It's funny this year as I've been watching people's top lists I have never been annoyed lol There is so much quality this year that it can be completely different and I can be "yup I can see that"

People seriously need to grow up when it comes to hating on peoples musical preferences 😂 It's just someone's personal list. It doesnt mean that the song is going to flop! They can always bump their favourite song up their own list! I do enjoy seeing everyones lists.

I know! It's so silly how people need to grump at others for having a different taste in music. If you don't like other people's ranking videos then make your own. That's what I did and it's been a lot of fun 🙂

Love the content! Thanks! I'm so surprised the Netherlands is the number 1. I'm so curious what surprise Joost brings to the staging. He is amazing on stage but that isn't rehearsed. But after overthinking the song so much, he must have liked the staging too. Even though the rehearsals are not delivering on the hype at all. He could have made a mistake, but he is a Eurovision fan so I think he managed to hide the surpise and will blow us away
I had this crazy idea that the surprise is going to be that it's Käärijä in the blue chicken suit. I've seen clips of them goofing off together, they seemed to have fun, and Käärijä's new song is called Kot Kot (which means Cluck Cluck), so in a way it would also indirectly promote that. I know, it's wishful thinking on my part, I just really love Käärijä and Joost and want them to team up 😂
For folks who might be salty, this year is *incredibly* open. There are paths for so, so many countries to win and basically everyone to do well! This is a fabulous year!

There are many great songs this year. When I listened to all of the songs for the first time I was surprised. Finally! A Eurovision that feels like a collection of unique European genres, sounds and cultures. I wanted to slap myself just to check if I wasn't dreaming.
Interesting as always, Tom. I love your comments on France. We all have a few songs that means that bit more, because we can attach it to a feeling or a place.
Netherlands was also my winner for 2 months but you know what… with that staging Bambie skyrocketed to my winner pedestal🇮🇪🤘 best staging in Eurovision for years and could see a common linets moment for your country Tom☘️

We actually have no less than eight countries in common in our top 10! I don't have Belgium and the UK there, instead I have Portugal and Greece (which are both in your top 20. Greece is currently my #1... I'm just obsessed with Marina. But it's really close, Switzerland, Italy and Netherlands might end up as my final #1. Love to see your appreciation for Europapa, it's really special. This will be such an exciting week! 😃

So happy to see Europapa at #1. I am OBSESSED with that song, it makes me feel both immensely joyful and melancolic (my dad recently died of cancer) and reminiscent of better times (loved Eurodance in the 90s). It's just the perfect Eurovision song to me.
My absolute favourite is Ulveham, I feel that song deep in my soul, but I know it doesn't have a likely chance of winning, so I'm happy to throw my support (and votes) behind Joost Klein.
So many good songs this year though. Croatia, France, Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Armenia would all be worthy winners to me. I had more or less given up on Eurovision during most of the 2010s, and only reelly got into it again in 2021, and since then it's just been getting better and better.

I love seeing France this high up on your list, there seems to be so much hate for it in the fandom. It's been my number 1 since it came out :)
I love this year's ESC because there isn't a single song I find terrible - there aren't even any so-bad-it's-good songs, either. Plenty of great songs I'll come back to for casual listening, perhaps a few songs I don't care that much about, but overall an amazingly high level of quality that makes this ESC year one to remember. If there's hate against any personal ranking for not placing some song higher, it's uncalled for: everyone's ranking is going to look different, otherwise we wouldn't need a contest. I'm looking forward to watching a wild scoreboard on Saturday!
i would love to see joost klein do well. despite being presented as a really fun song, its in no way a 'joke' entry- he is clearly very serious about the competition, it must mean a lot given the meaning of the song.
I totally agree on Bambie. It's well down my top 20 but this is the start of something great for Ireland.
I agree as well. I don't particularly like the goth esthetic, but I love that they're trying something different, and it seems like this time it's an artist that actually wants to be there and who has a clear vision about what she wants. I'm oddly invested and care more about Ireland making it through than my own country (Denmark 🇩🇰). I think taking a risk should be rewarded.

This was a really fun video to watch and really interesting.
Also I don’t watch rehearsals anymore because I want to be surprised but I do look at the odds. As soon as the rehearsals were shown my number 1, nemo dropped down in the odds and I’m really worried that the staging is bad or their vocals aren’t good. To me that doesn’t make sense though because they have seemed so comfortable on stage and are so stylish. But Ig I will find out in 4 days😰
My top 6 are Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia.

I've missed the run-up to Eurovision this year. Unfortunately my health took a significant dip, & when that happens I cannot tolerate sounds, so listening to music has been out. I hope this is over now, until the next relapse. I've only heard about 5 of the entries this year as a result & have also not kept up with the gossip. The last song I heard was Norway, watching their national final.
I've missed your videos, Tom, more than anyone else as I feel you always come across as more authentic & less bitchy than the other Eurovision channels. I'm excited to see your comments on the UK's entry. I have heard it & enjoyed it ad it sounds like an updated version of 80s pop, & I was an 80's kid.
You also mentioned in this video you've got a job. I'm delighted for you. I remember you talking about how difficult it was to find one in your field after you came home from China. I hope you're enjoying it. :-)

My personal favourites this year (random order) Belgium, Spain, Estonia, Australia, Portugal, Italy, Croatia and the Netherlands. Special mention to Ireland (sorry not in my top 10) but applaud them for daring to go for something different and by the look of it, having changed their fortune🙏🍀

I guessed your top 3 ;) Quite a similar list to mine!
So this year I avoided listening to the songs (except Sanremo of course) because last year maybe I heard them too much the actual show wasn't as 'exciting' so basically I listened to all the songs just the other day. So far my favorites are:
1. Croatia: as soon as I heard it I just couldn't stop listening to it, I understand now why its one of the favorites
2. Italy - yeah a lot of bias here but I know it by heart so can't help it.
3. Netherlands, Same as you I thought it was fun and just 'ok' but the ending was really a surprise for me to and I can't watch it without tearing up! I hope they don't cut it out of the performance.
4. Estonia: just love this ethnic feel it reminds me of Moldova 2022, just a fun song.
5. France: classic ballad great voice nice to have a bit of calm in the middle of all these bop songs.
then for the rest of my top 10 in no particular order I like Lithuania, Georgia Luxembourg San Marino and Czechia.
But as I said I just started listening to them so for sure my list will change.

Yes, hype is really big in Croatia and for the first time ever we're gonna have live watching of the ESC final in Zagreb. And don't worry, we won't be upset because Croatia🇭🇷 is "only" 3rd on your list😂😂😂. Different people have different tastes. For example, the song you put 10th (Norway🇳🇴) is my personal No1. And I'm so happy because of your Ireland and Bambie which I also like (in my top 10). They absolutely nailed in the rehearsals and deserve a final this year.

Really sad Ukraine isn't higher on your list (but not mad! LOL!). Wish Ireland could be higher, but I'm just happy they've gone up as much as they have over the course of the season! Other than that I like your top 4 or 5, though Netherlands wouldn't be my top - I have a friend who moved there years ago now and this is the first year she's really into it, so if he won I'd consider it a win! LOL! I love Nemo, that would be wonderful if they won!

I agree with you that the Irish entry might not be the one I listen that much to, but what a stage show! Ireland is now in my top 10, which I never thought - also hoping for Joost to win it, despite having Olly as my favorite.

Great Top 20 Tom. So glad to see Malta in there - OMG, so underrated, and absolutely agree with you re Spain, St.Pedro would have been my top 5 this year. I struggle a little with Ukraine, a fabulous song but the reverence of Mother Theresa, with the accusations of cruelty against her, really sits uncomfortably with me. Sweden could well do higher, generic but it's one I do replay again and again. Previous non-winners? Give me Lithuania every day, Sorry, but Croatia and Netherlands just give me the Diggy-loo Diggy-ley vibes that make everyone I ever try to convert to being interested in ESC - friends work colleagues etc - just laugh in my face

I agree. I am from Sweden and 15 seems about right this year. The sad part is that I seen other talents from the twins that way surpass the genre they are in and do not seem to fit them. Check Marcus and martinus version of wicked games. Or the accustic version of Unforgetable.

Ukraine ranking 17th - didn’t expect it from you. Well, ok ) it seems producers also decided to withdraw Ukraine out of competition this year, giving them 2nd order number (death slot). Nevertheless, I’m sure Ukraine will do great and will be remembered with their entry, no even need to win🙂
