it was great to hear someone else say it's a visual product. Not a fan of the wheel rakes, they drag everything and garbage into the bales

Thanks for your outstanding video. Was very interesting. I like the machines you got that flips the hay over to dry and air better. I can see where this process really makes a difference. You have a lot of really good looking hay. The machine you run to move and re stack the hay does great, I am amazed at how fast you move the levers without looking. Of course you have done that for years. I would have hay everywhere-ha. Thanks for your rundown on how you market the hay. Interesting. Guess that is it for now. Appreciate your time in doing the video for us so we can follow along. You all take care and be safe. Thanks. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
PS. You are getting me educated on a hay farm. Enjoying it. Thanks.

My cows would love that hay. I have found over the years that animals will eat more than what people think they will. We think we know what they like but I have cleaned up trash field and intended to use that trash hay for erosion control in their pasture only to see them leave good bales to go eat the trashy bales.

The last time I worked on a farm baling hay was in 1967. When there were 2 of us working on the truck loading bales (one driving and one loading on the back), we were each paid 3 cents a bale. I guess inflation has caught up with the hay baling business.

Greetings from Scotland! - just discovered you via Emma's. That Flip n Fluffer. Just what Granpaw needed - way back in the 60's. it was a 2 machine operation ( the Spider wheels to turn over and windrow, a "Wuffler" to shake it all up and loosen for the Baler ) over here - weather was always difficult to work along with. we have heavy 2 ton crops per acre of ryegrass with some Timothy and Cocksfoot according to location and end use - cattle sheep and Red Deer. Nowadays there is less of the aggressive cocksfoot and the TImothy. Rotary Multipurpose tedders are used which can also have a go at windrowing. ( just like your own Claas) NOw for Silage we use the same big wide rotaries as you guys have. and Hay is becoming a rarity, locally due to weather influence, even although some bale what I call grass STRAW which is past its best for nutrition. and is being made much later than we ever considered to be the hay season.( June to July). So you are lucky to have a much longer season. ( something like grass is always greener on the other side of the fence )

I like that fluffing machine, but how does it work in hay with fragile leaves? But I remember when I was younger I would have to help put up around 44,000 square bales every year and we didn't have a bale bale picker machine. We did everything with a bale sweep head on a tractor and stacked by hand. Needless to say we never got everything in before the snow came and we were out there chipping them out in the freezing snow. Lol fun times
