    Due to some family responsibilities, I haven’t been on a good vacation in 15 years. I’m 66 and always wanted to see the Grand Canyon in person. Finally got to go this past December. Took the train from Williams. I know you are closer than me. I’m ready to go back again. It was cold but the sky was blue our whole trip.

    Those flails on the mower are to break the stems so they dry fast it doesn't scap anything.... just like the rubber and metal rollers just crimp the stems. It all so the moisture gets out of the plant faster. We run a flail conditioner on our mower and we still run a Tedder through all the hay before bailing it. Generally able to run through a field in two to three days

    I had the time to make a quick stop into your store last Oct. Sales person was very friendly, store was well stocked. Wow! The price for an M-11 water pump sure went up! I think I paid $475 back in 2010, on my 2002 International! At least your drivers do good pre trip inspections! Fix it before it really breaks down!

    Now if you're going to be a mechanic get it right. That was not the blinker fluid container. That was for the brake light fluid.

    The tines on the mower are designed for grass, why they are marketed for alfalfa is beyond me. They just strip leaves on alfalfa. We ran our conditioner mower next to a tine and the ground was covered in leaves. We now run 2 butterfly mowers with no conditioners in front of the chopper, used a Heston like yours for the dry hay to be baled. Best trip was Europe on claas dime.

    There are shops that can weld plastic , might check into that before you buy a new tank .

    I need to sell hay to AZ at $19 a bale ! I charge 4.50 for 1st cutting and $6 for 2nd cutting here in NY to my horse boarders. Next time they complain about prices I'll tell them to go out west and buy it see how they like thier prices lol.. I'm not saying your prices are high either I know thats what you need to get per cost of bale for making it and such. It's just amazing the difference from here to there thats all

      Does your hay look like ours? Also, what do your bales weigh?

    • @adamwagner1987
      @adamwagner1987 5 місяців тому

      @BalesHayFarmandRanch we have alfalfa, Timothy and orchard grass. They are 70lbs bales . They do look similar to yours . We just don't have the climate like arizona so we typically only get 2 cuttings a year.. I don't really sell hay. I just do to my boarders . It mainly is for my full care boarders witch includes hay and grain for $425 a month. . Occasionally we have to buy hay on a bad year and that really cuts into profits .

      @BalesHayFarmandRanch I go by facebook market place prices here. There's alot of farms and hay sellers here so I'm sure it keeps the prices down with availability.. if I was out there I would only use Bales hay sales. You guys are on point !

      @BalesHayFarmandRanch it was high a few years ago when we had a bad drought but the last 2 seasons have been great and prices are level. We can only pray this spring is not wet and the summer isn't too dry .. Thanks for the videos . Your always a inspiration in the hay market 👍

    Now that I have seen the merger video and it was in your field too, three passes with a merger, two passes potentially with the baler and bale wagons per section, lots of savings there. That’s the way I see it. Just not sure how much leaf would get knocked off, more or less????

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  5 місяців тому

      This cutting is super super light. 1/2 ton or so. Normally we wouldn’t be able to bale that much at one time. Also it create lumps/green spots or “slugs” and we can’t have that. So for what we do, the merger doesn’t work. For chopping, it works awesome!

      @@BalesHayFarmandRanch I hear ya. Thinking about it, my brother does it very similar, cuts 27” then merges it afterwards but like you said, it all goes to silage.

    Why do you sell your hay out of the field that way rather than to bale the hay and sell it through your business is dry hay

    • @TheRealJesseStoltzfus
      @TheRealJesseStoltzfus 5 місяців тому

      Because sometimes it’s better for business that way. And probably because the buyer perhaps doesn’t want bales, but wants to chop it for cattle feed. There is a dairy that buys feed from him and I’m sure chopping is quicker than baling and handling more times to get it small enough for the cows to digest.

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  5 місяців тому +1

      This specific cutting is difficult to bale. It’s better to chop it this cutting. We will be baling soon.
