He was one of the most naturally gifted receivers to flame out of the NFL. It’s incredibly rare for someone 6’5 235 to have wiggle like that. He wasn’t just overpowering DBs he was juking them like a 5’10 guy. Then when they actually made contact, he turned into Derrick Henry. His route running for his size was exceptional. He got in and out of his breaks so smoothly while also stopping on a dime for hitches. On top of all that his hands and contested catch ability were both truly special. He is one of the biggest what ifs in NFL history.
George Pickens from UGA plays ALOT like him but in a smaller frame 6’3 217lbs. Mike was unreal to move the way he did at that size. 30 TDs in 2 seasons tho?!?! That’s crazy and if he doesn’t sit out that junior year potentially 40-50 TDs maybe. We seen Braylon Edwards, Fitz, Crabtree, Megatron, Blackmon but this dude was on another level.
Best College WR ever!!! Literally unstoppable. 2024 and because of him I'm still a USC fan. From coming from 15 mins where Maurice Clarett went to highschool, I'm like damn he won the 1st rd against the NFL so Mike Williams entered the NFL also as a Freshman and than Maurice Clarett lost 2nd Rd and the war to the Powerful Corporation the NFL. So his career and Mike Williams never was the same. And for Clarett I know back than it had to suck because as a kid and living by him & LeBron James he was in TV and the newspaper everyday even in highschool. He was more popular than LeBron James at one time in Eastern, Oh.
You seen how years later he made they come back and was balling in Seattle he still had some juice left. But to your point if he doesn’t sit out that year he would’ve had all the receiving records and going to another team he would’ve maximized his potential for sure.
crazy watching these old highlights without HD. it’s hard to make out what’s what. Williams was a beast. unfortunately, he got drafted by my Lions, where careers go to die
@@omegamanGXE Unfortunately he retired early just like Barry Sanders because a team won't get rid of him and they won't win many games. He said if the lines were contenders every year he would have played at least another 8 years
@@YourGrannysThong Yeah what a shame. I’m a Seahawks fan but I like to see the Lions do well. Can’t imagine how annoying it must have felt as a Detroit fan to see Matt Stafford toil away only to win a Superb Owl the first season he’s traded away.
@@omegamanGXE it caused me levels of hurt that are unmeasurable. The Lions are literally a farm system, like in baseball, that builds up some pretty damn good players just to use as bargaining chips in trades or just let them walk in free agency.
@@omegamanGXE but at least you got some great years in the Russell Wilson, Beast Mode, and Legion of Boom. Hate to bring it up but not running at the goal line didnt just change the outcome of that Super Bowl. It started the decline of an extremely talented team. They just weren't ever the same since that play. It changed the course of history for not just the Seahawks but Brady also. I thought it was a very bad decision to split with Wilson. Every interview and puc of him with the Broncos you could tell he was so uncomfortable. Especially the pics with him and Ciara holding up that Broncos jersey. That didnt look like they wanted that at all.
Some ppl forget about how SC swept the auburn series within them 2 years. Blew em out back to back. So much for all that SEC talk when Pete was there , he would play any and everybody anywhere.
Back when Roy Williams, Mike Williams, and Reggie Williams were the 3 best receivers in college football and were all hyped to become pro bowl receivers. None of them lived up to the hype.

dont forget how he missed an entire year because of the age thing where he tried to sue the nfl.
Well said, I just knew he was going to set the league on fire

Hard to believed he flamed out in the NFL damn he was a beast at USC

Pete Carroll one of the greatest coaches ever
One of those classic, retro, USC receivers who absolutely killed it in college but never quite put it together at the next level.
mannn DK Metcalf and mike would be a dangerous duo in seattle if he were to play in the modern season
because he quit and left usc early
This comment makes me feel old. I remember Mike Williams, Keary Colbert, Dwayne Jarrett, and countless other studs at USC.
He was a TE masquerading as a WR and the NFL wasn't stupid enough to be fooled by the act, unlike the daffodil teams USC was facing in this era.
right if he played in 2004 with him and Dwayne Jarrett it wouldve been crazy @@mikewilliams9069
Thought this guy was going to be a stud in the NFL 😢He was incredible in college
Rip

Future USC recruits: BMW walked the walk!
Williams fit in so well with Norm Chows mismatch offensive scheme. He was a walking, talking mismatch to any db in college football.
wish he didn't mess up his junior year we missed out
And now here we are in 2022 and Carson Palmer has retired from the NFL after a career that saw him throw nearly 300 touchdown passes.
He’s my aunt cousin

Damn it... this wasn't that long ago and the film looks like it is from 1972. Is this the best we can do people?
