This is great! I've got the original HT20 Studio, but I've been thinking about upgrading because of the 2W switch, and because of more functions, the USB and stuff...
You left out the best option - fx send to interface and apply Impulse Response of your choice in DAW. (Nad IR is free and include free impulses!) For power section emulation, free plugin Ignite Amps TPA-1 gives you EL34/6L6/KT88 with additional tonal options.
I have also found a way to play along a song using my mobile phone (Pixel 6a). I connect my Focusrite Scarlett Solo to the phone with a USB-c cable. This powers up the DI. Then, I connect the XLR cable from the amp head to the DI. At this point, I can play any song on the phone (also, check out apps with drum loops etc) and use the HT-20R MkII for my guitar with the built-in cab sim. You can turn down the master volume for completely silent practice.
So if it’s on standby I believe when you are using simulated outputs it works as a mute switch and when the standby is disabled you can hear your amp which can help when live so you can still hear your amp when it’s going in the pa. I’m getting the amp in few days so I’ll see how this works
Can you hazard a guess what the amp settings were for this video? Appreciate it could be one of 00s of things making the tone from the 4x12 emulation output from the amp to my daw sound trash but would be good to try this
This is very nice I must admit a lot of features on this amp , but Especially the usb . Now lets say I want to use USB record I use the Asio4all driver and select my HTseries as device, but how do I only set the input for the HT series and then play everything in my DAW using my interface lets say, home studio speakers. Thing is I want to record my guitar stuff with USB only and then do the rest on my interface but theres no way of selecting only the output to the interface. How do I achieve this, I'm using studio one 5 professional , Thank you
Hi mate, I would like to connect my PC as an audio input into my HT20 head and let this then mix with my guitar input, and then send this back to an audio interface using my Condenser Mic to mix, is this possible ?
Hi Kevin, the best practice would be to connect your HT20 via the USB output to your PC, and then select it as your audio input in your DAW. Or you could mic up your HT20 with your condenser mic and record it into your interface that way.
Hi, when i want to play or record silently with head phone the speaker still sounds. How to cut the speaker? Thank for you vidéo, she make s me buy this amp 😊
The headphone output is taken before the master volume. Turn the master volume of the amp down to zero and use the channel volumes to set the headphone level. Hope this help!
Basically the same process, but it won't need the ASIO drivers, as Apple's audio subsystem was developed with audio production in mind, whereas Windows was not (which is why Apple is so much more common in studios, as they've got the history and greater HW/SW support).
It's funny people pushing these blackstar amps I have this amp and the ht club40 even micked these amps sound like total shit I got a mustang 3 it will eat these amps alive just myopion

Thanks for posting that, you saved me a lot time!
Could you do some videos showing how to do maintenance on this amp like replacing the tubes? Thanks.
When recording direct via XLR or USB, is the amp on standby? Where is the Volume?

Nothing will replace the condenser mics i believe
How do you disable the speaker in the amp if you want to record emulated out?
Turning down the master volume will disable the speaker in the amp and will still allow you to record the emulated output
