  • Missing Falls Brewing in Akron, OH hosted a cycling event that included kayaking, food and beer.
We started off at the brewery and rode our bikes to Water Works Park in Cuyahoga Falls where Burning River Adventures drove us up the Cuyahoga River and we kayaked for 2 hours back to our bicycles. We had lunch at the park before riding to MCArthur's Brew House for a beer. It started storming but we still enjoyed a wet ride back to downtown Akron for a final craft beer and hang at Missing Falls:

It is so cool to get that unique perspective of our area when paddling the Cuyahoga! I use a fairly light canoe, so I can portage around strainers. With 25 launch points from Burton to Cleveland, there are many options for locking a bike at finish point, then riding back to car to pick up canoe. The Metro Parks are now building a prime launching point at Cascade - Valley View Park. Look forward to more river splorin' content.

What a great name for a River Guide company! I grew up listening to Randy Newman's song Burn On about the burning Cuyahoga River. If you'll pardon the interruption, I've included the lyrics below.

    Cool event

I'm actually new to biking, coming from the kayaking hobby. Careful; kayaking can be equally as fun as biking, if you have enough water near you.

    Cool! Multi-modal

I took a kayaking class in Chicago decades ago. It was amazing how in the middle of a major metropolitan area you could completely disappear into nature. Looks like a fun event. I'd be interested in joining next time.

We’re lucky enough to have a boathouse that’s only a short bike ride away. We’ve enjoyed riding and kayaking more than once. Now if only they would offer tavern service, you know, to cool off after the kayak.

Nice video and thanks for capturing the event. Hope to see you again in August

A fun group ride, enjoyed watching 👍

What a splendid idea. I’ve now got a mission to find a bike shop in the Kansas City area to do this. TY for sharing.

If you make a trip to Columbus with your bike, it would be cool to see you do a video of the latest park "Quarry Trails Metro Park", which combines residential, retail, and the park system, with much to offer and a waterfall to boot. I keep wondering if there is a similar area in Akron to be revitalized in a similar manner. It has mountain biking, kayaking, walking paths, dog park, etc... they keep adding to it. There is even an abandoned, historic cemetery dating from the early to mid 1800s. I rode about 6 miles yesterday to see the updates - and thought "Sure wish Tim could capture this and influence our Summit Co leaders". Oh, sorry for ramble - but thanks for another excellent and informative video. Your style is very inspiring.

Your first duathlon or, perhaps, brewathlon. I’m inspired to do some pedaling, paddling, and pinting.

I wonder if that river now gets a steelhead/ salmon run now. Some of the PA streams that feed Erie get decent runs now. The habitat looks good for it, fast runs and riffles. It's amazing how quickly rivers recover if you stop trashing them (but don't eat the fish of course) .

Thanks Tim! Excellent video as always. Can’t wait for the next event in Aug.

Tim can you point me towards the straps on your front rack?
