern 3D wrestling game with that full Tokyo Dome style stage and walkway?

Is the ref in the yellow shirt in the bull nakano segment, stardom's daichi?
@@markjeffery1697 you know I wanted to say something but I wasn’t 100%. He did ref for AJW around this time. I just can’t tell.
Yeah, I can't tell either, it looks like him, only 30 years younger. You should do a video on him, he's quite a cool dude, actually
Daichi did make his debut at All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling in 1988, so the dates do line up, though.
Yes it is~
I have a few close friends who went to this event. their asses was stone at the end so they couldnt move anyway
