Going with the OEM model is good if you liked it. Something people may not know is a retail tire is going to have more tread and last longer than the OEM fitted tire if the same model. It will be better than the OEM set.
I have a 2018 Indian Scout (not a Bobber) and need a new rear tire but will replace both if recommended. I ride a lot (in Colorado, so lots of twisty roads) both in frequency and miles per ride……but I live off of a sandy gravel road (3 miles). Should I focus on a tire for cornering and touring or something with more tread for the dirt road? The gravel road can get rather treacherous after a rainstorm so I’m unsure what tires would be best.
Buy all my front tires from JP. I've shunned MC tires for the rear until someone makes one that lasts more than 12k miles. Hope to see all at Anamosa open house again.
04 Sportster 1200c - What is your take on regular rear tire & fatter front from stock spoked on stock setup 21” to 19”; Ride style is a bit more trusty on rear tire and leaning hard enough for a track. Thanks guys!
@@richardcole1280 thanks, I was informed by my local HD to stick with the Dunlop’s tire but also trying to have the best front tire to help against horrible road conditions in my city!
@@jedifabiano930 a fatter tire won’t address the (bumpy?) road conditions. That’s a suspension issue. Take it to a suspension guy and have them set your sag, compression and rebound. Also set your tires to 30/30 psi.
Very informative, thanks Question : do you recommend Firestone nostalgic Tyre for my customized slim s?? I have been told it is not very sticky. Thanks
Ive bought dunlops from jp , the first 402 the rear tire was almost 7000 miles , with the brags of the american elite I changed to them , right now I have 4900 on the rear tire and its gone , no burn outs , no passengers and no large box on the back chrome luggage rack instead ,08 ultra . Dunlop never returned my call . Some people seem a little confused , ultra weighs about 950 pounds , their are 2 wheels , that means about half the weight is on one wheel and half on the other wheel and maybe 55% on one and 45% on the other , or even 60% -40% ,the point is 950 pounds is not on one tire . Stop at a weigh station an ask . You do have to figure what total weigh you may haul , camping , passenger etc... Im looking at 888 and C ll , I ran 880 on my 1200C about 9000 miles on the rear . $200.00+ and I dont get 10,000 miles isnt worth it to me .
Hey Patrick, great info, any recommendations on what we should consider for those of us with trikes? Currently have an ‘06 Ultra Classic with a Champion rear. Thx

I have a dyna convertible my tyre size is 130/90B16 can I upgrade to a 180
How about the wrong width changes the aspect ratio and the profile and messes up the handling.
Nice video! I need one tire!

A wider front tire will slow turn in ona slow turning (tipping) bike. Stick with stock size
