Blackstar HT 5R MK2 - Mic V D. I. Sound Test
Вставка

- In this video, I compare the sounds of the Blackstar HT5R MK2 as recorded on a microphone (Shure SM 57) and on the emulated speaker outputs of the amp itself. Those are either an XLR output via a microphone cable, the headphone output, which requires a splitter and two cables to provide a stereo output or the USB output. I have tried the USB output unsuccessfully with my new MacBook so I haven't included that in this test. I have been able to hear it and haven't found it to be any better or worse than the other emulated output options. Hope you find this video useful. Please do feel free to let me know how you are getting on with your own Blackstar amp.
Hope you find this of value. Feel free to like, comment and subscribe if so.
Cheers!
Dave

Nice comparison - very helpful to actually hear the headphone out!
Thanks. I’m glad you found it helpful.
Is It good the headphoines output ?:)
Thank you for the comparison. I have the ht20r but it's nice to know that it sounds just as good, maybe even better, through the direct out. Great to know that it is a viable option over sticking a mic in front of it.
My pleasure although I personally feel the DI sounds are a little brittle for my taste. I’m finding a condenser in front of the speaker works for me when it’s placed just so.
Is It headphoines line?
Thanks a lot for the detailed video. And it sounds really nice! very natural
My pleasure! Thanks for the comment
Excellent playing and sound
Thanks, appreciate it. I should do an update as I'm getting good results with both a close miked 57 and an AKG condenser about a foot away after some experimentation.
Thanks for the detailed review
Thanks - hope you found it useful
Sounds good man. I'm taking mine back to the store on Saturday, mine sounds horrible it makes my guitar sound like a bass guitar on the low E and A strings.
Sorry to hear that hope you get it sorted. I've added a condenser mic to recent recordings and it really does sound good to me.
Can you try USB out please? I cannot get this to work. The signal is too weak.
I think I did and mentioned in the video that I hadn’t been able to get it happening on my new Mac book pro. It’s not a route I’d go down personally as an interface offers more control.
Your great sounds got me wondering if my HT5R sounded as good, and why I am not using it much. I put on headphones and was reminded of a distracting background ticking I get only on the clean channels regardless of any setting or type of guitar. Otherwise it also has some great sounds. In your experience have you solved a similar ticking sound? This is my first valve amp and perfect otherwise so any tips will be appreciated.
Hmmm - the only thing I can think of is that the amp may be picking up interference from something external - radio/tv/mobile phone. Or there may be a failing component in the amp
@@thecreativeguitarlounge Thanks. I will try moving it further from other electronics. Apparently the Mk1 version had some flaws in PC board heat management design. 🤞Hopefully corrected in Mk 2.
@@thecreativeguitarlounge Your suggestion about electrical interference was on target. Finding a new plug in spot fixed the tick and greatly improved the sound. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
All the outlets are Under neith very hard to plug stuff in. And only small 2 valve's
True. The outlet thing's not such a problem if you have a semi permanent, studio set up and don't need to get at them too often. For my money the two valves manage to produce a good sound. Bear in mind this is a tiny wattage amp for home or studio use.
Can you listen tò a good sound from the headphoines? I don t understand english very well so j can t understand all:)
It’s a good enough sound for practice I would say - perhaps a little “thin” because of the speaker emulation.
@@thecreativeguitarlounge but can you Gear rnought good or Is It a horrible sound?
Definitely not horrible - just not as good as the full amp sound - in my opinion
