I recently bought my first big bike and it is time to upgrade my helmet. I got some advice on picking a helmet that is right for me and how you can do the same.
Visit our sister channel all about our motorhome adventures @stchristopherofatlantis
We've seen the new bike, the RE Meteor 650cc.
All will be revealed…..
Ooof has he changed bike already or bought a second....dun dun der
Going Commando?
@jonathanwright5934 I hope not
In my experience with HJC helmets you need to go up a size, so you should of tried a Large on. Top brand and you could have saved at least £100.. I have a HJC rpha 70 and a shoei btw👍
Quality assistant, super helpful and knowledgeable.
Glad you think so!
Except he thinks the quantic is a race lid smh….
Totally agree - very knowledgeable
Arai fan boy here! The comfort, the fit, the quality, second to none.
👍
Same here, only worn Arai helmets since the late 80’s. Now on my 3rd RX7.
Ha just commented this I really should read the comments first 😂
Very knowledgeable salesman. a credit to the company
👍👍
Steven was fantastic with all the informed info on the Helmets that are available, and for him to be given all his time with you, really good fella 👍.
indeed. as I was watching, I would think of a thing, and as soon as I did, he addressed it. That's a good man.
Glad you enjoyed it! He is great
What a cracking bloke Steven is. Pity you don't have him at every bike shop there would be more people buying from your local shop rather than going online.
Also good on you for showing the importance of buying proper gear.
Agreed 👍👍
Been riding 25 years. Really enjoying yor journey. My wife learning at the minute and she been watching your progress. Stay safe, as my mate said once you ride its in your blood for life.
I agree 👍 Thanks for watching
Very impressed with Steven with his professional advice and excellent product knowledge. Top Drawer👍
Absolutely
What a fabulous salesman. Knew his stuff, gave you great advice in a calm patient and unpressurized manner. How excellent.
I'm a dedicated Arai fan - you know you need more than one helmet, right?!
Don’t tell Claire 😂
@bikerofatlantis Better to seek forgiveness than permission....!
@@bikerofatlantis Oh, also - even though the Schuberth is a relatively quiet lid, you should really wear earplugs, especially for longer / faster rides.
There is no greater investment for a biker than your head protection and your video presented essential insight to help make the right purchase. Stephen’s knowledge is very impressive.
Well said!
Helmet buying is always such fun.....after many years of riding, it's not just bikes that you end up accumulating it's helmets, it's all part of the continuing journey. I've got an adventure bike , a cruiser, a road bike and have open face, full face, flip and adventure helmets....it's the same with jackets, boots and gloves.....summer gear and winter.?..enjoy the adventure and look forward to your next post.....although over the years I was surprised to discover how many of my leather jackets have shrunk !.......stay upright !
Thanks for the info 👍
Noise isolation of a helmet is something I only recently learned to appreciate (switched to faster bike, more time on faster roads). And yes, that's on top of mandatory earplugs. It makes the entire world of difference, a quiet helmet with earplugs.
👍👍
Also agree, I wear ear plugs too. I wouldn't wish tinnitus on anybody..
Love your honesty and lack of ego. Like the channel.
I appreciate that! Thanks
You have done the right thing in going to a local store, best thing you can do. You might aswell not wear a helmet if you're going to get a poorly fitted helmet. I've had a Shoei GT AIR 2 for a few years now and I love it, very comfy and kept me safe when I high sided my Fireblade. Like the guy said, it's usually said you either have a Shoei head or an Arai head.
Very true!
I was given a piece of advice when I bought my first big bike.
See what's the most expensive helmet you can afford , then buy the next one that's more expensive.
It's the one thing that protects your head.
I had a head on crash (not my fault) at 60mph on my R1, helmet arai RX7 disintegrated on a kerb but it saved my head , saved my life, it did it's job ...not a scratch. Get good gloves, boots and leathers too ❤
That's all well and good but there is a Sharp rating for helmets which undergo extensive tests, so there is no need to spend a fortune to get a decent safe helmet. Some of those 5 star rating helmets are only £100.
The helmet did its job. Good to hear you are well 👍
Im an arai man, everything else feels like a metal bucket! Its amazing how different they all are. Ps. BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT, ALWAYS ALWAYS WEAR EAR PLUGS, THE 3M ONES OR OXFORD ORANGE ARE GREAT.
Thanks 👍
Also worth looking at the custom moulded to your ear ones, they are great and relatively inexpensive for the perfect fit and convenience
@Marc_Slade yes your right, they are very good, until you loose 🥴, so I stick to the disposable ones now.
I nick my ear plugs from work
Feels like it was only last week i was watching your first video all about cbt and the 125. Now you're interviewing industry professionals and have gained such a following in a short space of time. Credit to you! Great content.
Thanks so very much for watching 👍
Top video ! Lots of people want to cheapen their gear by going online. These places are a god send with experiance and knowledge. Use them or loose them. I went down last week to look at bikes. its good to have something like this so close. I'm glad they moved from the centre of sheffield.
Hi. Did you go to Via Moto? Yes a great shop 👍
@bikerofatlantis yes I called in on the way back from Jordan bikes in Leeds. It's only 5mins from me thoygh. So I thought I'd call in.
You should always do the chinstrap up when trying on helmets. Modular helmets tend to be heavier - makes a difference on long trips. Arai offers three different head shapes for a better fit. Saving up for a new Arai.
Hi. Thanks for sharing
How did you find the chin strap once you started riding? I have the E2 (adv version of the C5) and it took a while to adjust the chin strap length for my Adams Apple. Btw you can get special helmet specific decals to add colour over the base grey and they are easy enough to remove
Brilliant salesman superb knowledge, I remember when I raced back in the dark ages a guy said to me if you have a ten bob head buy a ten bob helmet , if your heads worth a fiver buy a good helmet, because of the kite /ce marks etc its all about comfort. Regards Robert & Carolyn.
Hi Robert and Carolyn, thanks for watching
Via Moto is a top quality outfit. A credit to the industry 👍
We agree!
After 10 minutes I already learned something new after 2 years of bike riding 😅.
Congrats on getting over 10k subs. You got here in just a few weeks. Which means you're giving back to the biking comunity a lot.
Thank you for that
Awesome! Thank you!🤩
When I saw you’d done a half hour video on helmets, I thought nooooo! But in actual fact, that was a really informative video. I’ve been biking a long time, and have been through the same process many times! We must support our local dealers.
I also have a flip front helmet, and love the versatility they bring. Amazing on warm summer days. The only downside is that they are a bit heavy.
Enjoy your biking adventure. I’ll follow with interest.
Delighted you enjoyed watching! 👍👍
Pinlocks are not a complete god send they are designed to withstand around 2 mins of breathing continuously without any airflow so if at traffic lights for 10 mins with visor down it willl steam up but once moving the airflow will disperse the moisture and instead it up. Remember to adjust the pins every couple months to keep it in tight as they do bed themselfs out over time
Thanks
I’ve got a shoei neotec 3 and it’s great for me - light, comfortable and convenient flip front. I got comms built in and can listen to music. It’s also got a built in sunvisa. I can’t imagine not having a flip front it’s the best of all worlds.
Thanks for sharing!
@@bikerofatlantis you missed out on the modulars that go up and over and the chin bar goes at the back, I find them much nicer than riding around with a sail on your head. I have the predecessor to the current shark oxo
I am going to make a suggestion, if you can find it in your country. It's likely the best helmet on the market and one of the more expensive helmets.
Go with the "LS2 Advant X Carbon modular Helmet with cardo" communications system installed.
You can change the communication system if you want, but you probably won't. Because this is a top of the line in helmets, and it has the communication system installed, this will be around $730 US. The cardo adds about $200. I don't really ride with other people. For me, this is more useful for answering the phone, which you do by voice commands. If you did ride with other people, this will also allow you to communicate with them. It also allows you to listen to music from your phone. I use it with UA-cam music.
There are different versions, but this one solves a lot of issues at once for people who are riding normal bikes on the roads. This is not a “flip front” helmet, it is a 180 degree flip, which means that the chin bar rotates all the way to the back of the helmet. It is also certified for both full faced helmet and in the flipped position. With a normal flip front helmet, you cannot ride with it in that position. Even if it has been tested because the air is going to catch it, and they don't protect your chin. Also, “tested” and certified are two entirely different things.
I am writing this before I have watched the video, so I don't know yet which one you might have picked.
Edited: Modular helmets are not particularly for touring, but they would be good for that. Where they come in handy is for when you stop for gas or to stop at a store. Now you don't need to remove your helmet, you just flip it back and go into the store. People tend to freak out when someone comes into a store with a full face helmet on. Another suggestion is to ride with a helmet if you can before you buy it. The wind noise goes from unbearable to dead silent in the top of the line helmets. There is no way to tell which they will be standing in the store. One of the things to look for is a bit of neck protection. Not all have this, you will feel this on the back of your neck when you put on the helmet. This keeps your neck or clavicle from getting broken. The AdvantX has this.
Hi. Thankyou so very much for sharing this info with us. Many thanks 👍
Great video. Steven was excellent with his customer service and high level of knowledge! (Lovely smile too! btw) Well done to you all 👏👏👏
We agree!👍
I've been riding bikes for over 40 years and I still learned quite a bit from this video . Brilliant, nice one mate 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Another interesting video about your journey into biking. I agree entirely about the importance of going to a local dealer for information and fitting. My son’s advice about helmets was “what price safety? You only have one head so buy the best you can afford-as long as it fits.” Difficult to do online. Yes helmets are vat free, but also the intercoms are vat reduced at time of helmet purchase as they are also considered a safety item. But not for retrofitting (Source: 2 dealers). My son replaced his 5 year old quality helmet from a dealer (so they made sure it fitted) at Motorcycle Live, latest model and saved almost £200 on online prices. They also fitted intercom system. Something for you to consider in 5 years or so 😂
Hi. Thanks for watching and sharing this info 👍
Superb video Andy, I did the same and tried some at infinity in York, and they were so helpful at helping my wife and me find the ideal fitting helmet for touring. I settled on the HJC and had the features I needed with the flip front, the sun visor and slot in fasteners.Absolutely brilliant for anyone new and old to motorcycling. Keep up the good work, this is the sort of content UA-cam needs. All the best from sunny Whitby. ☀️🤘😎🤘🥶
Glad you enjoyed it. We love glorious Whitby, can’t wait to return 👍👍
Just told the misses "There is no right or wrong answer on, uh, which helmet you have".
Glad I can finally tell her, thanks for the professional help, much appreciated!
Thanks 👍👍👍
Hi I’ve been watching this series from the start and enjoyed all of them, I’m of similar age to you (a tad older I think 57) and I have just brought my first keeyway 125 I passed my CBT in October and it’s because of you streams that I have done this I do plan on doing my full licence in the future but not sure when yet. And would like to say thank you and I will continue to enjoy your contents 😊
Best of luck with it and let me know how you get on. Safe riding 👍👍
That man knows a lot about lids! Good choice! Those Arais are super nice though. Looking forward to the new bike review. 👍🏼💪🏼
Thanks 👍 steve is very knowledgeable
You’re absolutely right about trying helmets on. I had my heart set on an Arai; bought one, struggled with headaches. Once I went to Helmet City in Oxford and had a long chat with the guys there, and tried on almost every lid in the shop - I settled on a Shoei NXR2. Never looked back!
I definitely recommend 👍
I have had a Shoei NXR for four years and it is due to be replaced this year. I am going to have a shoei personal fit as I have a pin head, my NXR is an XXS 🙂.
It is worth spending as much as you can afford on a helmet and the fit is the most import part of it.
We agree 👍👍
What a wonderful service Steven gave you. Completely unlike what I received when I went to a big chain store. I wish I had a similar store where I am in Scotland
Thanks for watching 👍👍
I ended up with the Arai Concept-XE in Modern Grey from a local supplier. Tried many and it was the best fit. Very happy with it.
👍👍
Thanks for a really great video. There'll be many a new rider benefits from that. What a top bloke Steven is - it's clear he knows his onions! Enjoy the new lid and can't wait to find out more about this mystery bike!
Absolutely
I’ve got the exact same helmet, excellent quality and good fit. I bought the intercom too and it’s brilliant, fitted it myself in 2 mins 👍🏻👍🏻 Enjoy
Nice 👍
Stephen is a great knowledgeable guy who really knew his stuff, and that helmet choice was right for you, one of the quietest helmets on the market, and the intercom stuff will be useful in the future, also the flip up has the advantage when you need to communicate to others without having to take the helmet off.
Couldn't agree more!
Recently changed my flip helmet to a Nolan 120-1 flip over . Chin bar goes right over to back, this gives an open face feel but converts back to full face when at higher speeds. Plus it dosent squash my face like some.
I’ll be in Spain & Portugal in June, open face is great at low speed touring in hotter weather.
Still reasonably quiet on motorways.
Spain and Portugal sounds great
Arai or Shoei are by far the best 2 makes of helmets out there in my humble opinion!! I've been riding for 51 years and would never ride with any other helmets! They are expensive BUT, If you have a 5 bob head put a 5 bob helmet on it!!! Neotec 3 the one for me😉
Thanks 👍
@@barney3417 I have to agree as I am going back to bikes after 35 years and am blown away by the quality of the Shoei. Nothing was close.
I’ve got a Neotec 3 and a Scorpion ADX-2 , both modular helmets. As well as generally being quieter it’s nice that you can ride with the lid open around town and let some air in. They also conform to the latest safety standards the same as a full face. It’s very helpful that the salesman said to replace them every 3 years - I can just show my wife that bit next time I’m looking at them 😊
😂😂😂😂😂👍
What a cracking video! Like you I purchased a helmet online, just done the tests… it’s going in the bin! I only passed last July, but your videos have been brilliant for my wife who is going through the process 👍
Fantastic! Best of luck and let me k ow how you get on
I like the flip helmets, you can drink your cuppa tea while on the go 🤣👍
😁
Me too, can flip it up at petrol stations and put on easier as well.
Not forgetting you can you can put it on without taking your glasses off 👌
That was fascinating Andrew and the knowledge of that guy was second to none. I never knew what buying a helmet involved but clearly it is the most important part of the gear you need... Many thanks.
Thanks Kevin
this is the best video about selecting helmets on youtube. thank you. would like to see similar videos about jackets, pants and gloves.
Thank you, we have those videos coming.
What a professional salesman, a credit to his company. Interesting vid.
Oh, and you gained a sub!
Welcome to our channel 👍👍👍
Totally agree I had a head fitting service for Shoei neotec 3 and the difference in fit and comfort between helmets is so different you really do have to go and try them on. I love my Shoei knowing its fitted correctly and for my head, best money I've spent, the gear you wear is more important than the bike you ride.
Thanks for sharing!
Good choice Andy. I prefer the Modular, I have 5 Helmets and 3 of them are mods. They are more convenient and don’t make you feel claustrophobic. Also, it’s nice just to cruise with them open in the nice weather. You won’t regret it.👍🏍️
Thanks for watching 👍
I went with a shoei neotec 3 flip up helmet after having a full face helmet. It makes doing anything with the bike so much easier. You have nearly full vision whilst moving the bike about manually, putting locks on and pretty much anything.
Its also good for slow moving traffic as you get much more air, and almost feels like youre not wearing a helmet.
Think I'll definitely be sticking with flip up helmets from now on.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Last year I did a 3000 mile tour of scandinavia (my first long tour). I wore a Scorpion EXO flipover helmet. It was so useful on entering a town or village to flip it up and enjoy looking around while riding slowly. Also it was very hot and at lights and junctions I would always flip it up to get some fresh air. Talking to people e.g. on ferries and tolls etc. was much more easy with the helmet up. Downside there was probably more windnoise than other helmets.
Sounds great! A good review for a flip over helmet
love the exo helmets, wear one myself, not a flip though, just got an Ruroc Anarchy and regretted it so much, really uncomfortable..
Great video, I am in the market for a new helmet and found this very useful. I have both a shoei and an Arai at present.Steven is probably the most knowledgeable salesman I have ever met! Top bloke. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching
Good luck
Pinlock for pinhead! One good thing, when/if Claire learns to ride, you'll be able to swap helmets! Only jesting.
I pay for pretty much everything on my phone, but it was a pain having to take my helmet off to get the facial recognition to work when getting petrol, so I just added a card to my watch and that works a treat. Saying that, not sure if you can pay at the pump in the UK at a lot of places. Good episode and very informative.
Thanks for watching and sharing this info
Brilliant walk through by Stephen. A masterclass in choosing a helmet.
Thankyou!
I was really surprised how quickly you dismissed the idea of a modular helmet in the beginning. I really like them because when it gets hot and you're not moving fast opening the helmet helps me breathe.
Thanks
They terrify me! Lol
Modular helmets are awful, their integral structure is much weaker than a full face.
@@italianstallion701 they test it as a full face if its much weaker then it doesnt pass the ece 22.06 test
Nice choice Andy iam looking forward to seeing what the new bike is..passed a month and 2 bikes already I can’t wait to see what Claire’s new caravan looks like🤣🤣👍🏻
You and me both! 😂😂😂😂😂
Bought my last flip lid from Steve a few weeks ago. Love the C5 but have an oval head so use the Neotec 3. Good choice 👍
Nice 👍
Always a modular (Flip Lid) for me, I love my Schuberth especially in the summer and always great for communicating too... Also when your all set up to ride having a modular saves resetting your headwear everytime taking the lid off . 😉
Thanks for the info
I have the Schuberth C5 and it's by far the best I have ever had. Comfortable, quiet and brilliant comms system.
Thanks 👍👍👍
I have a schuberth C3 and I love it. I was waiting to see your face when he gave you the price for the C5. It’s one of the most expensive helmets on the market. I was waiting for the ‘Yorkshire battle cry’ How much!!! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂👍
Wow that guy knew his stuff.
Great vlog.
P.s. I don't even own a bike. Lol, but enjoyed watching.
Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍
I so wish you'd posted the question before the vid. I've got a Schuberth C3Pro, a C4Pro and a C5Pro.
The C3 is the best helmet I ever bought, I've had it for 12 years and the only reason I bought a new one was cos one of the speakers packed up. The C3 still gets used in really cold weather cos the visor seal is the best, the chin seal is the best. It's so good, if you open the chin vent at speed you can feel the air pressure change in your ears.
The C4 is a fine helmet but it's noticeably louder than the C3 and the visor seal isn't as good. The C4 is also when Schuberth switched from using their own sound system to a SENA system, which wasn't quite as good.
The C5 is, once again, a very fine helmet.....however, what cretin decided to make the remote control need it's own battery that isn't rechargeable? Both the C3 and 4 have a one button on/off switch, one battery that you charge in the helmet via a USB cable. The C5 you have to turn two separate batteries off and I'm forever forgetting to turn the remote off. I've only had the lid for a year and I've been through 4 remote batteries....and they're not cheap! Mind you, SENA have improved since the C4, the sound is definitely better.
Hi thanks for sharing this info with us
This is so interesting. Comfort is supreme, it is one less thing to worry about when you're riding. All these helmets are safe but if you have a bike you love and a comfortable helmet, you're more likely to go for a ride for fun. My humble opinion is, if you find a comfy helmet, don't worry about the price.
Absolutely!
Everything is big apart from my head, steady on son 😂
😂😂😂😂
Salesman new his stuff, good choice -- looking forward to the next vlog
👍👍
At the first half of the video I was thinking: No way, this guy just throws away the modulars. Then you have thinking a little bit and you has made your decision. 🙂 Keep the shiny parts upright!
😂😂👍
Iv'e had the Shuberth helmet for 4 years now. The best ever helmet. Expansive but so is your head. Good choice.
Love mine
I use a Schubert Ec3, I bought it when I updated my gear. It’s comfortable and does what I need as I spend a lot of time on my bike.
The enhanced modular design is great and I went with the comms upgrade for music and communication with other riders I ride with.
The fact that the speakers and wired system was pre installed was a big plus for me. And it is not heavy.
The other helmet I have is a HJC F70 carbon. A really great helmet. Light weight and tested on track.
100% right that you are advised to try before you by.
Same as your gear, don’t go cheap, look at what works for you, and what you can afford.
The cheapest option won’t save your life if the worst happens, or keep you dry if it tips down and you’re on your way to work… just saying 😂
Hi. Thanks for this info and watching 👍
Have the same one in the same colour 👍 the quietness tipped it over the edge for me, great choice
Nice 👍
I have just been on a similar shopping trip and went for the Novic Switch (modular helmet). Maybe not as premium as the Schubert but it is comfortable and I like the fact that the lining is removable/washable. It is a simple gloss white and came with a Pinlock 30 insert.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Hi Andy (& Claire), well done on the 10k subscribers and that helmet suits you sir!! The flip front will come in handy for a quick chat to camera when out riding. Lovely colour too, matches my bike!! Finally, the sales chap was a diamond, he knew his onions and was very patient. Cheers Andy & Lyn.
Hi both, thank you very much 👍
I have a Schuberth C3 flip. Very good but all depends on personal taste and fit. You won't regret buying one
Loving it 👍
Great knowledge from Steven ' Mr Helmet ' 😊
Thanks 👍
Good choice of helmet, I have one the same. Please make sure you use proper visor cleaner. I used A cheap stuff that I got for my glasses and it made the Pinlock pins swell up and put small cracks in the plnlock hole. Luckily the visor was replaced under warranty, it's been brilliant ever since. Glad you liked the Wingham area. 👍
.
Thanks 🤩
Claire’s camera work is mint! 👌🏻
Open face dual homologated helmet for me, all day long.
👍👍👍
You got excellent service and advice from the salesman you also did the right thing and took your time to get it right for you . From experience an ill fitting helmet quickly becomes annoying and a dangerous distraction if you have to keep fiddling with it so sits right.
Personally I try to avoid buying any of my bike gear online if I can as it needs to fit properly to work (and the customer isn’t always right) the one exception is my altberg boots which I had to buy online as there are no stockists near me . I worked my way through 5 different helmets when I started riding before I got an Arai rapide Freddie Spencer replica which was £170 about double what I had spent on any of the others and was amazed at how well it fitted and since for the next 40 years have ridden in either shoei or arai helmets.
Thanks for watching and sharing this with us 👍👍👍
I’ve had loads of makes and models of helmets but when I got my Arai, I knew what a lid should feel like. And some random info, when I was an engineer I made some of the testing equipment used by BSI to test the helmets and then later on, I worked in the same building where they were tested.
Hi thanks for watching 👍
@ loving the content, subbed
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Knowledge salesman's, great customer service
Flip down sun visor is a must have for me.
Nice choice of helmet and I am looking forward to when you create a content on motorbike comms system that will fit your helmet.
I will be doing this 👍
Great video, will help the newbie for sure.
FYI if you’d bought the Schuberth a year ago (the previous model) it most likely wouldn’t have fitted. They changed the shape with the latest crop.
Regards pinlock, the number on the side 70/120 is the amount of seconds it can withstand steam (breath) with perfect clarity. After that it can steam up in lab conditions, but cracking the visor, the conditions obviously affect that. They are not 100% condensation proof. When you get home after a damp/wet/humid ride let the thing breath and dry out. The pinlock is full of tiny perforations that hold the liquid. Clever stuff.
You bought a great helmet.
I have Schuberth, Shoei and my wife has the HJC all bought with comfort/fit in mind.
Ooow one last thing. Modular helmets are the quietest of ALL the brands and styles. Yes they are slackest when putting on but once the chin bar is down it pulls the bottom in tight killing air being able to travel up and in. Schuberth is the quietest.
PS you let it slip what helmet you bought on the bike reveal 😂
PPS modular helmets are by farrrrttrtrrrrttttrrrrr the best type of helmet full stop….you realised just in time.👍
😂😂 well spotted 😂😂
Excellent advice, what a quality salesperson. If only all clothing shops were that good! Although I need to give my local shop a shout out too, Infinity South Oxford, who are knowledgeable and tend to be helpful also. I have love flip lids too :)
Thanks for sharing!
I’ve mentioned it to you in previous videos.I’ve just got back into biking after a ten year lay off.And the one thing I’ve come to realise is,you need to try before you buy.Sizes vary so much.I’m usually an XL in jackets, but I’ve had to buy XXXL.According to the tape measure,I’m a large in helmets, but i bought an XL.And also there’s the biggy.PRICE DIFFERENCES.The Arai Quantic Dark Citizen is £599.99 retail, but you can get them for as low as £400 if you shop around.
It’s certainly not a cheap mode of transport as people might think. The cost of the bike,insurance,tax,servicing/maintenance costs, clothing(Summer and winter) Helmet, gloves (summer and winter)
But it’s well worth the outlay. The sense of freedom and the smile/grin factor once its hits you, will stay with yo for a lifetime🛵🏍️💨💨💨
Hello. Thanks for watching and sharing this info 👍
Good decision on the flip lid. My hubby and myself have them. So convenient but they do tend to be a bit noisy at 70 mph. Plug in your music and enjoy. Ride safe 👍✊.
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍
Great choice Andy - and great message, never skimp on your choice of helmet. I have a 'Arai shaped' head like you and i have a BMW carbon system 7 flip helmet in fluorescent orange for visibility - maybe worth a try next time you replace your lid. They cost about the same as shuberth but i found the visibility a bit better in the BMW.
Hi thanks for watching and sharing this info
Mate knows his helmet. That Schubert’s quite nice in that ‘Audi grey’ color. I wear a Shoei Glamster myself but might head into the store to give that one a try.
Cracking store. Steve knows his stuff
Great video and a really helpful guy - great advert for shops over online!
Glad you think so!
I was panicking that you wasn't going to buy a flip lid, especially considering that you do a lot of vlogging. I' bought my first flip helmet ever at the NEC in 2024, my previous choices over the past 40 years were based on the style of bike and how the helmet looked and matched the bike! I've listened to my experience and have gone with the Shoei neotec 3, yours is still a great choice, both brands fight each other in this space. Apparently once you've experienced the practicalities of a flip lid, you won't go back! Steve knows his stuff and presents really well, great advice, well done Steve. Great vid as always 👍
Thanks Jon. The helmet is great for me 👍👍
Good helmet reviews well done .That guy was very interesting and new his stuff
Steven is great and knows his stuff 👍
Arai for me and Louise, fit us really well and imho the safest option out there. The black HJC looked like it fitted you well but it was funny to see your reaction when you tried on the Quantic, the quantic is more generous than the RX7. I've got the Quantic, love it. Arai, accept no substitute 😊 one of my mates has the dark citizen, great lid 😀 great choice and worth any penny 👍 most garages are fine with you keeping your lid on, there are only one or two arsey ones that I've come across in our area. A mate has the Neotec 2 and really likes it but I can understand your choice of the Schuberth, you'll need a BMW next 😉
Thanks for sharing this 👍👍👍
@@bikerofatlantisI've added a bit as it seems to have got lost
I agree, I've never had a problem with going into a fuel station with a lid on but even if they do, they are not going to refuse to take your money and you can always use the line that if you were a certain demographic of society that covers their face, would you expect them to show their face.
A good choice. I’ve had nothing but Schubert helmets for the past 12 years and wouldn’t get anything else now. I have two at the moment a modular touring helmet and a modular adventure helmet. They are both comfortable and very quiet.
👍👍
Cheers - you’ve just saved me loads of time there - the C5 was top of my short list of 4/5 helmets - in that colour too👍👍 Will be trying that one on straight away and as long as I find it comfortable there’ll be a quick sale lol😂😂
Sounds good 👍
That looks like a nice helmet and great comprehensive advice from the salesman who really seems to know his stuff. Well done for seeking the advice and taking time and a nights sleep before making your decision. I had a Schuberth C3 a few years back but was disappointed as it was noisier than I was led to believe and it let water in through the inside of the visor when on long journeys through heavy rain, perhaps I was expecting too much. It hasn't put me off the brand though as I enjoyed wearing it in the right conditions and after watching your video I'm going to check out a C5 at my local dealer. 👍
Sounds good 👍👍
Good choice, I went modular when replacing mine a few months back which was adventure style, when commuting into the city it was far too hot and stuffy over summer in the stop/start traffic between lights and slow filtering etc, going to be great next summer when once in the city I can just lift the front and get a bit of air. Had them in the past but a standard full face would be out of the question for me these days unless its specifically for weekend blasts or track days etc, cant beat the versatility of the modular
Hi. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Arai also makes a range of helmets for LONG OVAL head shapes, The Signet Line...
👍👍
HJC made some insanely affordable helmets and quality is still there. Older scorpions were great too for the price. Shoei is my favourite. Unfortunately they went with ratchet strap instead of double D ring and… the central located lock. It’s unnatural for use with gloves. Hard to open.
Thanks for watching
Safty is always worth taking time over along with the right helme for you
