Leigh Fuge I just had a go at them no chance!!!! My ancient fingers might not be capable of that. I can do one tone ok one point 5 at a push

I love that Epiphone. I have a Les Paul standard plustop pro in blueberry burst. Best guitar I have ever owned.

I love my Blackstar HT20 Mk.1 - it's a wonderful pedal platform for Davey G tones (and others, of course).
Never could do the SRV raking thing. Been trying for over a decade and I simply cannot do it.

      Hey man,
Yeah, it's a great platform for stacking pedals onto. The overdrive channel set to a low gain, with another overdrive pedal infront sounds great too.
The SRV raking thing is super tricky. Start playing triplets (1 & a 2 & a....) so you hit three notes per beat. Then alternate the picking to down down up, down down up. That way, the up becomes your rake.
You want to hit the fretted note on the 1 with a down and the rake on the "a" with an up. The way SRV often plays it is never spot on the beat. He plays the rake slightly late to give it a more rushed feel.
When I count it in my head I count "a1 a2 a3 a4 a1". The fretted notes are dead on the beat, but that rake comes just ahead of it. Once you start to get the rhythm (It's even useful to just mute the strings and just get the feel for that rhythm) then you can start to build the speed. Once you lock it in a few times, it starts to come pretty natural!
