    Well, there's why my 3.3 won't run! Piston is facing the wrong way. Had the damn cutout facing the exhaust port. Man I've been racking my brain trying to figure out why the hell it stopped running. Appreciate the video, brother. Cheers!

    Hilarious but a freaking great video. I own a T-Maxx 3.3 and my son has the Jato 3.3 and both engines are shot. Watching your video inspired me to rebuild both until I checked the cost of parts. In the U.S. traxxas wants $110.00 for each for a replacement so I'm going to use that route. Wish I could send you my .12 Picco engine from my barely used Jammin CRT.5 to rebuild. Again great video and stay blessed.

    Baking bags work great. My Classic Porsche had aluminum hubs. I placed them in a sealed baking bag in my oven and heated them to about 200f baking bag so that the oil fumes don’t contaminate my oven. I do this with bearing carriers on my 4 wheeler also. Bearings fall right out. And new ones go right in.

      Got a question for you buddy.
      My TRX 3.3 started making a rattling noise after it would warm up so I took it apart and found that the connecting rod bushing that fits on the crankshaft was pushed halfway out towards the rear of the engine. Have you come across that before? Trying to figure out why that would happen.
      The crankshaft bearings had just a little bit of movement.

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  Рік тому

      @@michaelgraham2943 Yeah that is a common failure that's why I usually tell people after the engine is broken in about the first gallon is replaced the connecting rod the bearings and the wrist pin to tighten everything back up again and prevent that from happening.

    After having many problems trying to tune my 3.3 out of the box I put it on the shelf. It’s been a a few years and I have sparked an interest to get it going again. It still has the EZ start. I am unable to turn the engine by hand so I assume the bearings locked up. Some said to just hit it with WD40 but I was considering a rebuild. Can I reuse the rod and piston or should I buy new? I was able to find a few brand new crankshafts on the RC shops discount rack so I grabbed them. Where are you buying your better bearings from? All these guys carry is the OEM replacement. Thanks!

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  Рік тому

      Yeah the bearings most likely are full of junk and need to be replaced which is pretty easy and there's only one way you're going to find out if you need a new crank or a rod or any of that is pulled apart find out. If it has very little run time they should be fine.

    Lol, for a second I saw the Dynamite head and thought you had a Dynamite engine there and this was just gonna be a joke video. Actually pretty useful rebuild vid though. I've seen quite a few 2.5/3.3 rebuild vids, and never noticed that the rod actually has a chamfered edge on one of the bushings. Now realizing, I could very well have that backwards on one of my engines. The only thing I wouldn't have done the same is putting cold bearings into a heated engine block. I'd do one or the other, but I'd be concerned that doing both at the same time would thermally shock the engine block. Although my method is to just use a piece of wood and a hammer to knock in the front bearing, which seems ok, but then for the rear bearing I put it on the crankshaft, then I slide it in as much as possible, and then I screw on the flywheel nut to press in the bearing. Not sure how good that is, but it seems to work.
    Also, I want one of those black heads for my 3.3!

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  3 роки тому

      Thanks man and not a lot of people realize the rod a put them in backwards haha and as far as using the crank to pull the bearings in puts a lot of force on the inside bearing race not the best idea in my opinion. Or if you are going to do it like that a little heat will expand the case away and take less force to pull in. The other problem is it might not be seating in all the way and that can make for some issues. But it it hasn't exploded I guess it works haha

      They can Last up to 20 gallons if you know what you're doing. The Traxxas engines have a very soft connecting rod that is poorly designed and snap after about 3 gallons. It's a good idea to replace them and the piston pin and bearings every so often. To keep them from failing
