Now I know how the voices of the Vogons were done in the original Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and probably Marvin and all other non-humanoid beings). Cool!
Verified. '... the [BBC] Radiophonic Workshop to have the effects added. Paddy really went to town and created some extremely original sounds, many of them using his latest gizmo: the Eventide Harmonizer. “I did use it a lot,” says Paddy. “For processing voices, mostly. Marvin the Paranoid Android used it; Eddie the Shipboard Computer, the Vogon Space Captain… It was the first real-time digital pitch-changer. The Vogon voice was treated with an echo that went up in pitch with each successive repeat, as the Harmonizer had been patched into a delay line.”
I have it in mind to make my own version of the H910 using an FPGA or CPLD device combined with the classic analog parts of the circuit. I have experience with logic design using such devices, so I'm hoping I can make something work.
Dear Synthmania, i would love to request a demo for the roland jv1080 or Emu Proteus FX demo. Mainly it one of my favorite synths to use i would be happy to see one of them have a demo.
I saw a band with the guitar maker "Chapman Stick"...what interested me wasn't the stick with guitar strings all over it...or the drummer.. it was the balded headed guy doing weird vocal sounds! This was at Cypress College near Buena Park CA...after the concert I talked to the vocalist and he explained to me about the harmonizer. He let me tryed it out ..me doing high pitched robotic voices..I did a original I wrote that needs this effect and people turned around and said " Wow! Far out!"......
Can't believe i missed this video, was searching for an example of the H910 for a friend.. Their VST is great indeed, bit expensive for me but Valhalla delay has a nice Pitch module that works well. Your vocal when singing sounds exactly like a classic Italo disco singer lol, are you available for hire? hehe
I just bought a 910 and I'm confused by how the inputs and outs are connected could you let me know how you connected the Jack's because when I made some tails and connected them it doesn't sound right like yours. Thanks
It may actually be two recordings of the vocal track played at the same time. The Pet Shops Boys are basically a studio band that sometimes plays live and they use electronic equipment which keeps a constant tempo and pitch.
R.E.D. Yeah basically add an instance of The Echo (the Orange guy that looks like an old Roland space echo). Initialize the patch on it. Then set the wet dry to 100% wet. Turn off tempo sync and turn the delay all the way down to 1ms. It'll sound pretty boring. Then slowly add time via the offset knob. This will add delay to only the right channel around 20ms gives a nice stereo width to your sound. Then mess with the lfo and tape warble controls to add some chorus. You can always add extra time to the left channel as well For a more strange effect. Also adding feedback will result in some interesting sounds. Good luck!
I've seen photos of Martin Hannett with a rack containing H910 in the background, so it's possible - it's also possible that it was the Marshall Time Modulator: ua-cam.com/video/xnXUu4pr8C4/v-deo.html
Any idea what the Chicago dudes used in the 80s like for tracks like Adonis - No Way Back, Frankie Knuckles- Baby Wants to Ride , or master C+J - In the City(Devil Mix) especially .... ua-cam.com/video/56c0xwEDHpU/v-deo.html Also are there anymore affordable hardware options to achieve the same effects?
What are we listening to? the original sound from the mics channel (direct out) + the h910 effect channel + latency? so how can we tell what the solo sound of the h910 is???
The vst is £233.00 but in truth, every daw has these capabilities and more inbuilt. Just bear in mind that this effect unit was amazing IN IT'S DAY, but with even basic daw reverb and delay etc its lacking. Save your money and experiment with daw plugins. Many have settings like you see here.
In truth, all you need in 2019 is a laptop. That said, if you want to experience the real deal, you gotta buy the real deal - in truth. Some want to experience the real deal, some don't. That's fine, and that's all...
Thank you for the demo Major Tom :-)
Eventide is my favorite effects brand. Great product
I;m glad I'm not the only one who does dad singing :)
The Eventide H910 sounds great with you. You should say, "Transformers...more than meets the eye!". Great video. :)
Awesome stuff, as always!
cool video! i love the h910 mode on my eventide pitch factor stompbox. great awful-sounding pitch shifter
Yes, PitchFactor rulez!
love that digitalsound!
sounds like the mic i had on my CB radio lol " echo chamber " was an in line box from the mic to the echo unit with green LED`s

Thumbs up man! Thanks for your demos!!

Did you manage to find the time?
@@djmips I never did get to this, but it's still on my list.
Get to it!
very good work synthmania
Thank you :)
Would like to see another demo of this please!
Definitely
We need another demo but with synths!
Sounds great! Nice demo as always
Yes!!!
Freddie in a Crazy Little Thing Called Love!
And Brian on Get Down, Make Love!
Soooooo Cooooooool ! Love this !

Thanks man, that was really helpful! :-)
Apparently this or a similar model was used on the electro track BPM122 (which I can totally hear)
Great job with this video!
Thank you!

Your voice is taken from Albedo 0.39 by Vangelis.
sounds a bit like bathroom reverb
How do you get that classic, Neil Tennant, double-tracked vocal?
It may actually be two recordings of the vocal track played at the same time. The Pet Shops Boys are basically a studio band that sometimes plays live and they use electronic equipment which keeps a constant tempo and pitch.
I have a few questions for you, If you don't mind.
Would you know if there is such an effect for Reason?
R.E.D. You could use the newest stereo echo module that they introduced around reason 7 that'd do the chorus doubling thing if not the pitch shift
Adam Rojo Chorus doubling? I'll have to try that out. Thanks Adam!

Thanks again! Appreciate you going through the trouble to tell me all of this. Just created a patch! Cheers Adam!
This sounds like the effect on Ian Curtis' voice, is that what he used?

6:23 ... - What's so interesting about my left ear, bro'? :D
just sounds like a doubler really ... like a very short delay

Is this the effect used in John Lennon's "Instant Karma"?
"Instant Karma" was recorded way before the H910 was produced.
@@SynthManiaDotCom Yeah it was made in 1970
It's a doubler
Scary monsters to a T

My friend.. very important: do you know if the h969 will have same dry processing effect as this? Simply running thru it?
Damn could you have gotten a better singer🤨
Can you tune vocals with this? If you can, I would like to see that done.
