    What a great video Matt! One of your best if you ask me. Not only fantastic dramatic video shots, but your diverse music selection was also spot on. Highly appreciated!!

    I always pack some bully beef tuna and Vienna's in brine for back up. Saved me twice in my life for a dinner. Lol

    Pretty sure I have a better understanding of what the surface of Mars is like after watching some parts of this video. Great content, and ready for more.

    Great footage and well documented Matt! 👌 Thanks for taking us along🙂. Please let us know what the issue and resolve with the fridge was. I’ve got the 80L Snowmaster in the back of my Hilux and traversed some tough terrain with no issues, so keen to learn from your expeirence.😊

      Thanks Lionel! The entire power unit was stuffed and needed to be replaced. Still not sure what caused it.

    You figure the heat broke down your fridge or maybe all the washboard ripples shook something loose? If the latter, maybe the next one you can mount on some springs much the same way a chainsaw engine or back pack blower engine is mounted on small springs to isolate the vibs. Just a thought. This has been so awesome to watch and I am like you- I like things to go according to plan LOL

    • @mattdubber
      @mattdubber  2 роки тому +1

      Could be, but the fact that EVERY other electronic component in the entire vehicle has been solid tells me that the fridge likely wasn't designed/constructed very well. An off-road fridge should be made to handle much worse.

    I’ve only watched the first few seconds of this video, and I had to stop and comment. So I’ve literally just got back from 3 weeks touring Namibia. The dust up north is exactly like baby powder. It gets everywhere. Don’t get me wrong. It’s one of those things… suck it up and put your big boy pants on. But man! When I got home - and after 4 car valets I’m still finding dust. I lost my *#%^. My FJ has now gone for a multi $$$$$$ valet where even the seats are removed. I don’t mind the battle scars from touring. Ie: the dents and scratches. But that dust? That’s next level. I also think you have the same brand fridge I had…. Sadly I was let down as well. It does not cope well with heat. Especially dry heat. Anyway. I feel your pain. Thanks for some great shows! 🤙🏻 carry on.

    My fridge also broke twice. Once when i was camping in leeuwenbosh. And the other time at tankwa. Luckly my buddy was with me. I found to not put my fridge at the back of the bakkie behind the wheels . It bumps to much and cracks the gas pipes. Better to be as much in the centre of the bakkie.

      @@mattdubber is it the same fridge (Snomaster) that failed the previous time? same problem?

  • @svrooyen
    @svrooyen 2 роки тому +1

    I see you used a snomaster fridge. When it stops working does it flash its indicator light on the fridge itself.
    I noticed when traveling my sigarette ligher socket would vibrate, and result was the control board identified it as low voltage and went into protection mode, also happened sometimes when starting the vehicle.
    If you have similar situation you could try an anderson plug instead of the fridge socket/sigarette lighter socket.
    Since using anderson plug never had issues.

    • @mattdubber
      @mattdubber  2 роки тому +1

      I use an Anderson plug, so that isn't the problem. The power stayed on, but the unit just didn't cool. It was a part that needed replacing.
