    Oh my goodness! I feel your pain and panic when the box started bowing out. I had that happen with a tray once, and it did not come with supports. I was scrambling around my studio for books and anything else that I could stack up next to it. Of course resin was flowing all over the place. Good times. 😂😂😂

    The pics in the amazon ad for the box make it look like the bottom is actually the top. Of course, that raised section is to keep the lid from sliding. Anyhow, yours looks good. And thanks for sharing your fails. It helps a lot.

      Thank you! Always learning new things with resin. lol. The other jewelry box I made turned out a little warped too, even though I put the box together first and put the mold in it before pouring the resin. It's definitely a little tricky to get the box shape just right! Glad you can learn from my fails! LOL. Thanks for watching! XOXO

      Once lid is made go back and put resin in lid mold but dont fill all the way. Take the cured lid and put back in the mold face up so raised section will be on both sides. UV works too.

    I am so grateful to have found your channel and this video in particular. Everything except the color issue cause i tried it first time clear was as u said a FAIL. And i laughed when you said you didnt know what the wood material was for either and mine also broke. Thank you for your video and honesty.

      Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! I'm glad I'm not alone in some of these fails! LOL! Yes, honestly, I felt so dumb when I figured out what the wood pieces were for! Oh, well. Art is all experimental anyway, right? ;) I had plans to make more jewelry boxes but other projects got to me first. I really want to make an ocean-themed one! Thanks again for commenting! Have a great night! :)

    We all make mistakes and gain a lot of knowledge from them. I think after this experience you are a far more knowledgeable lady 🤣. I'm so glad you showed us your journey 😘. It did turn out so beautiful. Nice one Trish 👍

      LOL, definitely learned some things in this project! The second jewelry box I made had way less oops moments, but honestly, I liked the way this one came out more! Go figure! Thanks for the comment, Wendy! I'm going to try to post more regularly again if I can. I got a new camera that I am still figuring out. Take care! XOXO

    So much glitter! Thankfully you did not record sound, even I was getting frustrated watching you put it in the box 😁 So glad that you have taken the time to reflect and see how things can be improved, for the next shiny project.
    Keep on creating.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

      Lol I was cursing so it's a good thing I removed the sound! I almost thought half of it was going to spill out and I'd waste all so much resin and have to start over! 😅 Thanks for watching!

    Hey Trish i noticed that the mold with the liquid is like the traditional jewelry boxes. Just like the ones with a ballerina music box.

      Yes, same style of box. :) The mold is really cool! Working with resin is so fun. I hope to get back to it soon. Thanks for commenting! :)

    It is GORGEOUS!!! I love the black and gold mixture. So do you think if you had mixed the ink into the resin mixture would it of dried better? And has it since dried? I recently purchased some box molds and Resin. So again this video is super helpful for me. I had wondered to myself how do you know how much resin to put in the molds. Well.. now I know. Sad thing is.. from the video view we could see that the box was not staying straight. My molds did not come with wood pieces, so again I learned a valuable thing to make something ahead of time.
    I really love that I found your channel. I look forward to watching many more of your videos. TYFS!!! I hope you have a wonderful blessed weekend!!!

      Thank you so much! So, the gold was actually tint and not alcohol ink. When I bought it, I thought it was ink, so that is why it needed to be mixed more into the resin, because it wasn't absorbing into it. I wiped the gold off as much as I could, and whatever was left over just dried. As far as the box keeping shape, that is the only thing I would say I don't like about the mold because it's hard to get it to be absolutely rectangle, even with those wood pieces. But I'm planning to try again with a different theme and color (maybe ocean?) and see if what I learned will help with the next one! lol. I know it's hard to know how to use these molds without a guide. I'm glad you found my video helpful! I appreciate your wonderful feedback and kind comments! I hope you have a great weekend! :)

    How heavier is the box with epoxy resin

    • @trishscreativecrafts
      @trishscreativecrafts  2 роки тому +1

      If you mean how heavy is the box after the resin is cured, it is very light.

      Yeah, when it's your first time using a mold like that and you're new to resin, it's common to make that mistake. It would be nice if those molds came with instructions!

    • @trishscreativecrafts
      @trishscreativecrafts  3 роки тому +2

      I thought about that after the fact! LOL. I may try that in the future! It was a gift and I was pressed for time, so I didn't even attempt it. I do have some jewelry box latches that I had bought for a different project, I bet it would work!

      @@trishscreativecrafts There is a really cool tool I found at Amazon. It's called a Pen Vise. Not sure if you heard of them. But it's a tiny little hand drill type thing. Not electric or batteries tho. It's just a hand crank with tint drill bits. It works really well on resin and a bunch of other products (wood, plastic, anything you want a hole in) to drill a hole for our projects. If you do not have one already you should check them out. They are so cool I bought for my friend too. It would make it really easy to add a handle or knob to the lid. Plus they are really cheap like $8 range or so. I just ordered my silicone cups yesterday. I guess I forgot I will need those also 😊
      I look forward to seeing more from you.
      Have a wonderful rest of your weekend

      @@debraschillinbags I do have a hand drill that I had bought initially for my wood slice ornaments I made. I've never tried it with resin, though. I'll have to try it!
