    Giant makes their own frames in their own factories. I think that's important and why I would choose the Giant even if everything else was the same. Of course, until I win the lottery, both of these bikes are outside my price range. One can always dream.

      Totally agree. I have a Giant Revolt 1 and I love it but initially I wished for the Revolt Advanced line.... Keyword = wished

      @Anson I believe you’re right. Although it’s hard to know what frames in Trek’s lineup come from Giant’s factories and what engineering specs and tolerances Trek negotiates with Giant. If you get a Giant frame you know it was made by Giant and Giant has THEIR reputation riding on that frame’s quality. Having said that, I would love to have Trek bike. Currently, my daily driver is a 42 year old, steel frame Raleigh SuperCourse! 🤣

      Way back when, Giant made chromoly and aluminum frames for a lot of other bike brands. It was soon after that they started selling bikes with their name on the downtube. In 1988 or so, I wrote a term paper for an MBA marketing class about how Giant was an, at the time, unknown "giant" in the bicycle manufacturing industry. It's definitely an advantage to produce carbon frames "in house" both for quality control and margin control purposes. Maybe that's why it's so rare to hear about one of their PF BB's creaking like other brands have a tendency to do.

    Riding a Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 2019. I'd say this bike is really really underrated. It performs really well and the only thing that requires to change~ is just the wheels to slightly deeper rims. Other than that, top notch bike that you can push into a race/ sportive all day anyday.

    Interesting thing is 2021 Emonda SL6 pro =$4899 cad and tcr pro 1 =$4999 in Canada, $100 difference for way better wheel set + dual side power meter and ~1lb lighter/might be more stiff frame. Yes the Emonda comes with full internal cable routing, better paint job, more modern design etc ... its more aesthetically pleasing in my eye (need to buy the RsL Integrated Bar Stem to make corkpit really look neat), but I'd go for the more classic+cost effective+practical cable routing Tcr pro1 any time, actually like the low key rosewood color alot

    Can you please talk about the new Rose Series?
    I feel they're underated for a pretty solid bike company...
    Maybe compare Rose to Canyon?
    Might come out as an interesting video about Germany's best and most reliable Bike companies (Head to head).
    Can also bring more viewers to the channel, which I absolutely love.
    Keep the good work !!!
    I really like the content :)

    You can buy the Favero Assioma duo pedals for around 700USD or the uno for 410 USD, I have run the pedals after owning an SRM and the value for money is so good in comparison to the giant power meter with known issues due to the shimano cranks having poor designs for power meter implementation on the right side specifically

    I went with the TCR. Emonda SL frame is just so much heavier vs their slr. If I ever want less cables out front the plan is to go red etap. My TCR with pedals, computer mount and bottle cage is lighter than the SL 6 pro without any of that.

    I have a 2017 TCR Advanced disc. I upgraded the handlebars and stem to a shorter Zipp and the OG saddle for a Selle Italia Novus endurance (after a pro fit) plus ditched the PR2s with Campagnolo Zondas and maaaaan after 500 miles all I can say this is such an amazing bike. I will never get rid of it. I do, however, want to add another (much nicer) bike to my collection while continue to use my '17 TCR for training. LePedaler, what would you recommend for an upgrade? Good stuff BTW. Love your reviews man.

    @lepedaler, great content here! Would you please make a video regarding the Roubaix 2020 sport? It has the 105 group set. But would love to see a video where you compare it to a similar styled bike. I think riding fast with comfort makes alot of sense for daily commuters like myself

  • @skyscraper5910

    also, because of the current engineering for the shimano crankside, all the powermeters on that R side are noisy. Theoretically, a single sided Left powermeter could give you a a more consistent reading. Im yet to see any evidence that LR is really necessary given the relative symmetry of the human leg.

    the need for a power meter, unless you compete, get paid or want to bore people by telling them, what zone you rode around in, is worthless, ive had a stages and 2 quarq power meters, the novelty wears off quickly!

    @lepedaler..i think you forgot to point out about the bottom bracket, TCR is press fit vs threaded for Emonda, not a big fan of press fit so i decided on the Emonda, don’t care about the power meter on the TCR anyway.

    I am new into biking and my question is about lower bike models. I was about to buy Trek emonda alr 5. I watched your other video about Giant TCR Advanced 2 today and you were right it's full carbon at almost same price of emonda alr 5 which has aluminum frame. The only difference that Emonda alr 5 has hydraulic disc brake. So, as beginner is the disc will make difference for me and shall I go with the Emonda.

    • @mikebrown600
      @mikebrown600 4 роки тому

      Sami Burhan I’ve got the alr 4 and I’m smashing Strava segments with it, specially on hills. Just one problem: there’s a terrible creaking sound which the local trek shop can’t fix. Rides well though. With a better wheel set it’d be (almost) perfect

      @@mikebrown600 Thanks for sharing your exp with alr 4. Anyway, I checked both bikes in Canada and they are out of stock. I am considering tcr adv 2 because at the same price of alr5, I will get carbon frame

      Also, unless I'm wrong, though I've done a bit of research, they haven't released the emonda ALR for 2021 yet. If they have, it's not the same design as the sl and slr. So if you're looking for the new aerodynamics of the new Emonda, you'll have to go carbon.

    • @Sa-pq1xf
      @Sa-pq1xf 4 роки тому

      @@arthurbutt4589 trek released 2021 Emonda Alr 5 Disc, it is cad $2399 bike. The giant TCR advanced 2 price went up to cad $2499. I still prefer to go with carbon bike despite of the disc on trek is better than the rim.
